Trouble with selling DSU game tickets?

Submitted by HartAttack20 on
My dad wasn't able to sell his tickets for this weekend's game, so we will be in attendance this saturday. Probably won't stay the whole game as it should be a blowout, but I'm not upset that I have to attend another Michigan football game. As long as the weather is decent, I have no problem with that. Anybody else having trouble selling their tickets? I'm guessing the attendance for this game will be relatively low. Big game against PSU next weekend, though. It's a little odd to go from the worst team on your schedule to on of the top two teams you play.

What I can't understand is why people wouldn't want to go watch this team tee off on a lesser opponent on a crisp fall day in Ann Arbor. Was I the only one at the Toledo game last year, sitting in mouth agape, abject misery? I will relish every opportunity for sweet, sweet victory. Now, I'm not so vain as to suggest that I won't be hammered, but I'm still going to be there with pride.

or App. State, who beat a UM team with the NFL number 1 draft pick and a quarterback that just threw for 260 plus on MNF. I have heard a lot of "after Michigan wins this game" this week. I have learned my lesson from years past. Michigan has to beat the mighty Hornets before Penn State. As rediculous as it sounds, I turned my TV off after Michigan's first drive against App. State..... won't make that mistake again.

attendance will probably be pretty low at this game. I've already had 3 or 4 of the kids in my section spam me about selling their tickets....and we're in row 8.

We'll be there, but it will be interesting to see what it looks like. I know the MO is to play a cupcake for the 8th home game to make money, but I'm kind of afraid they will have to resort to "tickets sold" to keep the streak of 100,000 plus crowds intact. Kind of like how Crisler always had something like 8 or 9k in the box scores, when it was obviously about 3-4k were there. Hope I'm wrong. I still say play someone like UL-Lafayette or Idaho or whatever, it will be the same result and not look as bad.

It's fall break too, so many students in the student section will be gone. Facebook marketplace is full of people trying to sell their tickets. I got a ticket in Row 1 for $20 bucks for my little brother.

I love looking through the listings for tickets on facebook and seeing $25 or $30 for one ticket for DSU. Does anyone actually think they're going to get that?

the School of Public Health listserv is constantly spammed with people selling tickets. I'm amazed at how many tickets have gone for $20.... what a bunch of suckers! I'm inviting as many friends as possible to the game, figuring we can get tix immediately prior for about $5 a pop. I'm doing my part, small though it may be... man, it always sickens me to see a ton of empty seats in the stadium during game time

DSU provides a great opportunity to see a Michigan game from "blue hair" seats. I've seen one game from Section 2. The scalpers will be cursing people Saturday offer prices will be way down.

We've got an extra we absolutely cannot get rid of. And I know at least 3 or 4 other people who are in the same predicament. There are still tickets available from the University as well. This is probably going to be a sparse one.

I have a pair, but I'm looking for a pair. I'm driving down from Petoskey. If you have 2 together, let me know. I may have a couple interested. It's 275 miles, so I can't go to every game.

I had a hard time through craiglist selling hockey tickets (NHL) for a game I was going to miss going out of town. I put them up on Stubhub and they were sold the next day, at $8 more per ticket (to make up for the 15% Stub Hub takes in commision, sheesh). I'd use Stubhub. As long as you price your tickets fairly compared to others in your section and row (i.e. undercut) it's likely you'll get rid of them. You just can't try to extract as much as possible as then it likely won't sell. You have to remember that there are a lot of non-students that may have to travel to come down for a game. Many, like myself, prefer to make arrangements ahead of time rather than coming down and taking a gamble on scalpers or meeting people off of craigslist the day of. In addition to knowing the tix are legit, there is the added convenience (and laziness) of sitting on ur couch and having the tickets mailed to u rather than meeting someone.

that we might fail to get 100K ... it seems at least 1 out of every 2 students that I talk to are leaving early for fall break and i fully expect the top rows to be empty as all get out ... student tix are going for absolutly nothing right now (literally below $5) ... cant say i blame the kids leaving thou ... it doubles there time at home ... however I do look forward to watching a major beat down from a great seat before my break

I'm thinking it'll be like Northwestern in the fourth quarter at the start of the game. For the NU game I managed to move from row 86 or something down to row 2 by the end of the game, but I'm thinking on Saturday I might be able to go down there at the start of the game. It's looking like it'll be really empty.

I was one of those that left, only the second game I've ever left. The first was 2005 PSU as a very, very (did I mention very?) stupid freshman. Never making that mistake ever again. NEVER.
After staying through every game all year in the Year of Infinite Pain (my senior year, ugh) plus the freezing rain/snow and I'm pretty sure a nice case of hypothermia beginning to set in, I decided it was time to leave.

