Turner Gill to Kansas

Submitted by Eyebrowse on

ESPN just gave the "breaking news" that Turner Gll is going to be the new head coach at Kansas. So, I guess that means Harbaugh is sticking around at Stanford.

Harbaugh gave his outright denial of the KU job this morning. Great for Turner Gill though. The guy has done one hell of a job elevating Buffalo from Buffalo to a decent to good MAC program in a short time. That's a great hire for KU.

It would be kind of hard to leave a bathroom of that quality. I imagine that Stanford has some other positives as well, such as California weather and Palo Atlo more generally. Of course, Kansas has cold and flat going for it.

I was really hoping that after clicking on this thread I wouldn't find some heresay from a rivals or scout board. Thanks for the info, and thanks for not wasting everyone's time with rumors.

I thought if you were a black man married to a white woman nobody in a BCS conference would want you?? (Sarcasm) I think it's a great pickup for Kansas though. I thought he should have been the front runner for the Auburn gig last year. The amount of wins he got at Buffalo is very impressive given the state of the program when he took it over.

Great hire for KU and great opportunity for TG. I'm sure they still remember him in the Big 12, too. Maybe he will give Nebraska another rivalry game in a year or two.

Regardless of how it turns out it is a good hire. Gill worked hard and paid his dues at Buffalo...turning not much into something pretty good. Kudos to him. This is the way it should work.

Good for Gill. I don't follow UBuffalo sports as much as I should, but to take a team that had gone 5-29 over 3 years to a bowl game and a pair of 5-7 campaigns is impressive. He'll hopefully keep Kansas on the rise, and certainly the Big 12 North could use another decent program.

Gil should have a solid shot at recruiting the heartland with his Nebraska roots.

I figured the Harbaugh rumors were wrong, ESPN radio reported that he got a 3 year extension from the Cardinal. Perhaps he used the rumors to draw up some extra bucks.
