is worried about Dee?

Everything to do with Gallon 2.0 .. Slot Ninja in training that's all
November 4th, 2010 at 8:20 AM ^
I would like to see a Gallon 1.0 earn his keep before we start talking about a Gallon 2.0
November 4th, 2010 at 9:14 AM ^
Gallon 1.0 hasn't proven much this year. I'm sure he will so I'll remain optimistic... I always do.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:40 AM ^
I believe the timing of this has everything to do with Dee. Devondrick Nealy is the slot ninja. Gallon is the outside WR. Gallon is the backup plan to Watkins and the 1 open slot offer is down to Nealy and Holloway. I think Mason is insurance if Dee bolts. That being said I don't see Dee bolting. He'll leave if RichRod goes. I don't see him being fired. He still has the "break glass in case of emergency:Throw GERG or even the entire D staff into the volcano" card he can play before he gets the axe. So I don't see Mason coming here IMO.

I would hope we're going for as many athletic skill position players as possible, and that Hart has nothing to do with this.
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:54 PM ^
I'd think that's what we'd all hope.
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:53 PM ^
By skill position you mean LB, DL, S and CB right?
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:56 PM ^
I'm not sure what to think about this. I like his 40 time though? 4.39
November 3rd, 2010 at 10:58 PM ^
With a 2.7 GPA and 830 SAT, is this kid borderline? My instinct says no, but I don't want to get my hopes up for the hundredth time.
November 3rd, 2010 at 11:07 PM ^
Should be good to go.
November 3rd, 2010 at 11:32 PM ^
Elligible does not equal accpeted. Also, I obviously don't know Mason's details, but a 2.7 GPA may not be a core unweighted 2.7 GPA.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:40 AM ^
I am also thinking that his course load included Pre-Calc, Honor's English, and French II.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:16 AM ^
He clearly meets NCAA eligibility requirements but does he meet Michigan admissions standards (for football players, that is)? Anybody have any idea on the bare minimum admissions guidelines for UM?
November 4th, 2010 at 9:44 AM ^
When I took it, I thought it was out of 36. Is that percentile?
November 3rd, 2010 at 11:14 PM ^
...combo.
2.700 GPA in the core curriculum plus minimum 730 SAT (Reading/Math only) equals eligible. Another way to look at it is an 830 SAT plus a minimum of 2.475 GPA in the core curriculum equals eligible.
Core curriculum: classes not at the remedial level and math classes at or above Algebra I in English, math, natural/physical science, social science, foreign language or non-doctrinal religion/philosophy.

