Transitive Victors

In light of yesterday's game, credit must be given when credit is due.

Hence we must acknowledge that Michigan's true, transitive ranking, adjusted for endpoint strength of schedule, leaves no room to doubt we were the #3 team of 2014.

Yes.

I can't wait to see what Harbaugh can do with that kind of a foundation.

Only four teams played against the championship squad (the Jones-led Bucks): Wisconsin (ranked #11 at the time), Oregon (#2), Alabama (#1), and Michigan (#Harbaugh).

The scores were:

WIS 0-59
ORE 20-42
MICH 28-42
ALA 35-42

As ALA and ORE were ranked #1 and #2, and as our performance against the eventual #1 fell between the respective performances of those two teams, we are clearly #3. Go us.

Also, the OOHI cheerleaders misspelled Ohio at the game.

There. I feel better now. Please do not dispute my pillowy cocoon of delicate logic.

It's hard to look back and appreciate just how terrible Stanford was before Harbaugh, too. That 1-11 was epic. Their opponents averaged over 30 points, and Stanford failed to score 10 points I think 5 times, with 2 shutouts. Then to be able to successfully recruit and develop talent there was the biggest uphill battle. Only place more difficult to recruit that I could imagine would be the service academies. He'll do more at Michigan.

I have to be next in line for Kate Upton if she ever decides to date only MGoBloggers once she dumps JV. Who else here can honestly claim to have exchanged glances and smiles with her?

#3?  Ha!

Let's not forget that we beat Penn State, and that Penn State beat Boston College, and that Boston College beat Virginia Tech, and that Virginia Tech beat Ohio State, your alledged "National Champion".  How can they be National Champion when they didn't sweep the UM/PSU/BC/VT/OSU Pentagon of Hate, I ask you?  Clearly the system is deeply flawed.
