He's not.  IMO he's not even close.

I mean how in the Hell can you do a TWIS and NOT include one word about the Wisconsin collapse?  That had to have been epic and instead he writes on Northwestern, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois.

Bleah.  Wasnt that funny and it used to ALWAYS be funny.  Even when we were the brunt of the humor.

I wish I could lie and say I didn't laugh (oh FSU, you are truely in for a long season), but it just didn't feel the same as when Brian does it.

WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST EAT THE LEMON BRIAN!!! (That is the reason he lost the job... right?)

Definitely not Brian's sense of insight and humor, although it wasn't bad. Wisconsin was definitely a huge miss, though. And with the latest news about the yips, they shouldabeen a shoe-in.

I'll still read it and appreciate a heads-up when it's posted.

For what he did write about, the new guy was actually really funny IMO.  But to ignore #9 South Carolina's butt-whuppin' and Wisconsin's complete and utter collapse out of the column is unforgiveable.  Still a good read, but plenty of room for new-brian to refine his targets and improve.

from Brian. Maybe some serious bias here, but this was just kind of ... okay. Big shoes to fill. I'll read a few more in coming weeks and give him a chance but this was not a rousing start.  I never could figure out where Brian had the time to possibly pull off TWIS during the week - always looked like a ton of work. Not surprising he gave it up. Sad, but not surprising.  Thanks for giving us several years of great stuff, Brian!

I thought the Nebraska comment about sending texts to the scoreboard was right on the money.  You can sense the athletic department's desperate attempt to mollify the decreasing ticket interest from young fans.

"Football Game Or Circus?

I have been thinking about this since I arrived home from the game last night.I will preface this post by saying I'm nearly 60 and have had my seats in Memorial stadium for over 30 years. I fully understand what some percieve as a need to cater to the desires of all the young high school football players we are trying to recruit but I am wondering if this may be at the cost of alienating some of the older fan base such as myself.I'm wondering if anyone else felt like the game yesterday was more like a circus or carnival than a football game?

To me,the music was way too loud, played way too often and in my opinion actually detracted from the whole game experience. Not sure what to think of the WiFi deal, all of the texting etc on the cell phones was enough to drive me crazy and now the fans are bringing laptops and holding them up in the air to take photos.Instead of something worthwhile being shown on the big screen, we are asked to text in whether we prefer the cornheads or the red foam hats! Dedicated lines at the concessions for debit cards is another thing that I'm sure will really appeal to some but is it really that hard to carry a few bucks cash to buy a soda and a dog?

My 17 year old grandson attends every game with me and has since he was 7 or 8 and even he thought the whole remake was a bit much. I am not a person who makes snap decisions but at this point in time,I'm not sure I'll renew my 4 seats for next year......I know many on here will disagree with me and say "good maybe some real fans will be able to buy those tickets". Just wondering what everyone else thinks? GO BIG RED!"

I would say "Circus".

Eh, it's definitely different in its tenor and humor, but I'll give it a few weeks before I make definitive conclusions about the new guy. This was an OK first stab at this, considering how it was before.

In any case, there was this:

Has the new Clemson-ing become quitting when we're getting whooped?

I think it is a good question, and the epitome of streamlining a system really. Traditional Clemsoning involves strategically choosing a moment at which there is an inexplicable lapse or miscue which turns the game around for the opponent. The new method really just involves an arbitrary margin at which you can take your foot off the gas and coast to defeat. Simplified scheme and all that.

I kinda like the idea of schadenfreude spotlights even for teams that won...cuz not all wins are pretty.

But to not include the Wisky collapse or the utterly humiliating SC home loss to Texas A&M??? I mean, that's just criminal.
