It's crazy to me how players from Lehigh, Creighton, and Murray State are All Americans. The parity in college basketball is nuts. Those guys are all deserving, but I just found it very interesting. Also odd that the only major conference with All Americans is the Big Ten, and they have three. Should be an interesting season.

It's refreshing to see the mid-majors represented on these lists.  It's also refreshing to see the Big 10 get it's due for being THE presumed power hoops conference in 2012-13.   I also surmise from this list that Midwestern basketball athletes run faster and jump higher than hoops players developed in warmer climates.  Except for THJ.  This rule obviously does not apply to warm-blooded athletes who commit to colder climate schools.  Since this is the internet, I can make such wild assertations without oversight or punishment.

when you only have twelve scholarships per school and there are still fairly specialized positions. I agree though, it is pretty insane the presence that mid-majors have in basketball.

It seems like in every other mens sport, the mid-majors only have a shot with some type of advantage like how the state of Michigan has one team without a hockey national championship, or the baseball schools in the south drawing talent locally, or a freak situation where one of the best coaches in the game wants to stay in Boise, Idaho.

...that means nothing without another conference title. We gotta beat MSU and Ohio twice each and win the Big Ten to really tell the conference that Michigan basketball is back. I have a good feeling about this year's team.

So many debby downers on this thread. Can we not just enjoy the fact that this is our first preseason first team all-american since jalen rose...I mean obviously it would be best if he finishes the year as a 1st team all-american, but those events are hardly mutually exclusive. End rant.

I hope he has a great season and moves on, not because I don't want him, but because that will help us with a steady stream of talent that sees us as a legitimate avenue to the NBA.
