It seriously makes the Marine look like a bobblehead doll spring is holding on his hat the way it bobbles around.  it totally makes the .gif.  I wish we had the footage from the opposite angle so we could see what the Longhorn was doing with his right hand that he appears to start to raise, and also to see his face when the Marine starts yelling.

Thank goodness, CU has just announced their anticipated coaching changes to potentially weather this storm.  They are moving the OC from the booth to the sideline this week.  Can't make this stuff up.

I should enjoy Colorado's futility more than I do because the hail mary still pisses me off.  Although we did get revenge with the fail mary game in Boulder and the ass kicking we gave them in 97, for some reason, I actually feel sorry for them sometimes.

In practice, "conduct unbecoming" is a catch-all charge used when -

-- you're not sure if the other charges you've got will stick due to evidence, technicalties, etc.

-- the allowed punishment for what the guy actually did seems insufficient, so you tack on the extra charge to make the punishment a little worse

-- the guy did something wrong and you don't like him and he's a fuck-up anyway (or the public will be really upset if he doesn't face JUSTICE) but it doesn't quite fit into the rest of the UCMJ

There isn't a snowflake's chance that guy would ever be charged with "conduct unbecoming a Marine."  For one thing, if his CO really felt strongly about punishing him for that, assuming he's assigned to the ROTC unit, it's a "shore unit" so he can request a court-martial instead of non-judicial punishment (NJP) and any court-martial would just laugh at the very idea of trying that particular case.  Like hitting a fly with a sledgehammer.  Secondly.....what?  You'd punish a decorated gunnery sergeant for that?  Probably one who's had an excellent and distinguished career since you don't assign just anyone to a ROTC unit.  At the very most I'd expect the CO or XO to tell him "Gunny, try not to lose your shit at the football game next time, OK?" and that would literally be the end of it.  I mean, if you court-martialed every Marine for yelling there'd be no Marine Corps.

(Not a Marine, but former Navy legal officer.)

Very informative!  I didn't know you were a JAG officer.  I did the Army JAG internship but couldn't service the law school debt load on First Lieutenant -> Captain's pay.  Kudos to you for being a better man - I wish I would have done things differently.  (Plus, attending JAG school in Charlottesville sounded like it would have been a lot of fun).

Confession and clarification: there is a HUGE difference between a "legal officer" and a JAG.  A JAG is a full-fledged lawyer.  A legal officer (at least in the Navy) is just a lowly junior officer who helps the CO and XO with the ship's legal issues, 99.9% of which are sailors getting in trouble.  It's kind of a side duty in addition to your regular ones.  You go through two weeks of classes to brush up on the Navy's legal rules, you occasionally advise the captain he can't do something he wants to do ("sir, I'm sorry but captain's mast doesn't allow for the death penalty") and you help the crew out with legal issues of their own up to the point where a JAG needs to get involved.  So I had a familiarity with the UCMJ and some legal ins and outs, but was a looooooong way from actual practicing lawyerdom.

It's a common mistake for civilians to confuse legal officers with actual JAGs, which comes in awfully handy when you're calling some debtor on behalf of a sailor to help him work out a payment plan, especially if the debt is a little bit shady.

How do we know he was mocking him?

It's a long shot to suggest the player went out of his way to go up to the marine to mock him as a celebration.

And, unless he was personally mocking him, the marine completely overreacted.

But it makes for a funny gif though.

Not sure if you've acutally been to Boulder or if you kept your eyes closed the whole time you were there but it is a beautiful town (with some beautiful girls.) Reminds me a little of AA (but with mountains).

EDIT: Sorry meant for Philbert

Ahh that MSU game does my heart wonders. Not that it emboldens me in playing Notre Dame (it doesn't), or MSU (it doesn't) for that matter. I wonder how bad MSU really is, but I'm even more curious about them being placed on Notre Dame's schedule before Michigan. Have they been the beneficiaries of a UM/ND soul drain before their game? Has MSU been Kenny Bania all these years?

Could we make that a meme? MSU is the Kenny Bania of college football.

McCartny and Barnett and they'll be bad for awhile.  It was always a little shady back then.  Under McCartny CU directly profitted from Oklahoma's probation period and filled the void of the post-Switzer era.  Meanwhile in Nebraska, Osborne was going through his lull as a coach before compromising his ethics to get that National Title in the mid 90's.

Everything was set up for McCartney to be succesful.  To be fair to McCartney though he was a hell of a football coach who turned a nothing program into something then capitalized on others downfall.

Yeah, Denver and Boulder are great, beautiful cities. Although the diversity is kind of lacking. I feel like they just need to tell players that they can smoke all the weed they want because in Boulder, everybody smokes.

I have actually had a Spartan fan say that Michigan has the second most obnoxious fanbase in the Big 10.  Give me a break.  We meltdown extraordinarily, but having survived the last coach (who I liked, so no flame wars), I think we held our shit together pretty well.  At least personally....
