Traylor, Taylor, and Bullock

The Fab 5 documentary is stuck fresh in my mind as im sure it is with everybody else as well. I was born in december of their freshman year so I hadn't really had an idea of what the basketball team was all about until probably Amakers first year. They briefly stated that Webber along with Tractor, Maurice Taylor, and Louis Bullock all got in trouble for the scandal. My questions are

  1. Were they all involved with Ed Martin?
  2. Was Webber the only one that lied to a grand jury?
  3. Is the Michigan ban (that expires in 2013) on those individuals as well?
  4. Why hadn't Jalen Rose gotten in trouble for it?

Appreciate any help. The show made me very curious and you guys might know a better deal about it than I.

, "Look at how many millions these kids brought the U of M."  That is true.

On the other hand, few, if any, look at what UM did for those kids.  Without Michigan, none of these guys are famous.  Webber would have gone to Duke, Jalen would've gone to Syracuse, Juwan, Ray, and Jimmy also all to different schools.  Only Ray and Jimmy possibly play on the same college team.

Webber still would've had a very good NBA career, Jalen a very solid one, and Juwan a journeyman.  None of these guys would have had the lasting memory that the Fab Five will have, and that was only possible because of the existence of the University of Michigan.

I attended UM from 91 to 95, so my undergrad was Desmond's Heisman, T-Wheatley, etc... nevertheless, speaking on behalf of the student body during that time period, I can confidently say that the Fab 5 was the biggest thing in A2.

This string of notes brings up many interesting thoughts on the Fab 5, many ways to look at the them.  I won't comment on these perspective, other than saying I love all the national attention Jalen's documentary has resurrected.

One other thing -- although Jalen did not graduate from UM, I still consider him a Michigan Man.  Jimmy & Ray stayed 4 years and graduated in 4 years.  Juwan, who went pro as a junior, took correspondance courses his rookie year in the NBA and graduated in 4 years -- I heard he did this because he promised his grandmother he would.  I remember all 4 vividly at Commencement in Michigan Stadium.
