Per Twitter: Malik Zaire to Florida
meh.
Maybe it gives us a little more legitimacy when we kick their ass in jerryworld
I don't think his addition is as big of deal as some had hypothesized. He's mobile yeah, but Franks could run as well. He's got a cannon yeah, but so does Franks. Franks has 6 inches on Zaire. Florida will now be choosing between a freshman or a guy who knows the playbook less than a freshman and has less rapport with receivers than a freshman. It's still kind of pick your inexperience poison if you're Florida.
You are right on the money doc. Are defense is going to be all over who ever Florida starts. They are'nt going to be able to do boo. A Michigan offense should be able to move the ball and score points. It is on the o-line to move people off the ball, Speight to be accurate with his passes and to read defenses and for are running backs to run all over teams. The defense will be doing there job this year once again. Lets see what the offense does. Play four quarters and move the ball and score on everyone. With Nordin and Harbaugh calling plays this offense should at least get a field goal on every drive. Last year losses were on the offense period. A michigan team with the number one defense in the country should never ever lose a game period. Are defense will be right there this year so let's see what you got offense.
Our.
I also didn't know Nordin was calling plays.
and take a break from the spelling/grammar asshattery.
Normally I would brush off a misspelling here or a grammatical error there. However, when the mistakes are so plentiful that it actually hinders my ability to understand what is being said, a grammar nazi is warranted.
He only pointed out the most egregious mistakes. He left alone the misplaced apostrophe and the misuse of their/there.
Hmmm... with Nordin as co-playcaller, we may see a lot of 1st and 10 field goal attempts - interesting strategy there

"A Michigan team with the #1 defense in the country should never lose a game."
Well that's all fine and dandy to think about. But Michigan has lost 3 of the last 4 games with that #1 defense.
Now let's also not forget that we return only one starter from that #1 defense so the likelihood that we repeat as the top statistical defense is pretty unlikely.
But fascinating theory you have there to go along with some pretty bad spelling and grammar. Maybe tone down on being such a homer though and be a bit more realistic.
situation, but Coach Nussmeier hasn't been exactly lighting it up as an OC. Even with a young defense, Coach Brown has the advantage over Florida's offense.
Here are Zaire's career numbers:
http://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/550967/malik-zaire
CAREER STATS
SEASON | CMP | ATT | YDS | CMP% | YPA | LNG | TD | INT | SACK | RAT | RAW QBR | ADJ QBR |
2016 | 11 | 23 | 122 | 47.8 | 5.30 | 22 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 106.7 | 13.7 | 18.3 |
2015 | 26 | 40 | 428 | 65.0 | 10.70 | 66 | 4 | 0 | 2 | 187.9 | 81.1 | 86.5 |
2014 | 21 | 35 | 266 | 60.0 | 7.60 | 49 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 133.3 | 65 |
He wasn't a full time starter, but he has less than 1,000 yards passing over 3 seasons, and look at his QBR.
Franks doesn't have much experience and he's going to have to go against a young, but complicated and athletic defense. On defense, Florida lost some key players. You never know because it's the first game of the year, but Michigan shouldn't have too much trouble.
This is the worst post I have ever seen on this board.
You must be new.
Michigan against mobile qbs = not good news for us. I was starting to think Don Brown might have changed that against o$u. And then the 4th quarter happened and the all too familiar struggle against mobile qbs was back.
The bigger issue in last year's OSU game was like many other games the offense could not sustain a drive or run a four minute offense to salt away the game. The D was gassed by the fourth quarter. Don't use that game as an example for not being able to shut down a mobile QB.
4 minutes? They tried to run out the clock with 6 minutes left in that game.
If the UM defense was gassed in the 4th quarter against OSU, then Harbaugh needs to get a new S&C staff. When OSU got the ball with 10:28 left in the 4th quarter the UM defense had only been on the field for 19:42. UM's offense had been on the field for 30 minutes.
If the UM defense was tired that's piss poor conditioning.
Didn't they only give up 10 points in regulation? Wilton threw a pick six which is obviously not on the defense. I thought they were excellent against the spread after they locked things down against Colorado
Also threw another pick which, combined with a terrible unsportsmanlike conduct call on Harbaugh, put OSU on the 5 yard line to start the drive
Colorado was actually very scary until their starting QB went down, that's when we started shutting them down. The game against OSU was phenomenal D, can't blame that one on them
But like, do you remember why their QB got injured? He was getting hit on basically every play because they couldn't block our DL at all. Dude was a sitting duck and Don Brown was teeing off on him
Did you actually watch that CU game? They had a great first quarter, and got a lucky score in the third on a bomb. By midway through the second, CU's offense was dead in the water and the feel of the entire game had changed.
I watched it! Pretty sure my wife made nachos

