I'm really excited about Trey Burke.  I too love his smooth stroke from deep.

It seems that I got sent back to Bolivia for some reason.

You have more than redeemed yourself. Unless.... What did you do now? I'll start trying to dig you out.

You story of coming back from Bolivia was like a "rudy" type story, except you weren't offsides. It would be sad if that comeback tale were squandered.

EDIT: It seems I lost a cool thousand points myself....

I have no idea what happened, it could be that my points expired.  I'm going to bother Brian about it since he seems busy trying to fix the site.

Edit:  I did not see Brian's META thread, I guess I did nothing wrong.

Love Trey's work ethic and motivation. Hope he keeps this up throughout the summer. Those work outs will definitely pay dividends when he gets on campus. You gotta love where he is setting his goals too. "Starting" and "17 and 10" when you have Darius Morris and THJ returning are lofty goals. Competion brings the best out in most athletes. He is gonna be a great addition, and I'm definitely excited we got our hands on him. Beilein, Bacari Alexander, and staff are doing a great job.

First off I wanna say that Trey's work ethic, ball handling skills and competitiveness will be a welcome addition to this team.  I think he is going to fit right in with the rest of the guys on the team.

However, I do wanto comment on his shooting in the videos, someone commented on how they loved all his threes.  I just want to point out as someone who played in an offense similiar to this in high school that those threes he made mean nothing.  He might be a great shooter but all of the passes he got before knocking those shots down were kick outs from the post and thats not part of our offense.

I would have liked to see him knock down some threes off of passes from the wing because thats how he will his shots next year

Still pumped that he will be in maize and blue though!!!

If you can shoot it does not matter where the pass comes from. He hits open shots and shots while being defended. We don't have a big that makes a lot of passes out of the post but when Morris drives the lane he kicks out from the lane/post area.

I just want to point out, as someone who watched our team all season, that we had three point shooters getting kick outs ALL THE TIME. Darius driving through the line and firing one out to the wing. Shots are shots doesn't matter where the pass is coming from.

While I don't agree that kick outs from the post aren't a part of Michigan's offense, I do see the point you're making. Any guard will tell you that they have a favorite shot (aside from a set shot). For example, I like coming off screens to the right to set up my shot, so I can use my left foot as my pivot foot. I'd also like to see him taking some passes from the wing, because it's a totally different receiving-to-shooting motion when you take passes from the left and right, as opposed to a kick out where you're already squared to the hoop. Regardless, the kid looks great.

You are wrong on two accounts. First, in general, shooting is shooting. He can shoot it a little. He will have to get used to perhaps doing it differently in terms of footwork, but if you can shoot the ball you usually find a way to continue to do that. Second, there will be plenty of kick out chances.

Carlton Brundidge.  He's a stud and has put up big numbers in AAU basketball including 40+ points in King James Classic.  Burke seems to get a lot of attention but Brundidge is just as good as Burke as a player.  JB is really excited about CB because of his ability to slash to the hoops and use his size to abuse weaker G which is why JB wants to use CB for on ball screen similar to Tu Holloway from Xavier.

Is his recruiting ranking of a 3 star reminding everyone of last year when the "experts" labeled him as a 3 star as well? i dont understand how either of this two guys could be anything less than a minimum 4 star.

As much as I love Darius morris and think he's a great PG, I think burke fits the whole mold of beileins system a little better. He is a threat from deep which is definitely what morris is lacking. People can play off him a little because they know he's know going to routinely hurt you from beyond the arc. Not with burke. I'll be glad to have both on our team though! And thats not even counting CB who im also very excited about. I'm very curious as to how the minutes from the guard position are going to be divided up next year.
