According to Brice Marich on twitter our director of player personnel to Fresno State to be their new Defensive line coach. Good luck to him. Brady Hoke for DL line coach ? I kid lol

I think that means we can wave bye bye to Tufele, but I am really happy he has gotten the opportunity. It's good for the staff to get guys in analyst and recruiting coordinator roles into full time coaching positions, shows growth and can help attract more talented guys.

Couldn't we pull an Urban Meyer and wait until the day the kid commits and then have the coach scamper away?

Oh, wait -that's right, we're not scumbags that would fool an 18 year old like Meyer did with Weber.

including bonuses. http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/football/assistant

Tuioti was making $125k here. http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2016/03/michigans_brian_smith…

Nor sure where you're getting those numbers, but obviously the chance to advance his career is a big factor. DL coach to head coach in a couple of years is awfully optimistic though.

Maybe try significantly increasing bonuses each year you stay on.

Or write it into a legally enforceable contract;

develop staying into an industry norm that your reputation rests upon...

...I was once asked to make a minimum commitment for a job, and though I wanted - from the get go - to exit early, it did give me pause, having given my word...

...I knew others, too, who stayed exactly long enough to see their commitment through, precisely in order to honor it.

Coaches leaving for lateral jobs often have to pay some sort of buyout. That's waived if they're moving up the ladder. So Durkin taking a HC job is free to go. Taking a DC job somewhere else, he has some obligation. I don't think you could ever expect staff and assistants to sign contracts that prevent them from taking promotions elsewhere. That's not how the coaching business works.
