tsio Withdrawal Anyone?

Submitted by winterblue75 on

Anyone else going through some tsio scandal news withdrawal? Or are people enjoying the break?

I think there may be an inference to the hostesses offering "enticements" but the clearest thing I picked up was that they think the hostesses are funneling money to the prospects... hence the guy who returned from a visit with cash and a phone.

A male could just as well funnel money to them as a female, but let's face it.. the prospects are going to be much happier with a good-looking Tigrette assigned to host their visit.  I wouldn't be surprised if things happened, but also think it would be very hard to prove.  But if they can establish a clear money trail, that would be really hard to deny.

"When you begin to formalize a relationship based upon a contract — that's why my wife and I don't have a prenup[tual] — you are actually challenging whether or not you have trust in that relationship. I trust our student athletes. I trust the young ladies who have volunteered to be a part of this program. I am not an individual that believes in setting up structure, setting up contracts to make an organization successful."

That's in 2003 from the Athletic Director of Arizona State University, Mr. Gene Smith (Yes That Gene Smith).

You set up a structure, you lose plausible deniability. I begin to understand the man's qualifications for his current position.

I'm against stupid nicknames like almost everyone here, like O$U or whatever other clever sayings people come up with nowadays, but tsio is not bad. It's what Bo and Hoke said (except they aren't quite cool enough to abbreviate it), and IMO, it's acceptable.

But then again, my opinion doesn't matter, so there's that..

IME it's nothing more than a ripoff of the way OSUers use Woody Hayes' "that state up north" phrase, and ripping off insults (i.e. "you call us little brother so we'll call you little sister") is a Sparty thing to do.

P.S. - I don't think Bo ever said it (but I'm not 100% sure.)  Pretty sure it was just Hoke's press conference.

Nope, it's kind of nice actually. And I agree with icefins, I'd like to see another Hello post soon. I was hoping Jordan Diamond was going to pull the trigger this past weekend, since he visited twice in such a short time, but I guess we've all just been spoiled by the past few months. What's up with high schoolers taking their time to make rational decisions anyway?

Who is the next best candidate for witness protection and immunity? Or is more payola in exchange for incriminating evidence the way to go? We can get someone  to sing. . .

I'm enjoying the break.  I was getting a little overwhelmed trying to figure out which stories I could best use to harrass my coworkers.  And I haven't had any death threats (lol) for being an Ohio traitor for a while!

A little bit.  I am still hoping to hear that the NCAA has revised the notice of infractions that they sent OSU, or issued a new one.  Otherwise I get worried about how hard the hammer will drop.

If I had a choice between a new scandal uncovered at OSU every day for the next month, or once a week for the next 30 weeks, I'd go for the latter by far. Even better would be twice a month for the next two years. The pain would be sublime to witness. Just think . . . they would assume things are getting better, they can relax, and then, BAMM! Another serving of humble pie and fresh pain. The slow method will also help us much more on the recruiting trail. Really, I can't wait for more informants to crawl out from rocks and reveal names, cars, cash, etc., etc. What I'm really waiting for is finding out that some profs or TA's fraudulantly gave passing grades to football players. However, Tats, Cars, Cash, favors of other kinds, it doesn't matter. It's all good.

Speaking of timing, what is the timetable with the NCAA? What happens in August, in the Fall, and beyond? I think a 3 year Bowl Ban would have an incredible impact on what recruits do, and could help a lot with Brionte Dunn.

Since we are having a temporary break from OSU scandalmania how about some good ole fashioned RR hate.

I know it is off topic but I don't have enough points to start my own thread. The article is long winded and boring but the writer is basically saying CBS is trash for hiring RR because he did nothing but recruit thugs and criminals.

I don't care what your impressions were of the man as a coach but to basically call him scum because pac-man and Chris Henry had some run ins with the law POST college days? Someone has a pompous soap box.

Maybe that is the problem, that the administration wouldn't let RR get "HIS" kids. Really, RR "got it" but the administation didn't. Look at the Demar Dorsey scandal! The kids are coming here to play FOOTBALL, I don't know why the adminstration of the U has to get all tied up in this.

The NYP is a joke of a publication. Plus I think the dead horse has been beaten enough here. I don't think anyone here truly would wish harm or ill will on RR. This topic has been discussed ad nauseum. I THINK I can speak for pretty much everyone here that any more RR posts/threads would be incredibly unnecessary.

Did not mean to beat a dead horse. I like RR. I just thought the article was laughable and biased. I wish the best to RR and will enjoy watching him at his next coaching gig.
