Give it up with the eternal wishing that Fitz Toussaint is gonna be some mysterious weapon that gets unleashed and saves the day the next 2 games. Yeah he is a fighter, yeah he has has terrible luck, and yeah, I hope he can be 100% and get some PT. But there are many people that still need to get the delusions out of their head. He is an average back at best, injured or not. Our future at RB is not Fitz Toussaint or Mike Cox. It's Smith and Hopkins. Get used to it.
The Toussaint wishing well
super secret double ninja private insider access to every practice.
The present is V Smith and Hopkins and maybe a sprinkle of Toussaint. If Shaw was healthy (knee and now head) he would be starter.
It's an opinion. A "Prediction based on flimsy evidence" if you will. And I was taught in high school writing class to state an opinion without saying "I think" or "I believe" to preface it.
A "Prediction based on flimsy evidence"
Is that evidence his track star speed, or his first carry as a wolverine going for 65 yards?
I mean, really, have you ever heard of a running back named Fitzgerald? If he were any good, he'd be named Mike, or Vince, or like... Bo or something.
Tshimanga is a good one too.
But he shortened that name to simply Tim. Or maybe it would be Tshim...
For the record, he didn't like being called "Tim".
The Edmond Fitzgerald ran pretty well until November. So maybe there's hope for Fitz next year, at least for the first couple of months,
if not, he'll be remembered in song...
Larry Fitzgerald is legit though
the track star speed that got him hawked down by a MAC linebacker.
He was also wearing a big ass knee brace but don't let facts like that get in your way. Preach on. More people need to know what you are thinking.
the knee brace go flying off in pieces as he ran down the field. Run, Fitz, Run!
best movie reference i've heard in a while, thank you sir.
Best tag line I've seen in a while +1 to you sir.
Not to mention that in one of the countdown to kickoff videos he outran Woolfolk to the end-zone despite TWolf having a slight angle on him. And the coaches hinting that he was going to be the starter before he got hurt in fall camp.
No, not fast at all. Not good at all. Merely average.
You are kinda being soft edge.
So not HARD EDGE.
So now, you're actually, actively arguing against not just common sense, but actual measurable numbers? I mean, do you really want to go down that road? You can argue whether the bird evolved from the dinosaur, but do you want to argue that the bird weighs less?
It was a MAC safety who was pretty good at track in high school.
I thought the point of an argument was to be right about something. Anything.
Like that safety, I'm sure that there are fast players in the MAC, it's just a matter of how good of a football player they are. That is why Toussaint is in the Big Ten and that safety is not.
he was caught from behind. that was very surprising to me.
And Roy Roundtree was caught from behind last year while fully healthy. Nevertheless, he seems to have become sorta good.
You are right. Barry Sanders used to get caught from behind, too. That is why he sucked. (sarcasm)
Taught me to never begin a sentence with the word 'but'. Actually, that was elementary school. Nevermind.
"I believe" you are a douche.
I went to the same high school as the OP
I was also taught in high school writing class to state an opinion without saying "I think" or "I believe" to preface it.
He is a douche.
Here's my flimsy evidence from the yearbook.
this implies that you
(a) were in high school
(b) learned something
both of which seem to be in doubt.
Edit: Since I was negged by somebody, this is relevant because the OP posits a baseless opinion and refuses to listen to facts. Just like Shaggy 2 Dope.
That is just so wrong on so many levels. Without letting the reader know its your opinion, then it is interpretted as you stating a fact. Which it is not.
I learned in law school that if you are going to go in court and state an opinion, you sure as hell better let the court know that its your opinion and not word it so it sounds like a fact! I'm not sure what high school you went to (Lincoln Technical Trucking School?) but your teachers sucked a--.
I was taught many things in high school. Then, I went to the University of Michigan and had this realization that maybe some things I learned in high school should be ignored. I would be hesitant to post here on premises from high school. [I think] That might result in heavy negging, but that's just my opinion.
Did the freep staff also attend your high school?
do I throw my penny?
When I was a kid, I usually threw my pennies in at Briarwood Mall. Thats where I'm headed tomorrow after reading this thread
A Cinnabon while you're there.
I negged you.
I have no idea why I find this comment to be outstandingly hilarious, but I do. Probably the use of "sweet" in this context. I just laughed the hardest I've laughed all day. Which. . . might mean I need to start laughing more. Or get a nitrous tank.
I'm not too sure if this Fitz talk is hard edge enough.
Michigan is hard edge this week. That means Fitz is hard edge as well.
Neal Anderson isn't where our Tecmo Bowl futures rest. Quit hoping that Neal Anderson is going to be the savior. The future of our past lies with Bo Jackson:
I OMG'd out loud. I forgot how ridiculous that game was. By ridiculous I mean AWESOME. Gives a whole new meaning to "running the ball to bleed the clock."
There is no beating a person named "Bo".
It's better with the music...
I guess he owes you an apology for signing his LOI to play football at the University of Michigan too, right?
I believe Fitz is a redshirt freshmen. A little too early to label him an average back or a bust in my opinion.