There were plenty of empty seats high up by the press box for Indiana. If the Athletic Department was honest, they'd man up and admit a less-than-100K crowd. But then Bill Martin would have the shit-stain of single-handedly ruining the streak, and he doesn't want to admit that. This game is an embarrassment and should never have been scheduled. Martin has done a lot of good things as AD, but football scheduling has been a disaster under him.

Part of the problem is that the game is not sold out. A few weeks ago I was able to get 40 yard line seats in about row 50. I'm really looking forward to the game. I've never had seats this good.

... during a 3-9 season for Toledo we'll certainly be able to get 100k for a 4-2 team that's lost 2 games by a combined total (in regulation) of 2 points. Last year Toledo was a consistent dweller of ESPN's Bottom 10 - they'll get 100k and even if it's by tickets sold but that's not really a big deal as that's how everybody does it (as far as I'm aware). I'm really shocked tho and totally agree with TomHagan - if you've got tickets and don't already have plans to head out of state why in the world would you pass up an opportunity to see Michigan play?

and happy to have room to move down. I was also at the NW game and got down to the "blue hair section." The best part of this 5 hour road trip for me is that I will drink much, eat plenty, and watch a win. The ride home after a win is soooooo much better. I think Tate should have very limited reps in this one, and it should be a good chance to get Denard some passing lessons in live action. Minor should rage on this team, and always like to see the young guys get in for reps. Is JT Turner just going to redshirt? I thought he would be starting at safety by now, but I guess the walk-on, Kovacs, is better right now. Or, are they just holding him back because they can?

I'm expecting this game will be full, but only on lots of people with low income driving out to buy tickets on game day. What I don't get is why, exactly, people don't just go to the game. If you've paid face value for your ticket, and can't get at least that, then just go and enjoy it!

I have been a loyal Wolverine fan since I was old enough to see those wicked Winged Helmets and hear "The Victors" blare as the players ran out of the tunnel and jumped to touch the "Go Blue" banner (approximately 30 years). Due to various reasons, many beyond my control, I have never been able to attend a game at The Big House. Until now. That is going to change on Saturday and I am having a hard time focusing on anything but going to the game. My son just turned one and in 2011 I will take him to his first game at Michigan Stadium. We will go at least once every year thereafter, no matter what it costs, to take in the sight that it took me 30 years of triumphs and tribulations to experience for myself. Do I wish it was a marquee opponent? Of course. Will it make it any less special? Absolutely not. Do I sound corny? I hope so. I have been reading this blog for about 8 months now and just created an account last week. Just before the home opener I read all of the other posters' comments and stories about their first games and knew that on 10/17/09 I would experience the same thing. If you are having trouble selling your tickets, there is always someone less privileged who would appreciate them and the experience more than you can ever imagine. There was a blog a while back about donating tickets, link - http://mgoblog.com/diaries/what-do-unused-tickets - This would be a great way to make someone's day, or maybe even their lifetime! See you all on Saturday. I'll be one of your 111,000 best friends and having the time of my life!!

Michigan tickets have been hard to sell for years. No surprise that the DSU ticket is hard to get rid of. Personally, I would rather watch Texas/Oklahoma or even Iowa/Wisco than this game. But, like Blaze said above, I have the tickets and how can you not enjoy a fall afternoon in the Bog House. Even if I go alone because nobody else wants to come.

A: "Bog House". Awesome. If they moved Michigan to the deep south, I guess. B: No, they are not. Two guys at work had season tickets. One kept Purdue and OSU, the other, I can't recall. All of the remaining tickets from both guys sold out here in an hour.

I'm not surprised that people are having trouble getting rid of an individual ticket. I love reading those ticket selling sites where delusional season ticket holders are tring to get rid of their tickets for face value. This is probably the worst team that Michigan has ever played at home, and it is the fifth home game so people are not as hungry as they were a month and a half ago. Plus, the weather is supposed to be sort of yucky and the team is on track for about 7 wins. This might be the most sparsely attended game since at least 1995. I would go to it and buy a ticket outside the gate for $10 if Texas-OU wasn't on at the same time.

Our tickets are sec. 1, row 28 (48 yard line), and my son begrudgingly took them off my hands - he prefers the student section. I had a hard time giving them away. I can't believe we are playing Delaware State. The school has under 4,000 students. I was in attendance at the App State and Toledo debacles, but really. If we can't compete against decent programs, they are not the Wolverines I support so ardently.

Look, I dont care who we are playing. It is an honor and a privilege to get to go cheer on the team in the Big House. Who is with me!

I was in school at UM in the early 70s and then in the early 80s, and there was no goddamn "fall break." You had Thanksgiving and that was it. Jesus, kids are fucking spoiled these days, and I wish they'd get off my lawn.
