For the life of me I can't understand why Colorado is so terrible.  I know their program was kind of shady when McCartney was winning big there, but is it really impossible for them to be clean and successful?

Then how can Colorado State and Air Force, which are located nearby, field halfway decent teams?  Not to mention the neighboring state of Utah, which has half the population of Colorado but has three respectable programs (Utah, BYU, USU).

Colorado won a national title in 1990.  They won a Heisman in 1994.  It's not like they have zero history.  They shouldn't be on the Indiana level.

Speaking of Colorado's terrible coaching, isn't Colorado's athletic department also in the hole, financially? I seem to remember them lacking the funds to pay for Hawkins' buy-out, let alone picking up a top-notch guy after ousting Hawkins.

I am this close to going all Dark Blue in here.

It has been (AD in financial trouble), and that's been a big part of the problem, although they are finally just about through the buyout of Hawkins + the buyout of the Big XII, and will be getting Pac12 revenues so that should be on its way out.  The real problems now are godawful coaching, and a university community that has no real interest in having a good football team.  If somehow the academic side can be made to see how valuable a successful football program can be to the school as a whole, there is hope, but until then (as it has been for the last 7-8 years), it's going to continue to be rough.

There's nothing sorta about it either.  The difference is telling kids the gov't owns them when they graduate.  The difference is the cadet code they have to live by... not every 18 year old is cut out for that.  Then there are the height and weight restrictions -- which impact is becoming less now that pilot slots at the AFA (and regular comissions) are no longer guaranteed.

I included columbus in my college town mainly for the fact it attracts pretty talented 18 year old kids more then it does boulder. Wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers as I had. AA is a favorite of mine mainly because I know the area and have had a lot of fun there.

To be quite fair, 0 TDs is a statistic, as are 23-45 and 187 yards passing.

Ill never forget my father taking my brothers and I to the Colorado game in 97. My father is the biggest pessimist of a Michigan fan iv ever met. On the way to the game that day he predicted a National title. After the game we went to a dinner at a place in Williamston Mi just so we could eat buffalo. That was the last game my brothers and I made it to together. I know CSB!
