Well didn't he just say we were his favorite not even a week ago? This looks good.
to play football, not to play trumpet
Well didn't he just say we were his favorite not even a week ago? This looks good.
and yes it does.
This could be good. If I am not mistaken he is most likely with a bunch of our guys at the Opening. After the week with the Wing's so far this would be a great way to turn my spirits around. I just hope that if he does commit to us that he is 100% ready and not just trying to rush into a decision.
he's rooming with a ND commit.
My speculations have been off all week dammit. I guess it is probably a good thing despite rooming with a ND commit at least we have 7 or 8 different guys most likely in his ear as much as possible during the whole event.
got the numbers there. Most importantly Shane is going to be there. I guarantee Quon is going to be feeling the love from the Team 134 members in attendance!
Maybe the ND commit he's rooming with is stinky.
tehh shlamploo goesh underr shere
You don't have to worry about ND. Grades are an issue here.
Doesn't matter he wants Shane to throw him the ball. Its all about The Shane, The Shane, The Shane.
From what we know about his recruitment, it doesn't seem like there's another strong contender here. Of course, we've all been mistaken before but I'm just not seeing it.
I think he's probably tired of the entire process by now and just wants to get it over with. I think he's been holding out for holding out's sake to this point. I think he gets further indoctrination from the other members of T-134 and the commitment comes soon thereafter.
I agree. And I don't think the coaches would accept a commitment unless he's 100%. The things that bother me about this is that just a week ago he planned on visiting Oklahoma and Ok. St. as well as possibly visiting USC. Thats a huge change in such a short time. Guess we will find out "soon" according to the young man himself.
It seems like he's been wanting to visit the Oklahoma schools for a long time. If they were so important to him, you would think he would have made the trip by now.
He had a scheduled trip to Oklahoma canceled a couple of months ago because of severe weather. But you're right, that was a couple of months ago... seems that he's had plenty of opportunities to try to go again.
Plus, he wouldn't be the first commit to say that he's planning on taking several officials, and then go ahead and commit before official visit season even starts (see Cravens, among at least half a dozen others I can think of).
wounder if its crunch time. Hoke, or whoever he is being recruited by is telling him that he is still plan a but they aren't holding a spot for him, and if plan b wants to commit they will give the slot to him.
Being an optimist, I think it's a good sign that his Twitter background image shows him wearing a Michigan Wolverines lanyard. One can look too much into an image, right?
Would really love to see him come through. Fingers crossed!
but has the ship completely sailed on Ty Isaac?? Say we land Treadwell, we have LTT & Boesch. Can't we get the Core 6 IL group to flip Isaac? Probably not a chance, but our offense is going to be unreal with our OL recruits and Shane. I'm picturing the next Anthony Thomas/Tyrone W clone...........
Isaac sounds pretty set on USC.
I think our best shot would be Kiffen commiting another NCAA violation. Having the entire cast of Oceans 11 show up at a recruit's hotel room must be some kind of violation.
Don't forget right before he said his decision was coming soon he saidthis was the worst morning of his life.
You're not a good fit.
He's Mike Martin!
...what's making him reluctant to commit is that it's a huge decision and it's still the middle of the summer, he still has some schools he wants to see. I understand wanting to protect yourself from disappointment by using pessimism, but I don't think logic really supports it in this case. However, we are talking about a teenager...
There's no "I guess," we'll definitely see. It's one thing for you to say "I'm pessimistic about this one guys" and another to say that's he's not a good fit. Because, like you know.
What have you observed that makes it not a good fit?
He detailed it in his first post, speculating that other commits that have seemed to be in the bag but have dragged out their recruiting have had a high probability of going elsewhere.
I, for one, don't get that feeling with LaQuon. I do think you guys need to stop negging this guy for having a dissenting opinion. He's engaging in a conversation. We are not the opinion police, well maybe we are, but we shouldn't be...
It's not a good fit because the kid didn't commit immediately? I'm not really sure why you're so convinced this isn't going Michigan's way. Have we been so spoiled with this class that kids we're recruiting aren't allowed to go through the recruiting process now?
