Tremendous Talks To David Dawson And About The 2012 Class

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

Today, Tremendous Michigan had two new posts.

The first was about David Dawson. Aquaman interviewd him and he talked about what an offer from  Michigan would mean to him and what it would be like to play for Michigan with his friends from Cass Tech. The article analyzes his strengths and weaknesses and shows why he has Tremendous upside:

The second article breaks down how Michigan will finish the 2012 class. They  go into detail about the four remaining targets (Kozan, Diamond, Grant and Reeves) and list some potential surprise commits and  why they could come to Michigan. Aquaman seems to feel that there is a chance for Stefon Diggs still and that  Michigan coaches may very well have visited him last week.

I have a feeling it's Robert Gregory. Would make a lot of sense. We could use another skill position guy in this class, will have an extra scholarship or two available, and really need to entice Diamond to come here and get at least five true O-Lineman signed up.

I would be honestly shocked if he doesn't go to Ohio State.  Meyer has been giving him the Percy Harvin pitch....

Frankly if Meyer can get Miller to at least hit some timing and spread routes - that kid is going to be lethal...

Frankly, if Meyer doesn't cobble together an at least second-rate offensive line to protect Braxton Miller, he is going to get broken in half come Big Ten season.  I'm pretty sure he got nicked up and missed time last year with Adams, Shugarts, and Brewster protecting him.  They're now gone, and they've got the likes of Mr. Plow's little brother potentially protecting him in their stead.  That's called a downgrade, folks.  But, yeah, no worries, I'm sure Urban Meyer will just telepahtically shift his Jesus-like aura to form a protective bubble around Braxton Miller, who needs an O-Line, right?

I'm frankly a little confused by Urban Meyer's recruiting so far.  They need O-linemen bad, almost as much as we do.  So far, they have 4 linemen commited and i believe the only one who projects to tackle is Taylor Decker.  And then their 2 top commits play the same position.  Spence, washington, and pittman are all DE's and i dont think they have as much positional flexibility as our d-linemen.   Their Offensive line is due for a big, big drop off.  They need Dodson bad.

Before this day, if anyone but TomVH said there was even the barest hint of getting Diggs, I would have laughed in his face. But I'm not laughing. I guess that just shows how quickly Aqua has become a "Hold me TomVH" level source in my mind. I still don't see it happening, but I'll take it as a glimmer of hope.

I always like a good signing day surprise. It's like a stocking stuffer on Christmas morning.

That's what caught my attention. I get why he says Diggs could be a possibility, but his reasons for him being a possibility just don't add up to him committing in the end. We could certainly make a big push, but I don't see it happening, and I'm a huge optimist when it comes to recruiting.

Here's my favorite part:

------------------------------------------

Tremendous: What do you think about Michigan? Are they back?

David: Michigan has always been a TREMENDOUS program and are really starting to re-solidify their spot in college football. Coach Hoke seems like a really cool guy. He's energetic and just knows how to coach the game.

-----------------------------------------

We like to think it is a TREMENDOUS program  as well, and if the film on the Tremendous site is a good sample of this kid's work,  I wouldn't mind him on the OL myself. Definitely, the fact that he is a Detroit native and has numerous ties to the current team in the way of classmates might help us  in this case.

Definitely a shot in the dark but it was odd to know that Fuller wasn't around when the coaches came in and that O'Daniel didn't mention it days before when we had a very pro-Michigan convo.

It's on the Rivals premium board, but based on the message subject lines, it's got to be Henry (i.e., there can only be so many 6'3", 273 3* defensive lineman with the name Henry from Glenville). None of the sites are reporting him as having an offer, as far as I can tell, but maybe one came in late.
