Wow, they found a worse look than their updated home jerseys. Kudos. Despite what Nike has done with these teams, still wish they were with Michigan (Its the same thing throughout, so little chance for a jersey disaster). Those jerseys atleast looked like they fit.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:33 PM ^
The best thing about this is that Nike made jerseys for a few teams including a similar jersey design for Florida State. The difference here is that they call the "new high-tech uniforms." FSU also got a new helmet. A couple of friends I have that went to OSU are pissed beyond belief at this. It's hilarious. They claim it's just another reason why their programs sucks and is only getting worse.

So is that spider web supposed to make you hit harder? Or is it just to look terrible? They should just stick with what they have now, and give us back the ones from 2007. And the helmets too (Yes theyre different, google Mike Hart and then Brandon Minor if you don't think so.). Although I understand why we switched, someone had to pay Rods buyout.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:36 AM ^
Sigh.
It was shown at the beginning of the year that the reason the stripes on the helmets are different today is because most of the players are wearing a more modern design of helmet. On these, the air holes would be disfiguring the stripes, so we have moved the stripes.
Don't believe me? See Henne, Chad.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:39 AM ^
Helmets are unrelated to the team apparel supplier. Helmets look different because helmet technology is advancing to make athletes safer and more concussion-proof. Some of the new designs are pretty ugly, especially when one of the holes interrupts a stripe, but it's incorrect to blame that on the Nike-adidas switch.
And the last sentence was a cheap shot. -1
November 10th, 2009 at 5:43 AM ^
make the helmets you idiot.
November 10th, 2009 at 11:42 AM ^
I'm well aware that they don't. They changed the appearence of the helmet along with the change in companies.
November 10th, 2009 at 6:05 PM ^
There isn't one helmet that the whole team wears. There are several different kinds. The helmet Minor wears was available when Hart was here; he just chose to wear a different one.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:30 PM ^
but I like the way they look.
November 10th, 2009 at 7:28 AM ^
but I like em to. Or should I say, I like them better than OSU's regular uni's, which I find to be repulsive, not due to overall feelings toward the Buckeyes, I really just think their unifroms are god awful.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:33 PM ^
has this exact same photo - so it is probably the real deal.
The threading on the shoulders is just terrible - it reminds of a bird wing, should be something for Oregon.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:35 PM ^
I'm coming back for the first OSU Michigan game in a while, and it makes me kinda sad it wont actually look like the OSU I have seen so many times, but whatever.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:42 PM ^
If you watch this video, it explains the new uniforms. The under protection that they'll get is pretty cool, actually.

November 10th, 2009 at 1:11 PM ^
Thanks for the video. That is a pretty innovative idea and I think the jerseys look cool too, Im not sold on the webbing/yarn on the shoulder but it isn't insane looking like oregon has, it is just noticeable and I don't really mind it. The helmet is awesome as are the glove and cleats.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:44 PM ^
I still think it's kinda lame it's for our game and not OSU's senior day, but the throwback idea is cool in general.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:59 PM ^
I'm sorry but I have no idea why they would wear those. That looks just god aweful. I've seen bad throw backs but numbers on the helmet that white helmet? I don't know thats just not a good look.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:36 AM ^
lol.. I bet 90% of their fanbase loves the damn things.. it's OSU...
in that thread, there's a guy who's happy about the uniforms because "Oregon players shouldn't look better than OSU players" .... for real..
November 10th, 2009 at 11:25 AM ^
I'm actually impressed with how dumb that is.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:04 AM ^
that'll be adding insult to injury. Those pants look like the gabardine knickers my dad wore back in 1923.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:06 AM ^
shoot, that nike tech looks pretty cool actually. I'm not sure how much of a performance boost it gives or if it's just marketing hype, but it's not like OSU needs any more of an advantage against us.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:32 AM ^
Fits the classless pricks just about right, I would say.

I have no idea what to think of the pants - were they going for a frog skin look?
November 10th, 2009 at 12:47 AM ^
Apparently that is exactly what they were trying to recreate. They're wearing these for their game against Utah, I believe
November 10th, 2009 at 1:14 PM ^
I'm not ure about the frog skin print on the pants or the red for the blood from the eyes going with purple and grayish black but maybe it'll look better in person.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:43 AM ^
Ever since we switched from Nike to ADIDAS we have gone down hill. Maybe a switch back is what this team needs
November 10th, 2009 at 9:06 AM ^
It's "The pen IS mightier, Mr. Connery."
November 10th, 2009 at 12:47 AM ^
The worst part is that the palms on the gloves they'll be wearing come together to make a logo. If OSU scores, look for their players to put their palms side-by-side, facing out.
Miami, FSU, TCU, VT, OU, Texas, Florida, LSU, and Mizzou are all doing similar things, although I don't think they are all doing throwbacks, some are doing new uniforms completely.

