" I honestly think everything has gone to his head cuz something is wrong." - WVU fan, regarding Geno Smith

This may very well be the first time that this Mountaineer fan has taken a dive into the football equivalent of "theory of mind", if you will, but to be honest, your team ran into four of the stingier defenses in the Big XII (as stingy as a Big XII defense can get anyway). Naturally, when other teams are defending you well, you bench the starting quarterback and put in a guy who has had maybe a series-worth of snaps all season because this materially improves your chances of beating Oklahoma on Saturday. Sage indeed.

I don't know about the other losses, but at least in the game against OSU (ntOSU), the wind had a definite effect on the passing.  I was sitting 5 rows up on the north side of the stadium and before the game started, they weren't showing any scores on the scoreboard, so my Sparty daughter was texting me updates on the Michigan game, and the punts kept sailing to the sidelines and into the stands, making my looking down at my phone quite an experience.  One ball missed me by less than 5 feet.  Geno Smith has a hell of an arm (and some excellent receivers), and I have little doubt that at least two long passes down field would have been completed were it not for the 30+ mph cross wind; one was almost a certain TD.  However, given WV's defense and turnovers, they still probably would have lost the game.

I was watching this game with a friend at a bar with no other NU fans. Other patrons were congratulating me on the "win" after the interception. I told them that we'd still lose, and they looked at me with blank stares. Then they watched and understood. This is what we do.

That was great, as usual, but the best thing about it by far was Brian linking to Orson's recap of every time he's crapped himself as an adult. If you did read it already, do so now:

12. My wife was sitting at a table in line with the kitchen. I didn't even misfire on a fart. This just flew out of my ass and straight to the floor with a plop that I understand now, as a parent, is the distinctive sound of some human byproduct hitting the floor. It happened with such horrifying speed, going straight down the leg with such exit velocity it didn't even soil the shorts.

As someone who has had something very similar happen as an adult, I totally lost it at that part. So good.

"Northwestern played Russian Roulette with a 1,000 barrel revolver and a single bullet, and yet here we are, sweeping their brains off the floor. We looked around and said "you can't be serious!", and whoever "you" is, he wanked aggressively and confirmed to us that he was. He was and remains completely serious, and every second we are closer to dying is his new favorite second."

Also fucking hilarious and genius.

The fan that jumped the gate at the Bama and A&M game and pretended to be on the staff is the story of the year. Absolutely epic. I love how he runs off the field with the team and takes pictures with various different important people.

Kudos my friend. You are clearly fan of the year!!!

Gotta love the Bama fans calling for the firing of the OC lol

Scott Tenorman of the Week should be Scott Tenorman of the Year.

As thrilled as I was for our crazed victory last Saturday, I felt the tiniest bit bad for Northwestern. This dude's post brilliantly says why. It's hard to hate them.

When I saw him at Akron early in the season, he was so excited to be recruiting a girl who had won the Soapbox Derby and could take her $5000 scholarship to any school!! Why would he leave that sweet deal (to say nothing of the show cause)?
