TomVH: WR Devin Lucien Senior Highlights

Submitted by TomVH on

California WR Devin Lucien wanted me to share his senior highlights with you. He said he read the last blog post about him and he loves what all the fans were saying.

Never seen anyone catch the ball away from his body so naturally.  Would love to see him catching passes in Michigan Stadium next year.

Devin reads this blog, eh? Let's hope he hasn't stumbled across any meltdowns on the subject of something that rhymes with "poaching mange."

Go Blue, Devin!

EDIT: Also, I don't know anything about the level of competition or how to judge things like technique or route running, but holy balls that's an impressive highlight film. When you score literally every time you touch the ball, that's good, right?

We lose our top 3 outside WRs after next year (Stonum, Hemingway, Odoms) and Je'Ron Stokes only has one year of eligibility after next year.  It's obvious how dynamic RichRod's offense is with true playmakers both in the slot and outside - both Stonum and Hemingway are over 500 yards this year.

IMO, one of the keys to keeping this offense in the top-10 nationally is the presence of playmakers on the outside.

It is like his hands are magnets...the ball just seems to stick to them.  I love the sportman handing of the ball to the ref after the touchdown...speaks of good character

I'm not sure at all how this translate into football speed (i.e. is this a fast time for a high schooler?) but he seems like a burner. It seemed like every highlight was a streaks play with him just flat outrunning guys. Hope he's running those fly patterns for us soon.

He's definitely legit. Great hands, good size, GREAT body control on the jump ball and he is deceptively fast for his size. He would be a very good pickup for Michigan.

the kids good, the kids good.. Now hopefully he wants to play like that in front of the biggest audience there is, streaking down the field with maize wings on his head! Go Blue!

IIRC he is something like the #27 receiver according to one site and like 150 something according to another.  I find it really difficult to believe there are 26 better WR's in the country let alone 150 some.  I'm not saying he's the best but man, I really can't see many others having a better combination of Devin's talents.  The way he catches with his hands and high points the ball, his yac, his SPEED, his stiff arm, etc.  His tape looked an awful lot like Braylonfest.

The truth is that I'm not even saying this because I want to stroke his ego or sway him to go Blue but I found those highlights impressive as hell.  He looks like the kind of player can make plays that make you say "why don't we just throw it to him every time?"  As dangerous as the offense is now and will be next year, having a kid like Devin... man, it's almost too scary to think about.

When I seen his junior film I couldn't belive how low he was rated as a receiver. Seeing these highlights shows me he has even put in some work since then. His speed is good but thats not why hes getting open.. he runs grat routes..look how open he gets and how easily he does it. The D's are constantly rolling coverage his way but he kills them so effortlessly.  I would bet the recruiting websites are holding that 4.49 40 against him pretty hard. But there are a bunch of receivers in the Hall that ran that speed so w/e.The tools are all there with this kid, I think h just needs to keep putting in the work and he will get to wherever he wants t be.  Would love to see you go Blue Devin, I think you could do some special things with the weapons this offense would already have around you.

The stiff arm on the first highlight was all I needed to convince me we need this talent, now! He's like a Steve Breaston-Braylon Edwards hybrid. This kid was born to fly, so lets dawn him with the winged helmet

Devin - great video. From a fellow SFV resident, Ann Arbor is an awesome place and we'd love to see you in the Maize and Blue.

I wish I would have known about him during the season, I live pretty close to his HS and my fiancee went to his rival high school (Notre Dame). Go Blue DL!

Always like to see  a guy outrun the entire defense.   Looks like he's got good hands too.  Could use an outside WR like this in the upcoming class.

I love that he actually uses his hands to catch the ball. All the dropped passes were crippling at times this year! I sure hope he decides to come to Ann Arbor because a kid with great hands like that is definitely needed.

I read the news earlier today that verbal commit WR Conway was going to have to go the JUCO route. We all know what usually happens to kids that want to play at Michigan, but have to go the JUCO route - they rarely make it on campus.

Now I see that WR Lucien has high interest in Michigan! The class of 2011 sure seems to have a good group of WRs! What a great couple highlight tapes I've watched already on Devin. Hopefully there will be a highlight tape for Michigan WR Devin Lucien's All American season in 2014 or 2015! Would be awesome to have another Heisman winner from the WR position!

Looking forward to a number of "Hello:xxx" posts to read before Christmas! GO BLUE!!