Why doesn't Osu just dress up like Spider Man if they're wearing these!
November 10th, 2009 at 1:08 AM ^
maybe we could go for an X-Men Wolverine look while at it..
rofl..
November 10th, 2009 at 3:24 AM ^
Let's match them head-on, and go with Throwback Wolverine.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:57 PM ^
is wolverine's second custom.
His first was the blue and yellow.

(well, a cheaper version)
For Halloween.
Maybe I'll bring it in for The Game.
Also, those gloves - having the word "Tradition" on them... seriously??
November 10th, 2009 at 1:15 PM ^
I wouldn't mind having a pair of Michigan gloves like that when I play.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:49 AM ^
That has pulled off the throwback look this year in college so far was Georiga in my opinion. Those black helmets didn't look too bad. Better than this clown suit that Osu's going to wear.
November 10th, 2009 at 11:29 AM ^
As if OSU players really needed an incentive to act like classless pricks after a touchdown.
November 10th, 2009 at 12:58 AM ^
I'm not sure why everyone claims this jersey is so inanely horrible. It's a legit, perfectly accurate (except for the webbing) throwback to their 1954 look, it's pretty much the inverse of Alabama's jerseys. Are we just hating them because OHIO STATE OBVIOUSLY EQUALS FAIL LOL
November 10th, 2009 at 6:11 PM ^
Did OSU really wear italicized numbers in 1954?
November 10th, 2009 at 8:23 PM ^
They did.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:25 AM ^
to keep them nice and cool on a 39-degree day in late November.
I like this from the FSU blurb on their new uniforms. You can't make this stuff up. Well, maybe you can if you write for The Onion:
"Nike designers immersed themselves in Florida State Seminoles history and lore to bring inspirational cues to the look and direction of the Nike Pro Combat uniforms.
The feather pattern on the pant and jersey symbolizes the proud and unconquered heritage of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, whose ancestors were never defeated over the course of three wars in the 19th century, surviving by moving deep into the harsh swamps of the Florida Everglades.
The solid black helmet pays tribute to Osceola, the legendary Native American warrior whose leadership of the Seminoles during the Second Seminole War has made him an enduring symbol of the unconquered spirit that Florida State athletes seek to embody.
Osceola's name was an English translation of the Creek Indian name Asi-Yahola, meaning 'Black Drink Singer.' The name referred to a ritual among many Southeastern tribes of drinking a pungent black tea prepared from the roasted leaves and stems of the Yaupon holly before battles or other important events."
Somehow, I don't think that flowed from the pen of Bobby Bowden. Anyway, I am sure glad that the FSU guys will get all of the body-heat regulation out of their new Nike uniforms, because somehow, the notion of doing two-a-day football pracitces in full pads in August in Tallahassee, Florida, while wearing a BLACK helmet, tells me that my body heat might need some regulatin'.
November 10th, 2009 at 6:17 PM ^
The FSU guys should check their dictionaries. Osceola isn't an English translation of Asi-Yahola; it's a transcription. (The translation is "Black Drink Singer.")

has taken over college football.
November 10th, 2009 at 2:21 AM ^
Is it okay if I hate Ohio State because...it's Ohio State?
Retro or current...Fuck Ohio!
November 10th, 2009 at 9:07 AM ^
on 97.1 when they were talking about the throw backs that OSU will be wearing, a nike employee called in and said that the only reason why nike is having OSU wear these jeresys for this game is to take a shot at michigan for switching to adidas. to me that sounds like a pretty lame reason to do something like this. what does nike have to gain??? nothing really, because i highly doubt that any of the throw backs that they are going to sell in stores are going to be made of this speical fabric...
and to nike, get over it!!! if they really wanted to keep michigan they would have ante up and resigned michigan. instead michigan signed with adidas for a much larger contract. and if any of the other adidas school renegotiates for a bigger contract than michigan adidas HAS to go back to michigan renegotiate a bigger deal.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:07 AM ^
I think that in honor of hosting Ohio State's throwback uniform day, Michigan should throw a giant campus-wide party, using the 2009 interest-to-date that we've earned on all of the extra money we've gotten from our adidas contract. We'll wear Notre Dame-throwback jerseys, in honor of the fact that our contract is bigger than ND's previously-largest adidas/school contract.
November 10th, 2009 at 11:06 AM ^
Does anyone have a link to a site that shows the Michigan Uni's throughout the ages? I'm trying to find something but haven't found anything...
November 10th, 2009 at 12:23 PM ^
And those jerseys are absolutely retarded. Ohio, are they serious??
