Trouble Selling Front Row Tickets to Penn State on eBay
I purchased the "All In" ticket package this year but couldn't make it to the games. My tickets came and my seats for the Penn State game ended up being in the first row on the Michigan sideline. I have been really surprised at how hard it has been to get rid of them on eBay. Maybe I have figured they are worth to much because I have been trying to get what I would pay for front row seats to this game. Well now it is down to the wire and they are listed with no reserve and the price is still really low. I figured I would post this here for those interested. This could end up being a steal. Because people have already bid I have to sell to the winning bidder. Right now 4 tickets in the front Row are only at $102.

with all your complaining I figured they ended in the next couple hours with the tickets "being down to the wire". First off, a lot of people don't like seats that low. Long walk to the seats and impossible to make it out at halftime. Front row along the sidelines from previous experience aren't that great as some of your view is blocked by players on the sidelines.

FYI row 1 isn't the front row, row A is. So advertising your tickets as front row is misleading. I'd be pissed if I bought tickets thinkng they were in the front row and when you go to take your seat you find out they're not. You might want to alter your advertisement to avoid any confusion. I miss my front row seats I had last year even if they were behind the visiting band. Row 1 is still great though don't get me wrong (I'm in row 1 north endzone)

Row 1 and then letters. I think it starts with letter M, I believe. I might be mistaken.
I'm not sure ebay was the best option to try to get rid of them. Most people looking for tickets are going to start with StubHub and Craigslist.

Last year my student tickets were in Row B, which was the second row. Row A was in front of us, and Row 1 was behind us. So whatever row number your ticket says, its actually two higher than that.
This is assuming that the rest of the stadium is like the student section, which I think is a fair assumption to make.

i went to the illinois game like 7 years ago in Row B and it was amazing.
though i may or may not have been hammered drunk, i vividly remember Fritz Crisler in the front row with lynyrd skynyrd practicing field goal reps behind him.

It goes row A, B then row 1,2,etc. I always try to get row A as I like to take photos with my telephoto lens to get up close shots. I'm in the process of getting tickets to the OSU game. I would love to git to the PSU game but can't make it.

I agree. Would have gone those routes. Comparable tickets to the OP's are going for $175 a piece on Stubhub. If you price it less than that, you should be able to sell it easily.

I've been looking for Penn State tickets so I'll keep an eye on them. I'd give you face for the 4 right now if we could get around the buy it now price but I'm guessing you are hoping for more.

I'm not a big fan of sitting that low. I'm sure that many others feel the same. Even if the seats were on the 50 yard line, you have some difficulty seeing the plays at both end zones. Give me Rows 25-35, personally.
But, mainly, I agree that Stubhub is the place to go in the future.

I sat in section 3, row 1 (20 yard line SE side) for the 2007 PSU game, while my normal seats are section 4, row 22 (15 yard line SE side) and I much prefer the seats in row 22. Often times during the PSU game, my sight lines in row 1 were blocked by the PSU bench. In row 22 I am able to see the whole field (except for maybe the NE endzone corner) but still feel quite close to the action.
Quick, semi-pointless aside: that PSU game also provided me with 2 seconds of fame as I was briefly on TV for the 3rd and 4th down plays for PSU (Morelli dead duck pass attempts) on their last possession of the game (that ended in turnover on downs).

are much higher than E-Bay and there is less flexibility in price and methods of shipping. I generally prefer to sell tickets on Ebay. I will buy sometimes on stubhub if the price is low enough.

True, commissions are 15%. You kind of have to factor that in when selling. I try to sell for amount where 15% taken off would get me to face, to make up for the commissions. But it's awfully easy to use especially if u have etickets for something.

a commission too, on Stubhub. So, assuming you can get the buyer is willing to shell out the same on both sites, the seller keeps more on E-Bay. Granted, the guarantees on stubhub might cause a buyer to be willing to pay more there, but that premium may not be much if the seller has a high ebay rating.

Ebay's fees were lower and I thought that an auction would get me a better price. I did not know that Stub Hub offered auctions.

I sat in row B on the michigan side on the 30 yard line right next to the BB recruits. Got to talk to John Beilein. I thought they were great, great seats.

I think standard practice on eBay to prevent people from trying to make copies of your picture is to blur out the seat number (and maybe a couple other features?) Also, I've noticed with a lot of other postings that people don't even tell you what seats they are just stuff like "45 YD line" to prevent people from faking the seats and since yours are so close to the field I can imagine some sketchy scalpers trying to fake 'em.

lame that ticket scalping is not legal? i think it's more lame to not resell it at cost to someone who would appreciate it but doesn't have the finances or opportunity more than "to the highest bidder."

I'd be happy to sell the best games at cost if I would be guaranteed that people will buy my worst games at cost. Barring that, ND, MSU, PSU and OSU always end up subsidizing my losses on Eastern Michigan, Delaware State, etc.
Ideally, I'd go to all the games, but the 4000 mile round trip is a little taxing on the marriage and the wallet.

that's where a site like this might be clutch for you. going into the season, make a post looking for students/locals willing to pre-buy them at-cost.
and, ftr, i'm referring to the Original Poster posting about his tickets in hopes people will bid on them, which obviously is the case. it's just douchey.

Then Bill Martin scheduled EMU and Delaware State, and suddenly we had tickets I was all-but-certain to take 50% losses on. At that point, ND and PSU ticket prices went up by the amount of my expected losses. I also tried to sell bundles of ND-EMU and DSU-PSU, which helped me move some of them. In the end, we broke even - I think I'm up about $50 total on the season. In the future, I'll probably do more of the same - bundle less-desirable games with the hotter games. Not looking to get rich, just don't want to take a big loss.

It's lame that people will try to rip others off by attempting to make a fake ticket based off their eBay auction. Based off the context of the post I was replying to, I'm not sure how you made that assumption that I was referring to scalping.

why no one has been bidding on these tickets is that the "item specifics" section lists the game as "Michigan Wolverines vs Western" which is misleading even though it is elsewhere listed as the Penn State game.

yes, the ticket is fine but the debate is not if people are afraid to go to the game for fear of a blowout but, instead, WHY CAN'T I GET MORE FOR MY TICKET? further, i think it's absurd to bitch about not getting more than $100 for a ticket illegally. i purchased my PSU tickets individually, as was requited by the Athletic Department, and had to buy four in order to lump 3 together. with one extra, a 50 yard line, 50th row ticket, i sold it to a former classmate for $100 - $80 being its face value and $20 of it going to charity.
this post, however, is merely greed.

I don't have a huge problem with the scalping (although if I were Brian I would probably delete posts like this), although I almost always sell my tickets for right around face value. But what rubbed me the wrong way slightly was the idea that the post was couched in terms that seemed to merely be asking a question about the market for these tickets but ended up being an effort to get 30,000 more eyes on an eBay auction. The OP said he was alerting everybody here to a potential deal, but that's kind of disingenuous.
Also, yeah, three days left on the auction, and anybody who has bid on something on eBay knows that the feeding frenzy generally happens as the auction is closing. So, sit tight; you'll probably end up getting around 400 bucks for your tickets.
ETA: And now the auction's up to 305 bucks in an hour or two.

I don't know if it is the seller or ebay that sets this, but that seems insane. I guess adding insurance and tracking is probably expensive.
I do know that a lot of time people jack the shipping costs to make some extra cash.

It covers the costs of me shipping to Michigan overnight. I live in North Carolina and it usually takes three days. I usually offer priority shipping for $5 if the buyer is comfortable with that.
