Tony Lippett = Viable Option For UM QB, says MSU DC
I've got BTN on right now as we get ready to start T-minus 33hours and Sparty D-coordinator Pat Narduzzi is being interviewed.
Am I the only one who raised an eyebrow at the following quote?
Our scout team QB is doing as good a job as any QB you can have. Coach Rodriquez should call to see if Tony Lippett can transfer because he can run that offense as well as any QB.
This isn't anything earth shattering or "bulletin board material", but that's a Michigan State coach suggesting the despised MICHIGAN head coach call a Spartan to see if he is interested in transferring. I understand this is Nardoofus's attempt at a compliment, but in my opinion, he butchered it Spartan-style. The coach went on to say that he HAS, in fact, faced someone as dangerous as Denard.....Pat White.

of a stupid attempt at an elbow-nudge at richrod. kind of like 'anyone can run that offense. our 3rd string WR ran it as well as denard. hur hur'

Translated: His defense couldn't tackle Lippett either? Now I am more excited.

Very much this. It means that their wide receiver in his first week running this offense was making plays against State's D.
Consider me excited.

As irritating as that quote from Narduzzi is, the deceptiveness of this thread title is even more irritating. Narduzzi is obviously not seriously suggesting that Lippett consider a transfer, but the title of the thread sucks people in by implying that that's the case.

I guess if I have to explain or defend my post then it's possible that some people have the same view as you.
However, if I was attributing a QUOTE to Narduzzi, I would have used QUOTATION MARKS.
Sorry you got sucked into my "network marketing" thread. :rolls-eyes:

and implied Narduzzi said on tv that the kid should switch schools, or UM should try to get him to. instead it was merely a nod to the player's ability to simulate Denard well.
in other news: the odds that 3rd stringer could also throw the ball and not just run? low

Not trying to be a douche, I'm not a perfect person either ... I just know there are a lot of Spartan trolls lurking this website and they'll take whatever ammo they can get back to their stupid fucking little message boards ("hey, did you hear what this guy on that scUM message board said hurrrrr hurrrr hurrrr HERPTY DERP"). Just sayin we alll need to stay on top of our game right now.
To prove that I'm not out to get you or anything, here's a compliment -- I like your Guinness-themed avatar.

Sparty No? So basically what he is saying is that either RR's offense is so simple anybody could run it (which we all know it patently false), or his defense is so inept that a backup WR can make them look silly.
October 8th, 2010 at 8:08 AM ^
Precisely my point. Thank you for doing a better job than me of explaining it.
Go blue.

Sam and Ira were discussing this issue today. They said that a Michigan State player had made a comment that the scout team was killing the defense at Tuesday's practice consistently. Tuesday's practice was live (full speed/contact), while Wed and Thursday were not.

Bronxblue, I don't think it's the second.
Call me naive, but why would you make a comment like that. Why not be bland and say yeah, we are trying our best right now. Has winning the last 2 years given them such a big head. I guess I am happy I don't deal with any MSU fans.

But lets be honest, Narduzzi isn't exactly the sharpest bulb in the box, here. The point he was trying to make was, Lippett is running the Zone Read Spread well, and giving our D a good look to practice against.
But since Narduzzi is a few marbles short of a full deck, he didn't consider the fact that it is not POSSIBLE that a third string WR behind the scout team O line is running the O as well as Michigan's first team, so what it actually means is that they suck defending it. OR they have a poor understanding of it.
Either way, we know two things. Narduzzi's attic light is low wattage, and Advantage = Michigan.
Unless he's just blowing smoke to stir things up, and which case, the above is still true.

and I wrote then that if this dude was as good as Denard at running our offense, he wouldn't be a third stringer; if those guys think they have a handle on our offensive execution based on this guy and our play last year, they have another thing coming...
October 8th, 2010 at 10:56 AM ^
that they have a 3rd string WR that could be in the heisman running if he was spread-option QB. Wow!
October 8th, 2010 at 8:27 AM ^
Made a title change.
If Tony Lippett's lighting them up...
October 8th, 2010 at 8:30 AM ^
You have someone who could be the nations leading rusher and leading Heisman candidate on the bench?
Who says Sparty's aren't smart...
October 8th, 2010 at 8:42 AM ^
he runs a 4.5 40...not good for sparty
October 8th, 2010 at 9:00 AM ^
He was definitely commenting on the "simplicity" of the Michigan offense. As in, "anyone can do it". Rather immature. MSU's inferiority complex certainly runs deep. It has even permeated their coaching staff.
October 8th, 2010 at 9:09 AM ^
seems like someone is making a big deal out of nothing. that would be you due51.
October 8th, 2010 at 9:09 AM ^
Did he mention how he did facing Pat White? Apparently allowing 40 ppg to those wvu teams didn't exactly win him the head cinci job when dantonio left...
October 8th, 2010 at 9:25 AM ^
He's just jealous that a certain Michigan QB stole his "Nard Dog" nickname.
October 8th, 2010 at 9:44 AM ^
Just trying to demystify Denard and pump up his guys. And maybe take a slight dig. All part of the fun and games. Don't let it bother you.
October 8th, 2010 at 10:30 AM ^
I suppose we should forfeit now. I will make a white flag.
October 8th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
Regardless of what the intended purpose of this statement is, it's just really dumb.
