I think that the US junior national team is interested, and that Michigan will allow him to play, is good news in terms of being on his way back. I don't think Red would let him play if he didn't think he was on good behavior as of late.

Hope he gets everything together.

As much as it suck to be without Pronger, Crosby etc. you have I give the NHL credit for taking head injuries seriously. Seems like they've learned a lot more the past few years about player safety than the NFL

on the Michigan Rivals free board for hockey think he'll be back after the WJC and they have as much feel for the pulse of the program as anybody.  I think if Red intended him to be suspended for the rest of the year, he would have said so already, but he just said, that Merrill is suspended "indefinitely".  I also don't think Red would give Merrill his blessing to play at the WJC, or to practice and be in all team events if he was going to keep him out the entire season.  I could be wrong, but I would expect to see Merrill back right after the WJC and if not then, by the State game at Joe Louis at the end of January.
