Also their cornerback coach is leaving for Arkansas.... AOHDBHG strikes?

There's how Ohio had room for Decker.
January 15th, 2012 at 11:45 PM ^
Since the commit list now stands at 20 for Ohio, it may also aid in the pursuit of Armani Reeves.
January 15th, 2012 at 10:05 PM ^
For those of us who are unfamiliar with the term "AOHDBHG" could someone please shed some light on what that means?

forced out because Urban Meyer is bringing the SEC to the Big Ten.

Urban cracking the disicipline whip so long as you are no one important

I especially like the part where you didn't use $ to replace the S in OSU. The Michigan difference.
January 15th, 2012 at 10:13 PM ^
to find a school to transfer if and when meyer finds more capable body to replace you.

This statment is dead on! i played for him for a year when he took over @ BGSU, had a target on my back from day one! AND the SOB recruited me at ND...he cares not of his greater responsiblity to mold boys into young men, wins are ALL he's concerned with.
January 16th, 2012 at 9:29 AM ^
Coincidentally, I stopped in BG yesterday on the way home to Columbus from my Mom's house in Grand Blanc. Myles Pizza is as good as I remember

"home to columbus"... words which should never appear together.

Hey, you can take the coach out of the SEC but you can't take the SEC out of the coach.
January 15th, 2012 at 10:16 PM ^
"Gambrell, a freshman, was dismissed for an unspecified violation of team rules."
It is being widely reported that the team rule that Gambrell violated was the rule against sucking at your respective position while your coach has a need to oversign new recruits. Insiders confirm that Gambrell had been repeatidly warned against not being as good as a new recruit but he refused every chance he was given to get faster and larger and so he had to go.

Pax Romana!
Ahh, my comments look much more impressive in boldface. I should set that in my defaults. MM2424, this is one of those mysterious board glitches that shows up from time to time. Another one is where the end of threads and the reply box get chopped off and the background appears uniformly blue.
January 15th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
I think I figured out the glitch...
I can turn all of the comments below mine bold. This was of course, by accident.

messes up an embed. Those threads open on my MGoBlog app fine but not the actual site.

I'm going to disagree. See. Below me, bold.
Edit: Removed bold as of 11:00pm

the header of a comment and then turns everything below the page light blue. I would ask you how to do the bold glitch but then everyone would know, and if everyone knew, then everyone would be doing it. That would get annoying really quickly. So for the sake of MGoBlog, please don't share it.

Yea man, nothing funnier than domestic abuse. Right up there with genocide on my list of hilarity. Jackass.
January 15th, 2012 at 10:23 PM ^
Don't quite see how that's funny...
January 15th, 2012 at 10:34 PM ^
He is saying lol at the fact that people are getting on Meyer for dismissing him when he committed a real crime. Poorly phrased but not as harmful as it comes off.
January 15th, 2012 at 11:06 PM ^
This. Were acting like hes just cutting players... If there was a thread named " Ohio player beats Gf and gets 4 games suspension", we would blast Meyer. So far hes let go two players, one was just for a DUI....
January 16th, 2012 at 12:18 AM ^
We'll try an experiment here. Give him credit here for this discipline. Then, when one of his starters or contributors screws up royally, and don't worry, they will, it's OSU, we equally berrate him for his lack of discipline. I think we're all nieve if we think that if this was Brax or Klein or (insert returning starter) he'd have the same policy.

January 15th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
Because nobody that's good enough to be recruited out of high school thinks it could ever happen to them. Why would they? They're used to being awesome.
January 15th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
It's been widely reported that Gambrell is facing an assault charge, although the thread reporting that at 11W seems to have been taken down. And Clarke had a DUI arrest this week on top of the BB-gun-on-the-roof incident that cost him a game this year.
Looks like straightforward disciplinary actions to me.
January 15th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
Dominic Clarke has been arrested twice since October. Once for firing a BB gun in public, and recently for receiving a DUI.
DerJuan Gambell "violation" is because he's being charged with domestic violence for beating the mother of his child.
Are these not justifiable reasons for releasing these players?
January 15th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
Dominic Clarke was dismissed for drunken driving, and an earlier incident of discharging a BB gun on campus. I'm just curious .... what would he do to Braxton Miller if he were busted for drunk driving while discharging a BB gun? My guess .... nothing?
January 15th, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
...I live in the damn state.
But can we wait and convict Meyer of something he's actually done instead of inventing stuff that hasn't even happened yet? I'm sure there'll be plenty of legitimate beefs, if you're patient.
January 15th, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
You can't fail at Ohio.......unless you beat your girlfriend. I really hope they continue to recruit the best and brightest to Ohio under Urb.
January 15th, 2012 at 11:07 PM ^
I can't help but think there is some parallel universe in which Urban Meyer is an anagram for Mark Dantonio.
January 15th, 2012 at 11:26 PM ^
I remember reading 2 days ago on Michigan boards how Meyer won't do anything to discipline Clarke getting busted twice because he is like Mark Dantonio. Now that Meyer has kicked him off the team, the argument is that he is just kicking off players because they suck. Just some points I'd like to make:
A) This is Clarke's 2nd arrest in less than 4 months.
B) Clark most certainly does not "suck." He was going to be (and will be whereever he ends up) an all-conference caliber player. In terms of football importance, this one really hurts since the CB position is very thin.
C) Gambrell was kicked off for domestic violence - how can anyone even argue the merits of his dismissal?
D) Attrition between coaching staffshappens ALL THE TIME (need I remind you of the transition under Rich Rodriguez?). This will be far from the last players to leave the OSU program in the next couple months.
E) And most importantly, Meyer never oversigned at Florida. Given the natural attrition, there are no concerns about reaching the 82* number by beginning of fall camp. Meyer has room to sign 4-6 more kids this class. OSU only had 79 scholarship players this year.
Cheers.

Was Dominic Clarke on pace to start this year? The info I got from his player profile is that he is a Criminology major
http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/clarke_dominic00.h…
January 15th, 2012 at 11:46 PM ^
Probably not - but he did start 3 games this past season due to injury. He was in the 2-deep. I would have been shocked if he didn't get significant playing time in most games, and he was certainly projected to be the starter for his senior year - especially since there is a lack of depth at CB. FR Bradley Roby is the only CB that has a brighter future.
I can see why the cynical view of this would be that he got booted only because he sucked - but it's just simply not the case here. He was expected to be a big contirbutor.
January 16th, 2012 at 12:05 AM ^
But your earlier post made it seem like he was a star in waiting who got booted. I still don't think the dude gets cut if he was a guaranteed starter/star.
January 16th, 2012 at 12:23 AM ^
You are probably right - if this was Braxton Miller in this situation, I would imagine he would be getting another chance. (And to be frank, I don't think there is a "star" on the OSU roster other than Miller and maybe John Simon that would get special treatment. Urban is basically starting fresh). But that's just the (dark) nature of college football - and certainly not unique to Urban Meyer. Is it fair that 'stars' are given more chances? Absolutely not, but that's just how it goes. However, I just wanted to make clear that the reason for him being dismissed in this situation had absolutely nothing to do with 'making room for others.'
I'm sure you guys can relate - I have a feeling that if Stonum was a scrub he would have been kicked off the Michigan team many moons ago.
January 15th, 2012 at 11:28 PM ^
It's only going to get worse from here on out, Urban. Believe it.
