Michigan State v. Notre Dame
Saturday, September 19 @ 3:30 p.m.
Notre Dame Stadium
South Bend, IN
Anything? Anything? Bueller?
If ND loses, Weis will probably lose his job. If state loses, Our probable victory over them will be meaningless. Which one is better for M?
It's better for us if ND wins. MSU is already the weaker team (losing to CMU) and ND still has a chance to stay in the top 25. I think that a win for ND makes the M win over ND look better. Plus, Weis is 1-3 against us. Rooting for the end of Big Charlie is like rooting for the end of John Cooper.
Weis is 2-3 against us. His first year was 2005 with Brady Quinn. Sidenote I had flashbacks to that game when Tate fumble that snap on the goal line. Anyone remember Henne fumbling a snap and essentially it cost us the game? I love that we recovered that snap, even though no points came of it.
Oops. I had blocked the game in 2005 from my memory.
I use to hate ND more than msu, but since we beat notre dame it is hard for me to root against Charlie. He needs to win so we...I mean they can keep him. Dantonio on the other hand can bounce.
Plus, even if Weis loses to State, he very well could win all the rest except for USC. Hard to get rid of Weis with a three loss season.
Looking at the game for its implications on this season:
1) now that we beat ND we want them to have a strong season so we beat a quality opponent.
2) If MSU takes its second loss of the season (a) I suspect those who wear green locally will be MUCH quieter (always a good thing) (b) we're still talking about MSU here and too many punches to the gut have historically sent these guys to the canvas. ND kicking them around might soften them up for us. Not going to lie to you, all I want is to DRUB MSU. I don't want a close game-for-the-ages/ESPN Instant Classic on 10/3. I want to KICK THE CRAP out of State in their foul little house.
Have to believe its better for us to have ND slap Sparty around.
of Allen and Floyd, both got dinged up yesterday. I don't know if the Irish cut back on the gold plating for their helmets but did you see the shape some of their helmets were in towards the end of the game!? That was a hard hitting game! Should be interesting but I'm willing to bet ND gets it together and takes it.
I don't think Floyd got hurt that bad. From the view on the TV it looked like he just cut up his knee.
walk off the field next week with a two game losing streak.
against ND and the Buckeyes, as I hate ND and OSU much, much more. However, Spartina nation has been particularly smug and obnoxious over the last year, so I will be rooting for the Irish. All this b.s. about Spartina "owning the state" and a "changing of the guard" makes me want nothing more than to lick the tears of every Spartina fan that has engaged in this nonsensical behavior. Plus, I think I actually hate Dantonio more than Jabba and sweater vest. As i saw someone post over on the CMU thread....Little brother's fall is coming before their pride! GO BLUE!
"fall coming before the pride" ... I'm with you BNags. Typically, I'll pull (reluctantly) for MSU against Dame and OSU. This year, I wouldn't mind the Irish laying a big total on them.
beats FYS by 5 td's.
And I think they will.
ND is always welcome to "return to glory" every year...after their second game. Go Return to Glory now fat Charlie.
No, you have it all wrong. Two losers enter, two losers leave. It's just, one will have more points on the scoreboard.
but in inverse... so for those textually dis-inclined:
MSU v. ND '09 = THUNDERDOME^(-1)
Technically, that's the reciprocal, not the inverse.
