Top ten MBB moments where a defensive stand won our games?
In the big ten tourney. Gritty craft.
Trey picks Appling's pocket to take the lead and then steals the pass on the next possession to seal the game.
A few years ago, @ Crisler, when Green had a shot at the buzzer he missed... that one comes to mind
That was 2012. J-Mo had a big block in that sequence. It's at 7:05 in the clip:
Also note the epic Beilein dance at 8:40!
IIRC Maceo Baston blocks a duke shot to seal a victory in 94.
I'm not so sure that the Illinois game in the BTT counts as a defensive stand. Or the Nebraska game for that matter. When I think of a defensive stand I think of a block, or steal, or drawing a foul (charge). Not necessarily the opposing team missing an open shot.
When Amaker was here, his first of 3 wins over Izzo was sort of like that. We won 70-68. Sparty missed a 3 at the buzzer.
we won 60-59 and I remember us forcing them into a very unlikely shot to drop...

Morgans charge and then the rebound/dunk to end it.
Draymond Green's shot at the end of the game a couple years ago at Crisler.
And even though a missed FT and Trey's 3 is what everyone thinks of when recollecting last year's game against Kansas, our defense was pretty darn good down the stretch. We had timely steals and rebounds to help keep the door open for Trey's dramataics.
We trailed 60-48 at the half, and then completely shut down the Shockers in the second half, notwithstanding losing Phil Hubbard to foul trouble with 7+ minutes left in the game. Held them to 13 points in the second half, and won 74-73 on a Rickey Green 20-footer with 3 seconds left.
Seton Hall in '89 seems pretty important.

Can't be true. Spartoons say Michigan has only been good at basketball for the past 2 years.
Trey's steal at Purdue last year.
I don't think I have ever watched a better defensive player in college bball, and that doesn't even include that he was always giving up height, sometimes a lot of height, to whomever he was guarding.
When he and Hubbard fouled out of the '76 Finals, it was the end for us, but to give Indiana credit, I have never witnessed a more devastating and efficient half of basketball than IU in the second half of that game.
IIRC, Webber (guarding the inbounds) tipped the UK inbound pass to himself and threw it in the air, killing the clock.
When Chris Webber called a timeout... shit that was a defensive stand for NC.
Too soon, man.

Trey's block on Aaron Craft at Crisler
Purdue in 94. Big scrum under the basket after a Purdue miss. Clock ran out. Jalen started clowning and running all over the court. Was a memorable finish. Also, the Baston block over Duke could not have been 94. He did not even get there until 95. I think that game was in 97.
Baston's freshman year was 1994-95.