It's 100 times better than your first comment. Had his tweet affirmed his desire to take his official visits or wait until NSD I would be inclined to agree with you. However, you've just described all the reasons he would change his plans and commit sooner than he would ideally prefer. So, if his tweet means what it seems to, you're making a good argument that he's coming here.
True, but he also seems to want to visit schools and make the right decision for himself. It is nice for the fans to have these kids commit early but it is probably better for the kids to be able to visit the schools not on te kids dime and utilize what he learns to make the best educated decision for himself. Oklahoma and Oklahoma st put out good WRs in passing oriented offenses, so it makes sense that he would want to visit them, especially since it isnt cheap to travel their with his family. Maybe he Just wants to see the other schools before eliminating them and doesnt want his parents to pay for the visits when he can get free ones. Sidenote: I have forgotten his other top 2 schools.
Also, how do you know some of the things that make Michigan so attractive such as immediate playing time are not also available at other schools? Do the rest of his top 5 have talented QB recruits or freshman on their teams? Not every recruit jumps the gun when they know the school they like. See Poggi. Tremendous did an interview with him where he stated he played his recruiting close to the vest in order to promote his teammates and make sure lots of recruiters could see the younger guys on his team. See also Jordan diamond. I understand your concerns but until he says something more concrete about liking other schools, I think we are in the drivers seat. Also, we started offering other WRs because our other targets started indicating they were going elsewhere or their interest in us never improved (see massington, north, Larue, quick, foster, etc).
Kids "dragging out" the recruiting process, not naming leaders, and being deliberately cryptic about their intentions isnt always a selfish thing. Henri Poggi (and many others) did it to keep big programs visiting his school to get exposure for his teammates.
Yes, except the school visiting evaluation period is over.
Must have been a glitch on the Android app
He recently tweeted that Sugar Shane has to text him back... If you can't tell, work is slowwwww today
Maybe he heard Shane is into the announcing business. Probably wants to commit at the opening with Shane announcing the whole thing.
What do believe he meant by that, and how do you see it tying in with him later saying commit coming soon?
That would be a telling tell-tale sign.
Wonder who's going to be the quarterback of them team im on? Shane !
That might be about his team at The Opening....
Or it might not
I give up
Either way...has to be good news
Premium content has been issued from Oregon...all of it looks good from their perspective, but I don't think it's based on anything more than circumstantial evidence...there aren't any additional direct quotes.
Are we sure he isn't just deciding between regular and honey nut cherios?
not really sure the exact rules about premium content... but lets just say that those with WolverineNation access over at ESPN can read some TomVH thoughts on this... he's had a chance to speak with Laquon about his tweets...i think its ok to comment that the tweets are definitely not about a honey nut vs regular cheerios decision.
Because you really can't lose with Honey Nut or regular Cheerios. I'm an avid Cheerio-er, and I usually buy both types (none of those new-fangled flavors, though) and alternate every other box. They're both so good, and by the time I've finished one box, I'm excited for the other. I get more value out of the regular version though, since they're more often available in the big family size boxes. And recently they've come with a children's book inside, so that's a plus.
A bowl of Heart Healthy Cheerios is always a great way to start the day
Is it too early to buckle up? I think it might be, but safety first is key right? I'll let all of you decide.
"it's a place i want to be and a place i need to be, what to do".........
The one that really caught my eye:
Shane Morris need to text me back!
he does commit.
He's been infatuated with M for a year now. No one has really touched M in his mind in that time. I can't blame the kid for wanting to go out and see other campuses. But, I think the kid is blue inside and out.
Latest tweet from Laquon:
"Its a place i want to be and its a place i need to be. What to do?"
Sounds promising, but he's still a high school kid and could be referring to Cedar Point.
Good news for Michigan in the Laquon Treadwell sweepstakes?
Followed by a link to rivals.com. I don't have a subscription so...
Steve Wiltfong of 247 has this thread going on LaQuon, and just tweeted that he's talking to him now. If any updates do come soon, this would be a good place to look.
