Trey Burke Named NABC First-Team All-American

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced its All-American teams today, and Trey Burke was yet again placed on the first team. This follows his first-team selections by Sporting News and USBWA and means that he's a virtual lock to be a consensus first-team All-American for 2012-13. The NCAA uses those three teams plus the one selected by the AP (not yet announced) in determining the year's official consensus All-Americans. (Given the formula used, it seems the only way Burke could be denied consensus status is if he were somehow left off all of the AP teams.)

Always wondered why Grant doesn't have a jersey up in the rafters. Nevertheless, Trey's earned his own little space in Michigan basketball lore, he's been too much fun to watch

Interesting.....Michigan had an all american named Richard Doyle. And they have a 2014 commit named Ricky Doyle.

I can't start my own thread, but this is basketball related. There's a women's basketball tournament in late november at Barclay's arena in brooklyn featuring Michigan and 3 other teams, Texas Tech, LSU, and Rutgers. Tickets go on sale tomorrow if anyone's interested.

That'll be a good early test for what will be a very young and inexperienced Michigan women's team.

Yet another well-deserved kudos for this year's list, and congratulations to Trey Burke. From his profile page at MGoBlue, for purposes of review, some of the recognition he has already received this year:

"Sports Illustrated National Player of the Year ... Sports Illustrated All-America first team ... Big Ten Player of the Year and unanimous All-Big Ten first team selection by the coaches and media ... Sporting News All-America first team ... One of four finalists for the Naismith Men's College Player of the Year, one of 15 finalists for the John R. Wooden National Player of the Year Award, one of five finalists for the Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year Award and one of 14 finalists for Oscar Robertson National Player of the Year Award ... Associated Press Preseason All-America Team ... Preseason All-Big Ten team ... Three-time Big Ten Player of the Week"

It would be hard to envision a scenario where he is left off of any of the AP teams, at least in my opinion.

Just think he could be a Captain on next year's team, if he returns ! Oh please please please .... OK fantasy deaming !!! No way Michigan wouldn't be consensus #1 if every underclassman returned.
