Dantonio would go to OSU if Tressel was gone?
Wouldn't they be looking for LESS trouble? If Dantonio went there, they'd have to start worrying about arrest records in addition to violations.
The question isn't whether Dantonio would go to OSU, it's whether OSU would offer Dantonio.
I don't know how many A-list hires are available. RR and Shannon were the only big league firings this year, both for performance issues; Muschamp has his HC job, Malzahn doesn't show any intention of looking for a job. I think Meyer's a pipe dream until at least 2012; I doubt he'd retire again for only a year.
OSU doesn't strike me as the type of school that would go for an "A List" hire. They would hire someone on the rise with ties to Ohio and the program.
That's what I was getting at with Dantonio. There really aren't many better candidates from their point of view.
Urban has been rumored by a lot of insider types to be the next coach. He went to OSU and was an assistant under Bruce. He's also from Ohio and got his first coaching gig at Bowling Green.
Obviously you're closer to the situation, so you probably know better, but I have a hard time picturing him becoming Brett Farve. If you can hang onto Tressel this year I think it makes more sense for Urban to come than if he's gone this summer.

Sitting in Bio 173 lecture watching it on ESPN 3, but I don't have any volume since I have to at least pretend that I'm paying attention so I've missed all of the chanting fun. Wish I would have heard it.
Eh. I don't like it. Makes us look bitter for being 1-9 against him. Plus, the institution, and not just Tressel, needs to be punished.
You make a fair point, so not sure why you were negged for that. But, I disagree. Anything that puts OSU in a negative media light (like the one we were in for 3 years) hurts them, and by nature of hurting them, helps us. Let the FB recruits see this on TV. Let other coaches be able to say to these recruits, "son, you don't want to go to OSU - you don't know who you will be playing for once the NCAA is done with them."
Not saying that Hoke and Company would ever say this, but if others do, all the more power to them. OSU has been winning by cheating for years, so anything that evens the odds is fine by me.
Buckeye fans got a lot of mileage out of the "Fire/Keep Rich Rod!!!" stuff. In this case, I have absolutely no problem returning the favor.

The announcer just commented that the only way you can get a ring is by winning the regualr season championship, the conference tournament championship, reaching the final four, or by winning the national championship. He forgot to add being the highest bidder on ebay.

Hey OSU fan- yes you with the coffee stain on your wife beater, or the 1990-era mullet - can you please put down your mop and slop bucket for a minute so that we can talk. Hope you enjoyed your three years of mocking the fact that our coach was on the hot seat. Hope you enjoyed all those times you called our coach dickrod or claimed that his "lack of ethics" would land us in serious trouble. Remember all of those comments about how Michigan went out and hired a wannabe SEC slimebag for a coach, while OSU was being coached by the upstanding, ethical Jim Tressel.

Another pretty funny moment from this game was when the announcers were saying why tOSU wants to win the tournament. They were saying that kids win rings for Big Ten Championships, BTT Championship, and NC, and that kids really want those rings. I think we were all thinking, "Yeah, they want more memorabilia to sell..."

Remember before the 2006 game when Chris Perry went out and called Jim Tressel a cheater? He got a lot of shit from the media (Locally and nationally) because it seemed as if it was a baseless accusation. Turns out, he was right!