Thanks for clearing the RB situation up for us coach. Dee Hart and Shaw would also like you to go fuck yourself as well.
Maybe too soon to write off a 19 year old kid don't you think?
I agree people should stop banging on about Toussaint. Rodriguez said Smith is our best back in pretty much every facet. With that said, he's supposedly quite promising. Let's hope he can stay healthy and improve. Maybe next year we'll see a lot of him. It's a crowded backfield, though.
He is our best option, but I think most are just trying to point out the fact that Fitz is still very young in his career. He can't be labeled a bust yet, we've barely seen him play.
I agree totally. The OP is wrong for writing him off and the aggressive tone is a little strange.
nobody threw out the Big Lebowski line. I guess because it's not really an opinion, it's more of a dumbass thing.
That said, Toussaint looks to me to fill a niche that isn't currently occupied -- he's heavier than either Shaw or Smith -- he gives Rodriguez a different set of options, especially for blocking.
IIRC that FormerWolve stated that Fitz was the number 1 back coming out of camp before he got hurt so no offense but I'm going to trust FormerWolve and the coaching staff that Fitz could be the real deal.
Yeah there have been a lot of positive rumblings. With competition for PT being as fierce in the backfield as it is, though, and with Fitz being as young as he is, you can't help but think his injury has set him back some. Again, maybe next year, but then we'll have senior Shaw, senior Smith and Dee Hart, not to mention Hopkins. I could see Fitz breaking out as a monster rs junior year.
Smith will be a junior next year.
Doesn't he have 2 carries for about 60 yards and a touchdown? Granted it was garbage time. But besides him being injured, there is absolutely no evidence to suggest he is "an average back". We all really have no idea.
Why am I even posting on this? I feel dumber just thinking about this OP.
Yes, but if you watch those two carries he wasn't even touched on either carry.
We really haven't had the opportunity to see him play, which is unfortunate considering the positive things we've heard about him. Maybe there will be time to see him play during the next couple of games or at least the bowl game.
Anyway you're also right about the OP. Clearly he's got super-secret double extra special with cheese passes to all the practices *and* coaches' meetings. We musn't doubt the man.
You do realize he was wearing a leg brace and was coming off an injury, don't you?
Making an assertion that Fitz is "an average back at best" makes as much sense as saying "Antonio Bass never amounted to anything." Even if you don't preface it with "I believe..."
Give it up with the eternal wishing that Mgoblueballer is gonna be some mysterious weapon that gets unleashed and saves the board the next 2 games. Yeah he is a bit of a douche, yeah he has has terrible timing, and yeah, I hope he can be 100% and get some forum skills. But there are many people that still need to get the delusions out of their head. He is an average poster at best, drunk or not. Our future at MGoBlog is not Mgoblueballer or Big Redacted. It's Boutros and Shredder. Get used to it.
I would not give up on jhackney; dude may not be 1K+ points but I laugh at every single one of his posts. Every single one. Also, Clarkie from Canada, dude brings it on every post. I actively seek out his posts to give him a posbang. He hasn't even posted in this thread but I still gave him a +1. The future is now, the posters are in place. These next 2 games, and the threads they spawn will be classic. Damn classic.
unsolicited shot at Big Redacted
Did he hit on your GF or soemthing? Jesus, dude. He hasn't even played meaningful minutes and you are ready to fluch the kids entire UofM career? I think I speak for the sane amongst us when I say go F yourself in the A, dick hole guy.
In the history of college football, there has never been a player who floundered with injuries or ineffectiveness before finding their stride late in their career and becoming a force for their team.
Nope. Has never happened.
I wanted this thread to be a thread about expressing your wishes w/r/t michigan football. Like, I wish Antonio Bass never had a career ending injury.
He sells us steel now. Looks good. I wonder if he can still run?
Yes, indeed. Fair enough. Glad he didn't sulk or give up.
if Antonio is still selling steel. My wife worked with him at Alro...she is in sales too.
She said one day recently she came to work and was told he left the company. No one seemed to know where he went or if he was still with them in another capacity.
She said he seemed like a very pleasant young man while he was there.
I wish Bielema would go to bed.
I was hoping Avery turned into Woodson, Ezeh into Irons, Mouton into Gold (no pun intended), and Banks into Graham.
Good luck with the other stuff though.
I bet you feel like a real douche for posting this now....
RR said today in his press conference smith is our best back right now, but fitz could provide a spark for us when he is 100%.
RR should have read the OP. Boy, is his face going to be red when he finds out the truth!
RR said today in his press conference smith is our best back right now, but fitz could provide a spark for us when he is 100%. too early to judge a man on 2 carries and being injured all year
and the guy above you.
Delete this garbage.
Leave it up for the negbombs!
This seems oddly . . . vindictive.
This is a post from the OP a couple weeks ago:
mgoblueballer: This is the first film I have seen on Conway. It seems to me like he runs lazy routs (0:50), gives up too early on plays (0:55), does not have great hands (1:18), blocks like a pansy (1:22), is afraid to take a hit over the middle (1:30) and lacks elite speed (2:12).
