Trey Zeigler

Submitted by save_me_forcier on

UMhoops just made a post about Trey Zeigler and his rising value, maybe worthy of a 5-star rating. He is supposedly going to cut his list of schools down to 5 in the next couple of months.

Does anyone Michigan's chances on getting a commit from this kid?

I love clicking on things that I'm not sure I want to click on.

Quoting Brian directly, "I'd support more informative thread titles since there's nothing I hate more than that moment of terror when someone posts a thread title like "Tate Forcier"; first and foremost I'd make the thread title more informative, like "Tate Forcier is awesome" or "Tate Forcier decommits, everyone commit suicide now.""

To whoever gave me a thumbs down for this,
Brian has expressly asked that we have informative headlines. This was in large part to cut down on vague subjects that were too often just a player or recruit's name. The headline is currently just "Trey Zeigler". We can do better.

Meh. Sometimes it's better to just let this stuff go. For the most part, headlines have been vastly improved. It's not like this guy used "Michigan Basketball" as his header... If you can't see "Trey Zeigler," the name of a Michigan basketball recruit, and figure out that the post probably has something to do with his recruitment and/or performance, no level of detail will ever be enough for you.

Also, quit worrying about the thumbs downs.

I'm not worried about thumbs down for the sake of my own point total, I could care less about that. Brian made that sticky for the purpose of cutting down on headlines like this. My problem with the negative points is that it shows contempt for what Brian asked for. A post titled "Trey Zeigler" could contain anything from "Trey Zeigler blows up at camp" to "Trey Zeigler blows nursery." Notice, in contrast, TomVH's diary titled not "Terry Talbot", but "Terry Talbot- Visit" Also, I'm done with this thread.

Thumbs down issues aside, you make a good point about titles. I just think we need to be a little bit picky about the ones we chastise. If Trey was already a Michigan commit, you'd be right, but for now we can lump all Trey Zeigler questions/news together.

I'll give you an explanation too. You bitch about having to click on links without knowing the subject therefor, yet you post a series of useless comments. Really, you've wasted more time writing these comments than you presumably have wasted clicking on a link that directs you to content you are uninterested in. You're simply being disingenuous. People are going to give you negative points not because it shows contempt for what Brian asked for, but because it shows contempt for the content of your posts.

Actually, I never felt like I "wasted" my time clicking on this link, I'm interested in the topic. I just want the headlines of threads to be clear so in the future the board isn't filled with vague headlines. I defended this position. There's nothing disingenuous or IME unreasonable here.

I agree with you Jungle Chop. I thought we were done with these thread titles too, but they seem to be back, even when Brian tells people to avoid them. I am semi interested in Trey Zeigler, but I couldn't give a shit about what was posted in this thread. If it were "Trey Zeigler could be a 5 star, where we at?" I just wouldn't have clicked. If it were "Trey Zeigler close to commitment" I would see what the thread had to say.

There is a lot of info on this blog nowadays, and it's important to be able to weed out the threads that I'm not interested in.

Conventional wisdom at the moment has it as a Michigan/Central Michigan battle, but he plans on dragging it out. Plenty of time for a Michigan State or a UCLA to get into the top group.

I don't know about that, man. I hope you're right, but I haven't heard that thought echoed. Mainly I've heard Zeigler is still open and his recruitment will be going for awhile.

Take-home message: We have a shot at Zeigler. More amazingly, even if we don't land him, we are probably the favorite for the top 4 2011 state of Michigan recruits (though we won't have schollies for all of them).

So get excited -- bball is definitely on the rise.

#1 ... I am from the Mt. P area and I would be absoulutly shocked if he went to central even for daddy, he is too good and central has been horrible other than kaman's final yr for as long as i can remember

#2 .... A friend of mine whose currently at michigan as a student but played with zigler as a sr (when zigler was a sophomore) has told me trey has always loved his visits and themichigan atmosphere and seems generally excited about the chance to become a member of the leader and best

I am feeling goood enough to say id put the odds at about 60% towards him coming

It'd be down to Michigan and CMU. Don't be surprised to see him wanting to play for his dad. His dad have the advantage of going to AAU games to watch his son play. Michigan is very much in play and if they can make the NCAA tourney again the next year, it'd be interesting. He's a late decision so we're going to have to wait for a bit.