Steve Wiltfong said, "Just to throw it out there, but I wouldn't be surprised if Laquon Treadwell announces this weekend at The Opening. Not saying it will or it's set in stone. Just something to keep an eye on as we discuss the latest developments."
One can hope right? Go Blue!
Personally I think this kid is milking the recruiting process for all it's worth. I do think he loves UM and has it as the school to beat right now, but he's letting these other schools stroke his ego right now. Cant say I blame him. If I was a top recruit I may do that too.
But if I really did love UM, I'd commit to save my spot before someone, aka Alvin Bailey, takes it for me.
Milking the recruiting process? You do relize it's only July? The kid hasn't even started his Senior year of High School.
...and it's not like we're forced to read his tweets.
Take your time Laquon...just pick Michigan in the end.
that I agree with your comment.
Alvin Bailey, who has stated that distance from home will be a factor and who's being recruited by a bunch of other schools, too?
Yeah, I guess you've got a point. It was a good thing Chris Fox committed before Laremy Tunsil took his spot, too...
The big question I have, is why can't we seem to pull in big time guys at a skill position of such need like wide reciever. Don't get me wrong, I like the recievers we have recieved commits from, but I would think, with Shane and the coaches, big time 4 or 5 star guys would be salivating to come here. Also, how in the world can ND always have great recruiting classes when they completely suck year in and year out. Why would any top notch athlete want to go there?
All top recruits are Catholics and have excellent grades. It makes sense.
Notre Dame has a stud THROWING quarterback recruit every year. Michigan has had Nick Sheridan, Steve Threet, Tate Forcier, and Denard Robinson for the past four years. These kids haven't seen Michigan have a legitimate passer and receiver since they were in about 7th grade.
Shane Morris is a step in the right direction, but Hemingway's 34 receptions and Gallon's 31 aren't very convincing for guys who can go to Oklahoma or Oklahoma State or USC...
There should be a disclaimer on your post: *Projected stud QB
Logic says you're right. And Treadwell would be proof positive. But it can't be emphasized enough: teenage kids don't tend to take the long view. Right now, when many WR prospects think of Michigan, they first think of Denard-ball. But once kids start seeing M throw the ball more -- either via Gardner or Shane -- then the program will go back to being WRU.
Best line heard on Saturdays in the future (hopefully). " Morris to Treadwell down the sideline touchdown Michigan!"
I encourage anyone to go to rivals site, go to Treadwells profile, and look at his pics from mid/late 2011, and look at the recent one posted i beleive today.
Treadwell got ridiculously RIPPED/HUGE in 9 months. Incredible. Don't know if anyone noticed this.
Wiltfong just posted a VIP thread with a comment from Treadwell about all this. I'm not a member so I can't read it, but anyone who is, here's the link.
but that link description really has me itching to know.
He basically says that he's very close to a decision, but not sure if he will be announcing at The Opening.
Mods: If that gives away too much, feel free to delete and spank me.
I think the post should stay but please leave the S&M out of future posts.
Sarah Hughes just tweeted
'@SarahMHughes87: I asked @SuccessfulQuon if he was planning on announcing his decision soon, and he replied, "I'm not sure." #waitinggame'
'@SarahMHughes87: Now @SuccessfulQuon tells me his decision is indeed coming soon. #team134'
I'm not well-versed in the twitter syntax. Did the hastag #134 come from LT or Sarah?
That would be from Sarah.
The #team134 hashtag coming from either LT or Sarah can only mean good news. I'm getting no work done now. Commence F5 barrage.
Hearing from ESPN Treadwell will not be out there until 7 so you might want to give F5 a little break...then again, maybe not?
Commence Freak Out! JK, but seriously...good news.
Ah yes, here it is.
@SuccessfulQuon: So much going on my decision coming soon.
Crack job though, Sarah.
I'll take an actual on-topic quote over a cryptic tweet any day. And considering that this entire thread was devoted to interpreting that tweet which Sarah just de-mystified with a brief conversation (that she provided for free, unlike the recruiting sites), I'd say nice work Sarah.
Alright. It was mostly a joke. But I think you are overselling (in a Magnusian way) her tweet to state that she de-mystified LT's tweet.
