Trey Burke for Frosh of the Year
The good people at CBS sportsline have moved Trey Burke onto their list of the top freshmen. He makes his debut at number 8. If you look at the listing, you'll see that many of the other players on this list are very high profile, the kind of guys that would have gone directly to the NBA in other years.

I don't recall seeing this posted, but Burke a couple of days ago was also named one of the 65 candidates for the 2012 Bob Cousy Collegiate Point Guard of the Year. An mgoblue.com press release indicates the list will be narrowed very soon:
This original list of candidates will be narrowed down to 20 by Jan. 1, then to 10 by Feb. 1, and the final five by March 1. The selection committee comprised of top college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers, will then review the final five candidates.

if this continues. We are going to be in deep trouble next year with a very good frontline and no point guard.

His size will hold him back from toping most NBA draft boards. If he had another 3 inches then we be in trouble. I am pretty sure he is going no where.

I agree. Don't think he is leaving. If there was ever a year to stay in school this will be the year (assuming they don't up the draft age and require people to stay another year after this). This is going to be an crazy deep draft class. All those kids that came back last year (leading Darius to leave because last year was weak) are going to turn pro this year. This class has top end talent and lots and lots of depth. Not the year to be a typical mid to late first rounder like he probably is.

We could potentially have THJ, Burke, and McGary all go in the 1st round of the same draft if they all leave after the national championship season (eh? eh?) which would look real good to recruits that year. And the cycle continues.

Think Kalin Lucas, size will keep him here for at least three.

Because a freshman PG is much more impressive.

Generally, yes. However, Zeller is a large part of Indiana being one of the biggest surprises of the season so far. Not only has he put up good numbers, but he's been efficient, shooting 66% from the field.

I agree he is turning into a special player. If you followed his training during the offseason, you can see that this is the fruits of his labor. Really impressive.

As good as he has been, he hasn't been the "best" Freshman in his own conference. Zeller has been better, but Burke is certainly more valuable. If he doesnt contribute we are forced to play Akunne for more minutes.
