PLEASE be a one-off thing (happens to the best of us) and not a red flag about where your head is at, Trey. This team needs your leadership and can do really special things if everyone is pulling in the same direction...
Trey Burke Suspended for NMU Game
I'm not sure he reads this blog...
I was talking to the cosmos in general as a communication style rather than actually believing he would read it, Mr McSnarkypants.
I need to change my name...
actually do read this blog
So when Lewan was talking about people on the internet trashing Russell Bellomy...
If a large man on a two-seated bicycle and a mustache tattoo on his finger comes by asking for me, my real name is Heiko Anbender and I live in Botswana. Got it?
I think you meant Bolivia
quit beggin....it's beneath you.
Beilein said four starters are confirmed: Albrecht, GRIII, Morgan and THJ. Fifth spot is open.
Also, Horford will not play, but McGary is available.
When it was reported that Horford might be ready for the opener was Beilein referring to NMU game or IUPUI game?
If any of the freshman play in this game, could they hypothetically preserve their redshirts since it is an exhibition? coughcoughalbrechtlevertcoughcough. <----- !! subtle coughing technique which cleverly disguises a hidden message !!
That said, I don't know if I want Albrecht redshirting. We need someone to spell Burke at the point and Spike may be our best bet. Caris is likely the best shot at redshirting in the freshman class, but the rave reviews other players and Beilein are giving him makes me think he'll see playing time too.
The good news is we'll get a good look at both of them tomorrow and be able to decide for ourselves if we want them to play this year!
that he was TOO good in practice this week and embarrassed the 2nd team a little too much. At least that's what I'm choosing to believe.
At least it's just an exhibition. Look for LeVert to start.
Albrecht is starting. But LeVert will probably get some quality minutes.
"Beilein hopes to play Caris LeVert 10-20 minutes tomorrow."
Opening games? Wasnt he in the doghouse for the first game of last season?
IIRC, he violated a team rule, so he played off of the bench for the first game.
Great. Grand. Wonderful.
NO YELLING ON THE BUS
just Beilein's nice way of saying Albrecht is better without embarrassing Trey too much.
Probably not, you say? Ok.
Dang. Not a great way to start what looks like a very promising season, especially considering that you're a preseason All-American to just about everyone out there. On a side note however, this presents a heck of an opportunity for Spike Albrecht. Starting at point guard for the #5 Michigan Wolverines in your first ever college game. Obviously the circumstances aren't the best, but hopefully he can show the coaches and the fans that he is more than capable of running the point if Trey is not able to due to foul issues, etc.
I believe I seen a quote from JB saying Trey was being suspended for a former action. I think it could be for his twitter comments regarding the MSU football team and how they sucked a few weeks ago. That makes sense to me
What is it with this Twitter phenomenon? The television announcers are constantly telling me to use Twitter to hear about the game or to talk to them or something or the other, but I can't for the life of me understand why players continue to use this website that only seems to bring about negative consequences. Nor do I understand why people who write on this website constantly cite to Twitter, as it seems like this is the main source of non- and mis-information on the internet. Just call your friends on the phone or send them an e-mail, I don't understand this fascination with just blabbering away jibberish to a bunch of people you don't know. That's what crazed homeless folk do on street corners, not college athletes.
I see some mold forming on this here shtick.
kill people, people kill people via twitter, just sayin'
Clearly Herm will come out sooner or later as a hard-line EMU partisan.
Using my 4G smartphone, I checked Wikipedia and the number of stupid things that get college athletes into trouble has risen by 1100% since the advent of Twitter. That includes ex-girlfriends who hacked your account, secondary recruiting violations as a result of Tweeting recruits at your old high school, injury reports on teammates while they are still being transported to University Hospital by EMT's, second-hand accounts of local police investigations involving other teammates, general trashtalking about other schools and their student athletes, and my favorite Twitter controversy of all time -- the debate, on Twitter, over whether your school's head coach banned the use of Twitter by team members.
Edit. - Here's what I want to know; what good is Twitter, really, if we can't find somebody who lives on the same dorm hall as some of the Michigan freshmen, who can tell us the real reason that Burke got into trouble? And put the word out, on Twitter?
I still love you.
I wish you were real.
Just as we hoped RDT was for real, and some now hope KateGoBlue is for real. I'm not sure how WIAB fits into this cast of characters (he may have been the original "real" account), but I smell a term paper or journal publication. How does a blog react to standard online archetypes (gentlemanly southerner, old man, hot chick... all saying what we expect), as opposed to real "living" ones?