He had less than 20 yards in the second quarter if memory serves. This narrative picked up immediately after the game but was not well founded. We handed them some early points which made the game look a little worse than it was.
Their backup tore it up the following week. Montez was no scrub.
I got lucky with Montez's mom one night out drinking
Careful there... you could end up with Montez's revenge

Colorado was losing when Luifau got injured. The perception of that game is is totally different than reality. We also weren't out-hit in that game.
Correction: Colorado was very scary for the first quarter.
Even with their starter still in, they were thoroughly dominated in the final three quarters (save one 70+ yard bomb).
The starter went 10/12 for 164 yards and 2 TDs in the first quarter with 31 yards on 9 carries. Lead 21-7
After the end of the first quarter until he left with an injury he went 6/14 for 97 yards and a TD (70 yards came on one play mind you) and 9 yards on 12 carries. He left midway through the 3rd with a 31-28 deficit.
Even with the starter still in, Michigan outscored Colorado 24-7 after the end of the first quarter. They weren't at all scary. Aside from a 70 yard bomb, Colorado couldn't do anything offensively. Their QB had 36 total yards on 22 plays without that bomb. That's HARDLY scary
Not only that, the entire game, Michigan gave up 3 points on drives that started outside our own 25
You watched a different OSU game than I did. Our defense shut down their offense until overtime.
Even in overtime, we did stop them from getting that first down. That decision was demoralizing and OSU had all the momentum
"You watched a different OSU game than I did."
You're right. Apparently you forgot Barret running it through wide open gaps in the 4th. First 3 quarters we shut him down. 4th was a different story.
They had 3 points on offense the entire game. We gave them 2 touchdowns. Oh and add in 8 sacks. We stopped their run game
"We stopped their run game."
200 yards rushing, 125 by Barret alone says differently.
"You're right, their offense and their mobile QB carved us up."
Good God, man. I already know I'm right. This was established the second it became evident you didn't watch the game.
Lol, glad you decided you're right.
(P.S. you're not right.)
"Lol, glad you decided you're right.
(P.S. you're not right.)"
Nice facts to back it up. Oh, wait.
Are you an idiot or do you just play one on the internet? You can't be that stupid.
Are you an idiot or do you just play one on the internet? You can't be that stupid.
I can play that game, too. Hurrr durrr.
Keep digging that hole, buddy.
Facts are facts, buddy. Come back with stats and then we'll talk. Until then, stop wasting my time.
Anyways, I'm done with you clowns. Let me know when you have some substance. Or common sense for that matter.
17 points in regulation, 14 of which were the direct result of plays by their defense. So the OSU offense scored 3 points in regulation. You're right, their offense and their mobile QB carved us up.
JT Barrett averaged 261.5 yards per game in 2016, and he gained 249 yards against Michigan. So the defense held him a little under his average, but Barrett still led his team to 137 total yards of offense in the 4th quarter while rushing for 71 yards himself.
Kudos to the defense for stiffening up in the redzone, and holding their offense to FG attempts, which their kicker missed his 2nd chip shot of the day.
Missed FGs are a part of the game, we missed 3 against Wisconsin. At the end of the day, 14 of their 17 points in regulation were obtained by the defense. So our defense struggled with a mobile QB to the tune of 3 points allowed. Penn State is another team with a decently mobile QB and we allowed 10 points to them. Yeah we struggled with Colorado, IIRC we were without two of our best players in Lewis and Charlton. We also struggled early on against FSU, again we were without one of our best players (and spread busters) in Peppers. A healthy Michigan defense did not struggle against any offense last year, mobile QB or otherwise.
A different game because the UM defense didn't shut down OSU in the 4th. OSU really had 2 possessions in the 4th quarter. The first went 10 plays for 61 yrs and ended in a missed FG. Their second possession went 11 plays for 77 yds and ended with a FG that tied the game.
Even if he ends up starting he may not have a connection with his receivers ala Rudock vs Utah
Why throw it when you can just run it?
Because our starting D-line will eat him up and if they don't, McCray, Hudson, and Bush will bring the heat.
He might not even be the starter. He couldn't start at ND. I'm not concerned. I see the SEC changed the rules just for Florida's benefit.
prior to that being determined.
Sources tell me former Irish QB Malik Zaire is telling people he has chosen Florida, is now just waiting for SEC to change transfer rules. https://t.co/byta4Mph34
