Twitter recruiting notes

Although it has not led to any commits at the moment, the Ohio game has done wonders for recruiting. Here are a few reactions via twitter (thanks to scoutexile for the first few twitter updates):

If I had to guess I would say he decides in the next week or two. Here is why:

The contact period for coaches starts next week so he will probably hear one last pitch from both schools

Urban Meyer will be announced officially next week so he will know where he would stand with Ohio.

The games would be fresh in his mind so he could think about which visits he liked more

He has to choose soon because he is enrolling early.

There's a chance he takes an official in the next two weeks with Kyle Kalis which would be the perfect time to commit

If he is going to EE why put up with the BS from Ohio fans by making a verbal when you can just show up on campus in January.  I did talk with him and Dymonte before the game outside the stadium and they were both very nice young men.

Also, it's awesome that Jake Long came back.  Makes a really good impression on the recruits.  I wish we could get Tom Brady on campus...

I wonder if we could hang a #10 jersey on Lloyd and ask him to fake it?  Would any recruits konw?

For a second after reading that Magnuson tweet I was thinking what the hell is a high school kid gonna do in Detroit? But then I realized he is obviously joking around with someone.  This is why I hate twitter.  I'm ok with other people creepin though if it means I can extend my victory high into recruiting.

Take it easy on price. His mother gave him one hell of an ass whoopin and he owned up to his mistakes. Hes seems like a nice kid. A kid like that is someone that I will root for. The arrogant ones, not so much. Hope the best for him but doubt it will be in AA.

There are two ways to term your fandom:

1)   You can do the Steve Elmer and say (whether on Twitter or not) - "people were cheering for U of M and all I could think about was being on the Notre Dame part of the field"

He understood his true desire and committed to the team his heart wanted to.  He didn't disparage Michigan on his visit - he just made his ultimate desire obvious.  That was the mature method of deciding and he wasn't derided for it on this board.

2)  Or you can do whatever it is Billy Price did - going on an official to a school and then disparaging the team that invited you.  If you are this committed to OSU - just end the suspense and commit to OSU.  People would respect that more than being a juvenile about it.


I bring this up because these are both HS Jrs.  What precludes Price from behaving like Elmer - nothing.   So this excuse becomes hollow to me over time.  Price is just immature not just inexplicably young.   Let's not color the facts...

I agree Elmer's approach is better, but what's to say he is the "norm".  The kid's 16-17 years old.  He made a stupid mistake.  He owned up for it.  Some people on this board need to get off their high horses.  If he has a change of heart, and wants to come to michigan, I'm not judging him anymore than I would judge college age and grown men who disparage 17 year old boys for comments they make on twitter... oh wait, I actually would judge them, and not favorably.

 

 

Do Something. If it works, do more of it. If it doesn't, do something else.
