TTU v. OU / Leaving the game early

Submitted by MGoBender on

This game is getting overshadowed by the MSU/Wisco game, but holy hell.

OU is working on an epic comeback and a third of the fans have left.  This seems crazy to me.  I think back to '08 Wisconsin and that comeback was witnessed by a full Big House.  Granted it happened in the third quarter, but still I expect more of the fans here.

If OU scores on this drive, it's a one possession game with 3 minutes left...

Well shit, stupid me for creating a thread.  OU goes all lolsparty and clanks a 30 yd FG to make it a moot point.  Barring a miracle, OU goes down.

They didn't even write it. They took the first half from Yale ("Boola Boola" became "Boomer Sooner") and the second half from North Carolina ("I'm a Tarheel Born and a Tarheel Bred" became "I'm a Sooner Born and a Sooner Bred")

But I bet that killed a lot of the crowd. Then again there was a clear shot of people pouring out after the TD pass to the back of the endzone halfway through the 4th. Pretty pathetic. Somebody blowup that damn band--I'd probably leave too.

I wish I could say that the Big House was full during that comeback, but unfortunately was more 3/4th full is not less. Those who stayed saw one hell of a comeback though, and before this year (WMU in the rain and UTL), my favorite game in the Big House (08 was my freshman year).

I mean, I'm not calling you out or anything, but I don't at all remember people leaving.

We made the comeback pretty early in the third quarter.  I was a junior and what I remember distinctly was that it was the most raucous Michigan Stadium had ever been in my 4/5 years there.

I don't really see the empty seats that I saw tonight at Oklahoma.

Looking at those videos (sweet videos btw), it definitely seems like your memory is serving you much better then mine. I think my memory might be biased since I remember having to find new friends to sit (stand) with because the kids I originally came with left early when it looked like we were going to lose.

We left 08 Wisconsin with a couple minutes only played. I was at the game with my 2 brother in laws and my wife's grandlfather. My wife's grandfather had a heart attack in the stands. Talk about scary, the crowd immediately shrank and a couple men yelled out that they were doctors. A couple minutes later they were loading him onto a stretcher and out of the stadium. I was initially worried being packed in so tight, but all the people around us made room (when it seemed like there wasn't any to give). We finished watching the game from the hospital after they stabilized him. He had to spend the night and was displeased about it. He did end up being ok. We did get to hear some funny stories from the ER staff, and some lady had overdosed on drugs (one curtain over from him and not a fatal amount, but she was yelling obscenities and moaning), this completely displeased him him because he didn't want to go to the game that morning. His wife had assured him that he would be ok, he would be with the boys so nothing bad should happen. I will say this on topic though - I have seen the trend of leaving the game early becoming more and more prevalent. It is saddening that they are from major programs too. I am a big fan of the comeback, so I don't leave until its over.

MSU got to enjoy about an hour of being the most talked about team in the land. Bumped from every front page. Sorry bud you're yesterday's news. Literally.

I was at the OU game tonight, and it was pretty crazy empty in the south endzone, and maybe only 2/3 full throughout the rest of the stadium - however, we sat in the concourse for 1.5 hours, and there was no room, everyone scrunched against each other. That is when most left.

Still a bit weak though, comparatively.

Choklahoma is a finesse team. They can't run the ball between the tackles and their defense is mediocre at best. They'll beat Oklahoma State, and the Big 12 will be out of the BCSNC picture. As will the Big Ten and Big East. Pac12(Stanford?) ACC(Clemson?) SEC(BAMA?LSU?) Or is this year Boise State finally makes it in? I don't see how anyone can beat LSU. LSU could beat 16 NFL teams.