Im pretty sure Conway was also hurt. The OP seems to hate players who get injured and try to have an education. Which does not really matter because no one here likes him.
Your probably better off not posting things for awhile, you're just going to get negged.
I negged myself for reading what he said.
+1 for snarky remark... now you're even.
I negged you for negging yourself.
You really should see a doctor about those blue balls. Seems that it is affecting your psyche. Good luck with that!
Interesting choice going to a doctor for blue balls...probably would not have been my first choice
Which is better: Hooking up such that one gets blue balls or not hooking up at all (so as to avoid the blue balls)?
I'll gladly take an ice pack in the groin as fallout for that.
the former if only by chance down the road the balls do not continue to go blue.
Draw a line in the sand.
GO BLUE!!! and not in that way...
My IQ just dropped 5 pts just from reading OP's message. Easily one of the most ignorant, ill-informed things I've read in a long time on the blog.
OTOH, my suspicious mind wonders if it's really a brilliant evil scheme designed to elicit an absolute explosion of posbangs in the ensuing carnage. Hmmm.....
OP no good.
OMG Fitz is not panning out early in his career
OMG the stock market is down and will never come back up
OMG we had a warm winter last year and winters will never be cold again
with speed. ~ Fred Jackson
Thanks, I'll take his opinion over yours.
We got sixty-some-odd posts without someone posting this?
Come on, people.
Edit: Oh, dammit. Link fail. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqy0IODpW5Q
Dude has some serious dreads. Maybe he can play cornerback?
He was drafted in the 4th round. However, he missed all of preseason, because of an injury suffered in a college all-star game. He saw his first action in the season opener. He had 8 carries for 0 yards. He finished the season averaging only 3.5 yards a carry.
Based on flimsey evidence, of mgoblueballer's ability to evaluate talent... he would have cut this back early in the season.
This back with such an inauspicious start... he went on to have a decent career. You may have heard of him, his name was Walter Payton.
I posbanged every comment except those of the OP. That means that everyone who negged the OP once broke even. If another four people did this, it would make everyone who negged him five times break even. Just sayin....
The level of understanding of the dynamic of MGoBlog that it takes to come up with that formula is impressive. You, sir, are appreciated.
I hate babies, they're so lazy, all they do is sleep, eat, and shit. We need to stop putting our faith in babies as the future of the world, they will let us down every time we need them.
I think everyone on this Board understands that Fitz is now a project for next year where hopefully we will get to see his potential...that said, I still believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and Fitz putting up crazy yards against Wisky and tOSU
Maybe Fitz will have something to say about this on the field on Saturday.
I'd like to add to the list of overrated things:
- Christian Pace: He hasn't even seen the field yet. Huge disappointment.
- Troy Woolfolk: He has shown NOTHING this year
- Tacopants: His numbers are WAY down
- My 2-year-old niece: her 40 time is shit, and she can't pick up a blitz to save her soul.
- My dog: He falls for the tennis ball play-action and the pump-fake EVERY TIME. No zone discipline at all.
- America's nuclear arsenal: We keep hearing how powerful it is, but it just sits there, year after year, riding the bench.
- Giant asteroids: Competely overhyped; Earth remains undestroyed.
The comment about your niece's 40 time made me laugh out loud. Good stuff.
Dear Fitz, we hope you are well enough to get in and sustain some hits
Dear Smith, Please make your past injury appear to be some sort of myth
Dear Hopkins; see that twinkie in the end zone? Its all you! Go get it.........sorry not much rhymes with hopkins
Dear Cox; Stay away from the tight end and run hard enough to ut holes in your socks
Dear Shaw, Keep doing what your doing and keep both hands on the ball
Win or lose we will be proud. Win or lose we will be loud!!
This seems to fit the bill.
But the original has even more of that "I'mma kill you, muthafucka" feel:

EDIT: Apologize for the length of this post, but it's just plain awesome.
Take that, hype machine.
I think he is going to be a good one if he can stay healthy. Obviously that is the big if at this point but he has a lot of time left.
He's only a RS Freshman, lots of time left. I'm pumped about this kid's future, he's quite a monster.
Ya got balls kid, I'll give you that.
I repeat go fuck yourself
I note that there is no "in my opinion" or "I think" in your message. Does that mean you believe that the OP should go f- him/herself (your opinion) or that is actually something they need to physically do (a fact)? After the lesson in writing that we got from the OP I'm more confused than ever . . .
The OP needs to physically go fuck themselves...no "I think" or "in my opinion"...I can prove here today objectively and categorically in this courtroom that the OP has a physical need to go fuck themselves...But that's JMHO
sure makes me miss that Joe Montana video game that Sega had...the one where you could spin move the entire way down the field and never get tackled.... anyone??
As for Fitz, he has started out with Carlos Brown syndrome... hurt often, but when out there, as fast as anyone on the field... I think its too soon to be bagging on the kid though...
you had positive MGoPoints? Yeah, me too.
I bet you felt like this:
The Op should really tell Fitz. Save him the trouble and effort of all that running and practicing and stuff.