I hope Treadwell joins Michigan's '13 recruiting class, and Sarah Hughes breaks the news. Sorry Sarah, keep up the good work.
lol'd at my desk at work after reading this, causing co-workers to look in my general direction. Thanks.
Edit: lol @ the Flamebait too, as I actually thought it was pretty funny. no /s.
And make the fonts 25% next time when you open mgoblog.com.
Could all of this just be Laquon seeking some attention during the Opening?
that would be IMPOSSIBLE!!
Wonder who's going to be the quarterback of them team im on? Shane !
Well, there's a 7-on-7 tournament at the Opening...so that's probably all it means.
And he's gonna be so happy with Shane getting him the ball that he'll want that to continue for the next four years.
Mike Farrell tweeted that Treadwell could be making his decision this weekend and got a retweet from Treadwell. Buckle up??!
When Brian posted that Manningham video I had a very hard time not thinking about Morris to Treadwell. Here's hoping we can get another one of those special QB-WR combos.
Has retweeted a couple tweets about how he might commit to Michigan this weekend. Commence freak out.
He hasn't said he would commit to Michigan specifically in his tweets. But everyone else, regardless of allegiance is saying Michigan is sitting in the drivers seat.
The meltdown here will be entertaining if he is just having fun with this.
Well at this point this thread has over 12,000 views and around 100 comments over some tweets, so yes there will be some sort of meltdown if he is jerking us around. On the flipside can you imagine the excitement if he commits? His hello post will have massive numbers and most likely the site will be on overload. Lol
With the temperature reaching 100F tomorrow, I will already have had a meltdown, so anything Laquon does will be fine.
On the other hand, his commiting to Michigan would be pretty cool.
What safety measures could he be talking about?
In other news, I'm going on a road trip this weekend. Are there any safety measures I should follow while on this road trip?
Make sure your tires are inflated to the proper psi.
Don't wash down a couple bran muffins with a pot of coffee before you go. It's just not a good idea...
Avoid drivers that are women or Asian.
Her presence may be needed this weekend.
She's in the trunk of my car, ready to go when needed.
I'll be up north this weekend if he commits. We have WiFi but who sits around on the internet when they are up north?
Speaking of that, I was up north on February 18th this year. Needless to say I skipped an ice fishing session because Commitapalooza started that morning...Couldn't stop hitting refresh on my iPad.
he commits before I go up north next week to...you guessed it...Higgins
He is absolutely messing with everyone right now; not just Michigan fans but I think the media mostly. Hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.
You are wrong
I am going to kinda have agree with this guy; I think he is the Will Campbell of this generation. I think he loves putting on the show, but the difference is from Will is he was committed and had a spot. If Treadwell keeps playing around he might miss his chance to be a wolverine. He is not the only high profile player that Michigan is chasing. Unless him and the coaches have a soft commitment going on under the table, but I doubt that.
He's the Will Campbell of "this generation"? Campbell graduated high school three years ago.
Also, Will Campbell decommitted from Michigan for a time.
Also also, Campbell did it later in the recruiting cycle and re-announced at the USAAG.
It's the beginning of July, people! Lay off the kid.
There is no silent commitment. He is commiting this weekend. That is a fact
Why would he do that?
so what if he is? He's a teenager, he's being chased after by some of the biggest football teams on tv, and their legions of rabid fans, and he's not doing anything wrong. I think we deserve to be messed with a little bit, honestly. I'm way too excited about this for my own good, lol.
More power to him if he is. I would love to mess with all these people (us) at that age, harmlessly (unless it's Ohio fans). It's great. I just think he actually is messing with us despite trying to read between the lines, a little too intently if you ask me. The only way I'm wrong is if Alvin Bailey is thinking of dropping to us (unlikely given his thoughts on distance from home begin a huge factor). That said, you never know in recruiting, but I have no problem with him messing with us all.
Something tells me you are (im)patiently waiting...
Well The Opening goes on the entire weekend so you could be waiting a while. "A decision coming soon" is extremely vague.
Looks like LaQuon to me.
