Almost identically to how I felt about the outcome of the championship game, if he stays (we win) I'm ecstatic, but if he goes (we lose) I am not one bit disappointed or upset at him and extremely thankful for his Michigan career.

When I saw the day, I was like "shoot".

Sunday: Get the announcement done and over with, and don't go to class the following week (and exams are right around the corner).

If he chose to annouce on Monday of next week, I'd be a lot more optimistic.

I support whatever he may choose. He's a true Michigan man, and I am eternally grateful to have been able to witness him playing Michigan Basketball.

#3 forever.

...I can't say that I was anticipating all this, well, anticipation. Figured he'd just say goodbye like all the other people we've heard about. Kinda cool. Either way thanks and Go Blue!

I fully expect him to go. I would be very happy for him and 100% support his decision based on all of his team and personal accomplishments in maize and blue.
I would however never say never after the Lewan decision.

We're getting our players to the NBA as draft lottery picks and we'll start next season with a few more kids on the roster near the top of draft boards.

Watch Walton play and realize Spike hasn't played too much and will probably get better too. It's crazy how successful Burke was, if you remember, Brundidge was way more hyped than Burke was.

Things are going good in Ann Arbor. I'm already looking forward to getting revenge on Indiana with a sweep and destroying the Pitino led Minnesota.

I challenge you to an avatar duel!

Does anyone else feel oddly good about the possibility that he returns? I just had this strange feeling that Lewan might come back, I have this strange feeling that Burke might, too. His family seems to have a really big influence on his decision and I'm wondering if they would rather he stay in school a little longer.

No.  He's gone, and there's a part of me hoping he does go to avoid taking a risk he gets Zeller'd next season and slips out of the lottery.

He has set a great example of what a player can accomplish with an extra year under Beilein's tutelage.  Hopefully, GRIII and McGary notice how Burke's draft position improved with that extra year and come back next year to try to get into the top 5-10 of the draft.

Had they lost in the sweet 16, he's gone.  Team would have played as expected.

Had they won, he's gone.  Can't have anything more spectactular than a victory after an incredible run.  Nothing left for him.

But now, there's an odd serenity around this team after the loss.  I think in some ways they affirmed what they always knew about each other, while at the same time really surprised themselves with what they both are each capable of and capable of together as a team.  This unit is special, and may just come back with a vengeance and chip on it's shoulder to essentially do what they now know and believe could have been done. I see him coming back for his teammates (though I won't BKFinest it).

Apparently I can't start new board topics since all my board activity must have happened before the points system was revamped.  Yes, this means I've only posted like twice in the past few years.

Anyway, there's an awesome long form article on Burke's rise over the past few years on SBNation of all places.  Hope you all enjoy: LINK

Like others, I have no expectation that he would stay so the upside (staying) is comparatively huge, but regardless of what happens, we've been extremely fortunate to have Trey Burke in Ann Arbor. He embodies what is going right with Michigan basketball nowadays and the caliber of on-court talent and leadership we are  able to get in the Beilein era. It has been an honor to watch him both on TV and several times at Crisler. If he does in fact make the decision to enter the draft, I don't think anyone here would shirk at continuing to support this Wolverine in the next phase of his career.

Typically, the cost is roughly 1 percent of the policy's value, or abut $10,000 for every $1 million worth of insurance.  In basketball, contract money for the best rookie players - those expected to be chosen in the lottery/first round would generally get between 2-10 million.

NBA rookie contracts are for two years and teams have an option on Year 3 and Year 4 of the contract.

So, a player's family could pay approximatly $20,000 to $100,000 in insurance, depending on their lottery draft projection.

Obviously, $10,000 to $40,000 policies that protect $1 million to $4 million are much more common, and these policies would cover the majority of draftable players in today's current market.

Some families will take out loans for this type of coverage.

I think public discourse and information regarding player insurance is underreported by the mainstream media. Actually, any reporter that fails to mention insurance policy options in their "going pro? yes/no article" is probably conducting journalism malpractice because they are blatently omitting huge financial instruments that many athletes have to consider.

How many one and done NBA players could have benefitted from having better information regarding their insurance options?  I'm not sure, but we do know that more player development was needed for many of those college stars that ended up playing ball in Turkey, Sicily and Rome.

I'm good with whatever happens. I think we've been expecting this whole season that he'd leave after the year was over anyway. So, if he leaves, best of luck to him, and we have Derrick Walton and the most eligible bachelor in Ann Arbor there to take over the reins.

If he stays, surely everyone else will stay (I'd think), and with the talent coming in next year with Walton, Donnal and Irvin, I think we could very well enter the season ranked #1, as well as be the favorites to win the Big Ten.
