Top 250 Prospect Lists

Submitted by NOLA Blue on

With the two new commits, Michigan now has 11 prospects who have made at least one of the recruiting sites' (Rivals, Scouts, 247, ESPN) Top-250 lists.  (150 for ESPN)

4 lists:  ILB James Ross, CB Terry Richardson

3 lists:  OT Erik Magnuson, WDE Tom Strobel, OLB Royce Jenkins-Stone

2 Lists:  ILB Joe Bolden

1 List:  TE Devin Funchess, WDE Mario Ojemudia, WDE Pharaoh Brown, DT/SDE Matthew Godin, ILB Kaleb Ringer

Obviously, LB and DE are stacked... each position is filled completely with recruits who have made at least one Top-250 list.  Pretty impressive.  I can't wait until a few more of these OL recruits drop.  I would imagine they will be quite pleased to have that defensive front 7 to practice against for the next 4 years.  It looks like Hoke's focus is the defensive front 7 and the offensive front 6; where championships are made!  Go Blue, baby!!!

I like your attitude regarding the men up front.  Here's to hoping for 2-3 DT's, 1-2 more OL.  And I'll take one WR thank you very much.

I have a dumb question about recruiting: So we have 2 (at least) spots left to I'll our class, but over 100 offers on the table. I'm sure there a handful of that hundred we are really going after hard. So what happens if one of the prospects far lower down our wish list accept the offer? Are we bound to take them on, or can we take the offer off the table...

...at least 5 spots left.  The 2 spots is the bear minimum if Hoke is insane, asks every fifth year back, no one leaves, etc.

We may have up to 25 spots, actually.

And as you said, Hoke's own actions I think backs up my analysis.

Not to mention the fact that this gives all the coaches the ability to start working on some of Shane Morris's classmates. I've gotta believe a large amount of personal attention while you're between your sophomore and junior years of high school could go a long way towards building solid relationships with coaches.

I think we take 2 more DL, with at least one of them being a true DT.  We're probably done at DE unless Washington or Pittman want to come, in which case Godin is a DT and we take one of the DTs we're after.

Basically, the first two of Pittman, Washington, Shittu, Day, Pipkins or Jarron Jones gets in.   And I would take any two from that group, no doubt about it.

The last time I was this happy about our recruiting class was when we pulled LaMarr Woodley and Prescott Burgess in the same week.

Woodley 5* ranked 14 nationaly by rivals

Burgess 5* ranked 6 nationaly by rivals

I know we can count an early enroller with the previous class if we have room in the prior class...  but I lost track of the prior class...  Seems like there were spots left, but cannot recall for sure...

I'm pretty sure it only matters if there is enough attrition for 28 signees. I believe the early enrolees give you an opportunity to expend THAT YEAR'S class. So if we were able to sign 28 players for the 2011 class and keep our total under 85, we could if we had 3 early enrolees. If we don't have the room, the EE mean virtually nothing ( aside from obv. the experience ).
