no mention of Coach Orgeron is complete without:
His dad is a fricken crazy person
In other news, Leon McQuay III's pyloric sphincter has contracted. Updates at 11.
Best of wishes to Mr McQuay and son and I hope all goes well with them.
But at this point, it just seems like there are too many warning signs that though the TALENT might be a fit, the CULTURE may not be. Michigan has always been about THE TEAM. And if what sets Michigan apart hasn't been enough to get buy-in at this point, perhaps Leon's needs would be better served elsewhere.
I like Michigan talented. But I also like it team-oriented, and would sacrifice talent for culture fit any day. ESPECIALLY these days, given the talent coming in. To placate a lot of wavering and interlocuters in communication sets up too many bad precedents for Hoke. Not worth it.
Again, good luck, Leon. If you want to march in without the shuffle, without the atmosphere of negotiation, then welcome.
Otherwise best for all for you to find one of the programs that will accommodate/bargain/address your unique requirements. They're out there. Good for you to recognize that you have some unique requirements that are making you vacillate even at this stage.
But individualized requirements for enrollment just aren't a big thing in Ann Arbor.
We're all about great education opportunities, pro-level football instruction, a winning tradition of teamwork, amazing uniforms, and a coaching staff renowned for its genuine attention to developing not just good players, but good people.
If that sounds good, join the TEAM. If not, good luck to you.
Rock on, Leon.
dude. Aesop wrote a fable about you once...
Honestly, this is why you shouldn't follow kids twitter accounts; recruiting isn't for the feint of heart. They are kids, extremely talented, and most likely pampered kids. We obviously want him here and not somewhere else so stop this TEAM crap. You sound like one of those people who like the No Fun League. Its a game homie. relax...
needless to say, I don't care what his dad says and I hope we get him. And as for 'selfish' players. I want a player who is accustomed to, and desires to, be the reason we win the game. I wish we had more of those guys on our team right now. Look at woodson and the swagger of our late nineties teams. Look at Braylon. it goes on and on.
I hear ya, but it's not sour grapes at all: it's just reading the situation as a kid and his family who are negotiating aggressively. And I just don't think Michigan is desperate enough to have to create a precedent of it under Hoke.
It'll make more problems than he's worth in the long run.
You look at this behavior and see shades of Woodson.
I don't. I see shades of Maurice Clarett.
Wanting TEAM oriented players doesn't mean we don't want players with swagger: just players who swagger for the right reasons. I DON'T want players "who want to be the reason we win the game."
I want players who want the team to win the game, and will do whatever it takes, even for individual sacrfices, for the good of the team. The kind of guys you are talking about lead to tattoogate, etc.
And I like Hoke far too much to have him end up like Tressel.
And you ACTUALLY wrote, "stop this TEAM crap"?!?
Good God, man: don't you know the history of your own team?
“We want the Big Ten championship and we’re gonna win it as a Team. They can throw out all those great backs, and great quarterbacks, and great defensive players, throughout the country and in this conference, but there’s gonna be one Team that’s gonna play solely as a Team. No man is more important than The Team. No coach is more important than The Team. The Team, The Team, The Team, and if we think that way, all of us, everything that you do, you take into consideration what effect does it have on my Team? Because you can go into professional football, you can go anywhere you want to play after you leave here. You will never play for a Team again. You’ll play for a contract. You’ll play for this. You’ll play for that. You’ll play for everything except the team, and think what a great thing it is to be a part of something that is, The Team. We’re gonna win it. We’re gonna win the championship again because we’re gonna play as team, better than anybody else in this conference, we’re gonna play together as a team. We’re gonna believe in each other, we’re not gonna criticize each other, we’re not gonna talk about each other, we’re gonna encourage each other. And when we play as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know, it’s gonna be Michigan again, Michigan.”
Oh no, what are we going to do??
an indictment of you sharing this information with us - thanks by the way. I just do not get how sometimes people want every detail of their lives known and feel the urge to share through "social media." I do not know the father and am not bashing on him either - I know people keep asking him and he feels the need to share but I miss the good old days when I did not have to hear what every Hollywood celebrity thinks about Chi tea or global warming.
Or does the son seem more mature than the dad? Dad is creating the drama.
No, I think we're all with you on that one.
you know, judging people by their writing skills is a little bit elitist. We can't all be Wolverine grads but at least we can accept people for how they choose to communicate...
you guys dissappoint the hell out of me lately. This board has become a caricature of itself in so many ways...
sorry to be a downer but jesus...
People don't ignore anything anymore.
Dead period = Closer scrutiny of each comment.
Save the women and the children first!
I think there might be a problem with your shift key.
very well played sir!
Not surprised by this at all. The hire at Pruitt at FSU is what is causing the delay.
this is one of those times when i just say get back to me when he commits, wherever that may be. there are some recruits, or some parents of recruits, who clearly just enjoy the attention they receive every time they send out a tweet, and they'll tweet anything to get a rise out of people. given how intensely many of us follow recruiting, i can't say i blame them. hell, i'd consider doing the same thing if i were in their shoes, if for no other reason than to just mess with people.