I hope you do well on that paper, "cynic who has it all figured out" guy.
For the record it was established that WIAB and RDT were one and the same person so that one's not up for debate on any level. KategoBlue, IMO, is probably the latest incarnation of the person formally known as WIAB/RDT given the similarities in their writing styles, their interests and "her" arrival date on the board. I'm sure the Mods know (or have the resources available to know) by simply confirming the IP address of the user. The fact that "Kate" is allegedly a hot chick who just happens to know a lot about Michigan football, recruiting and likes to post the same pictures in response to comments that WIAB/RDT did is just too much of a wacky coincidence for me to believe they arent one and the same.
Herm I believe is....well....Herm. And I believe he's probably a 72 year old guy who went to Michigan, loves football and is relatively new to the whole internet thing. His writing style is truly not like anyone else I've seen on the board and his opinions are entirely consistent with someone of his generation.
You are partially incorrect.
Which part o vague one?
Sorry to say, but Herm is made up. It's pretty obvious. He rarely posts "normal" insight posts and tries waaaaaaay to hard to point out just how old he is. "What's this new twitter? I don't like the Facebooks. I don't understand the Internet, I'm old. I hate the way young whippersnappers talk these days. Everyone feel sympathy for me and like me because I'm really old and not like anyone else on this site." Herm's schtick is pretty easy to figure out...he just tries way to hard to be a stereotypical old person
off of your lawn too, right?
He tweeted some career advice to MSU AD Mark Hollis. He should know better.
lol whatever, it was probably something minor. coach B is using this as a teaching point for not just trey, but for the entire team. if we can't beat nmu w/o trey, we have much bigger problems at hand.
keep calm and carry on
also, re: captains, your guys are probably eso akunne and THJ
I would guess Jordan Morgan instead. He seems like he's really figured out his role as a teammate (from videos), and he's got a great head on his shoulders.
I think Tim and Jordan are the most likely candidates. Jordan has been around as long as Eso and has proven himself on the court as a capable big man in the B1G. Plus, as I recall he's going for Biomed Engineering which seems to set a good example for balancing academics and sports (requisite 3.6 GPA for the program as I recall)
I know Coach B doesn't necessarily look to seniors as captains (Novak), but in this group I think it's possible that Person or Vogrich could join THJ and/or Morgan
More like kid can't stop getting high and fucking around.
Must be the Columbus, Ohio in him...
Not a big deal, like people have been saying, probably something minor. Lets just get the win and move on.
Just means we'll win by a few less points. This is Northern Michigan we're talking about. There are high school teams that could probably beat them. If this were TSIO or msu I'd be concerned.
With a bunch of D1 caliber players on one team
Not all HS teams, just some of the good ones? Thanks for helping clarify.
Keeping the tradition alive. I hope he does this a 3rd and 4th time too.
Time for Spike. I hope Icebox doesn't distract him.
on their way to the NBA. It always starts with little stuff.
Keep your head on straight young man.
Well lets just pray he is able to play in the Slippery Rock game!!! We'll need him!
Suspended for one exhibition game and is underage. Smells like an MIP.
works better than mine. Could be a million things.
I remember last year in the first game of they year the coach made him sit out the first 10 minutes or so because he missed a team meeting and it turned out to be a pretty successful year so I think he'll be alright
...the inevitable full-court Wildcat (NMU version) press? Welcome to the big-time, Spike.
I will also sell my soul to a Columbus, OH heathen if you Wally Pipp Trey Burke.
Buddy, look at the preseason polls... #5 in most polls which means high expectations for many Michigan fans including me. Its not time to screw up like Honey Badger did. Its time to live up to the hype and be a leader on the team, not some stuck up prick that will only bring down the team. Come on, Trey.
The kid probably missed a practice or class or something, chill. You act like he got a DUI.
and long saggy shorts.
This is not the basketball version of Fitz
Here we go again. I'm sick of bad news. At least it's one game. Get your head outta ya ass and let's put Michigan back on the basketball map.
What a bad call to start all freshman (I don't understand sarcasm) you realize he had a suspension to begin last year, ill take the same results
or can McGary operate the Wildcat?
NMU has a basketball team?
Yeah, but it only plays in the months of June-August; it's too cold the rest of the year.
And that's indoors.