With all of these 'indicators' popping up, you should postpone the update until the conclusion of the Illinois game so that either people will be too mellowed out to panic, or a riot ensues here.
November 4th, 2010 at 12:00 AM ^
be happy we brought in only DL,LB, and DB's in the 2011 class!! Come on D coaches get out there and recruit some Studs!!
November 4th, 2010 at 6:33 AM ^
Moderation in all things. We have seen what happens when we only focus on onside of the ball.
November 4th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
With him and Dee, how many RBs do we have now? like 10?
Pull a Cam Gordon move and convert all these suckers into Safety and CBs.
November 4th, 2010 at 5:35 AM ^
We need like 4-5 db's in this class.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:01 AM ^
We have 2 currently, and Kitchen seems like all we need to do is offer him. So, there is 3 and we seem to be in strong position for Crawford and Walls. Still going after Lyons and Karlos and HaHa. I am probably missing someone. After taking 6 DB's, we might take another 4 at least. Seems like a good haul for 2 classes.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:21 AM ^
Should we still consider him a commit? I would say we have 1 legit CB commit right now. Agreed on Kitchen.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:28 AM ^
I guess until he officially de-commits or starts to take more visits. Not sure if I heard this from Sam, but someone said he didn;t seem that intersted in his visit to Syracuse and was more like going thru the motions. Who knows. Besides Crawford, are we looking at anymore DB's?
November 4th, 2010 at 9:35 AM ^
As I have written here before and probably will have to again I see Avery Walls going to Oregon. Not trying to be a Debrah Downer just telling it as I see it. Keep your hopes in check.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:42 AM ^
Fair enough, I think he is moving toward Oregon as well. I put in him there because we were strong with him and until Tom or someone that has something more substantiated than what he puts on his facebook picture, not saying that this may not be a good indicator, says anything else. I am still hoping. This kid was recruiting for us awhile back. Hard to go from recrutiing for us to completely out of the picture.
November 4th, 2010 at 8:17 AM ^
this tells me that the coaching staff is indeed hedging their bets on Hart, which is probably smart. When Sam Webb was queried about the Hart rumors earlier this week, he was careful to say that he's heard nothing to indicate that Hart was wavering, but I detected a lessening in his usual confidence about Dee. That's strictly my own interpretation, though. Regardless, considering how the season has gone over the last month, nobody should be surprised if Hart was having second thoughts, especially since the rumblings of "Fire RR" have grown into a dull roar. The fact that Auburn is doing so spectacularly well doesn't help us—there's no talk about Gene Chizik being fired at the end of the year.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:24 AM ^
I think they really want another slot. I thought Nealy was looking good. But, the staff is now going after Mason and Shuler as well. I am worried about Dee de-committing. Just purely my opinion and have no validity, but it may be something with grades and enrolling early. If you look at the tweet again -
When asked to comment on his commitment to Michigan he responded by saying "we’re working on it." Asked if he would consider re-opening his recruitment he simply stated "we will see soon." That is all he gave me at that time. However I then spoke with a coach who is very close to the situation. He told me "not to worry right now" but that there are struggles not in Dee's hands. With that said, Auburn is after him hard after they lost Mike Blakely to Florida.
The whole part about working on it and not in Dee's hands makes me think it has to do with admissions. Maybe Dee wants to enroll early and admissions has issues. This is completely my opinion and I have nothing to back it up.
EDIT : The tweet is really from UMGOBLOG.com and their tweet with Dee
November 4th, 2010 at 9:52 AM ^
This seems like a pretty logical opinion. It all kind of makes sense. Hopefully this get's cleared up.
November 4th, 2010 at 10:50 AM ^
Dee is a good student, so there should be no issues there. What it's out of Dee's hands in my opinion means: the coaches should probably win some more damn games and retain their jobs.
November 4th, 2010 at 11:10 AM ^
In my viewpoint, so fairly worthless, I know Dee is a good student, so it could be something with enrolling early and finishing the process with admissions. Dee said he would still want to come even if Coach Rod was not here. So, taking him for his word, and being out of his control, concludes me to think it has to do with something else than win/loss. Mayube I am just being too overly optimistic and hoping Dee won't commit.
November 4th, 2010 at 12:52 PM ^
Rich being around means a lot more to him than he says publicly. It wouldn't be a dealbreaker persay, but would be the preference.
November 5th, 2010 at 12:58 PM ^
Good point. I just re-read my post and I should have proof read it better. I meant to say I hope he won't de-commit. And with the news by Tom, looks like we all got our wish.
November 4th, 2010 at 8:55 AM ^
said THE Mason was offered. I'm cool with another slot guy though. So far I don't think they've gotten the explosiveness they were hoping for out of the position. Odoms is a great possession guy but has rarely (outside of the one punt return) taken one the distance. T-rob and Kelvin have shown to be somewhat reliable but nothing earth shattering. I was really hoping for the kid from Jersey (Miles Shuler I think). Seemed like he had phenomal speed.
November 4th, 2010 at 9:01 AM ^
this guy becomes a lock down corner?
how many WR do we need?
easier to play on sunday at 5'10" at cornerback than at WR
November 4th, 2010 at 9:13 AM ^
Does it really matter what his potential is better suited for on Sundays? I'm more worried about what this kid can do for us on Saturdays. I'm not saying I don't want our recruits/players to have success on Sundays but I don't care how tall they are or what their pro potential is better suited for. Our staff is still recruiting DBs hard and are definitely aware of our positions of need on that side of the ball.
November 4th, 2010 at 11:13 AM ^
every kid is sold on the possibility that whatever program he is talking with is the one that will help him get to sunday
I don't care which kid you are talking about, but the NFL is always the dream and every program hypes this up
I hope UofM gets amazing atheletes and the coaches put them in the best position to do well on saturday and on sunday
November 4th, 2010 at 11:01 AM ^
How does he fill about playing DB?
November 4th, 2010 at 1:07 PM ^
How many threads, Tom, have you titled "[name of athlete] Receives Michigan Offer" since 2008 where I thought to myself "defensive back?" and clicked to find "slot receiver?"

So many times.

Any clarification on the Dee comments? If Tom has already answered I apologize, I searched but couldn't find an answer from TomVH.
