Trey Burke Playing vs. Pistons Tonight!

Submitted by MGoLesher on

It probably didn't cross anybody's mind either because we are in the midst of March Madness or just because the Pistons are...the Pistons, but Trey Burke and the Jazz are hosting the Pistons tonight at 9 PM on FSD for those interested in watching! I hope Trey drops another double-double on them like he did in January! After all, it is March....

It may be over now, but the Michigan-Kansas game from last year was on BTN earlier. I tuned in mere seconds before Trey's Trey and I will admit to getting a little sentimental. That was probably one of the greatest sports moments I have witnessed whether in person or on TV and I think that might be one of the few things in my life that will never, ever get old.

Drummond is crazy good. KCP showing some potential. We need a decent GM and Coach ASAP and we could have a decent team next year.

Boy, Dumars sure is an idiot for drafting KCP over Burke! There, someone needed to say it, but KCP has 6 points on two shots, and Burke has the same on 8 attempts. Burke has three boards and an assist and KCP has none of either, but both have one steal and KCP has no turnovers to Burke's 2. Just trying to be objective.

He was taking a shot at the Burke/KCP/Dumars circle jerk that appears in every single Pistons thread on MGo.

When Burke has a good game, it's "DAE think Joe Dumars is an idiot who should be jettisoned into space with KCP, who is the worst basketball player ever? Burke is the next CP3!"

When Burke is having a game like tonight, terrible on offense (3-12 from the field, 6 points, 2 assists, 2 turnovers, 4 rebounds), and terrible on defense (Pistons point guards have combined for 5-7 from the field, 9 points, 14 assists, and 2 turnovers) it's crickets.

It's impossible to have any sort of a constructive discussion wherein the Burke/KCP issue is concerned.

It's one of those things where most people are so far entrenched on one side of the issue that even if you take a moderate stance you are instantly painted as an un-believing heathen.

Most people (myself included), thought Burke would walk away with the rookie of the year award, with maybe the only possible challenger being Oladipo. Even Bill Simmons, who has been at the forefront of the "Burke is going to be a great NBA player" bandwagon, has called him a "disappointment" this year, and I agree.

I knew he would have some problems with scoring inside, but I didn't think he would be this bad. He went an entire month, playing over 30 minutes a game, and shot just 3 free throws. That means he's not attacking the rim because he's been struggling so much to score inside.

Just look at his shot chart, he has been terrible around the rim:  http://stats.nba.com/playerShotchart.html?PlayerID=203504

His defense has also been a lot worse than anyone projected.

That's not to say that he can't or wont develop into a good player, but right now he is not very good. He is really struggling out there, and his production in no way matches the outrage.

Honestly I'm ok with him not drafting Burke. But should have traded the pick to Utah. Got their two first round picks they gave up and drafted Hardaway and the Greek Freak.
