TomVH: Terry Talbott Update

Submitted by TomVH on
I just got another email from Jay Minton, who is Terry Talbott's coach. Jay said that Terry has a meeting scheduled with his mom at 7PM, and they will have a decision on what he's doing after that meeting. So, we should know tonight whether or not he will be coming to Michigan.

I understand that everyone's family situation is different, and I know that the Talbotts' circumstances aren't the of the "Leave it to Beaver" variety, but it just seems odd to see that a son and a mom have a scheduled "meeting" time and its then published on the internet...I wonder if he accepted verbally or via Facebook?

I'm guessing it's a meeting between Terry, his mother, and Coach Minton. A lot of these decisions are made as a group. There may even be others involved in the meeting, but my guess is this is the meeting that's going to go down at 7 tonight.

Yeah, I had it saying "That would make the most sense, IMHO" rather than "That could be a possibility". I wrote the first one real quickly without really thinking about trying to be careful wording it, which i should have. Didn't think about the potential to rub people the wrong by saying that someone's parent was locked up who I personally knew nothing about. Apologies to those I offended.

Tom- Have seen that this is supposed to be the "dead period" for recruits....is there any contact allowed by the NCAA during this period at all?? Meaning no texts, home visits, calls...anything??? Reason I ask is that it was mentioned that Washington was making a push for Parker....but if this is the "dead period" what kind of push could they be making at this late hour?? In regards to Talbott....did Butch Davis make that big of an impression a couple of weeks ago??

Texts are banned completely at all times. The "dead period" means no in-person contact, no in-home visits, no on-campus visits. The usual one phone call per week is allowed (the recruits can call the coaches as much as they want), and emails/regular mail is unlimited.

I think he is saying you are like Santa Claus to us right now. Only you have hundreds of grown men sitting here in excitement awaiting your arrival. Okay, that is kinda weird.

IMO this sounds like a "but Mom I wanna go there I don't wanna go to Michigan". If he does decommit 1. Does Terrence decommit too and: A: follow him B: go somewhere else (yes I do know that he said that he'll be a wolverine but he also said that he and his brother would play at the same school) 2. Do we pull his scholarship? 3. Nothing he stays committed and him and his brother go to different schools. I'm not saying that we should or that we shouldn't I'm just asking what we think is gonna happen.

I thought it was the other way around. I could have sworn I heard Sam Webb say that Terrance (the cb) was the older brother. Either way, it's confusing. If they both come to UM here's hoping they won't try to put their first names on their jerseys. T. Talbott, hmmm no, Te Talbott no, Ter Talbott, no that won't work, Terr Talbott, DAMMIT!

benches 300 and squats 400..... That sounds pretty tough to me..... It also says alot about his toughness and character not wavering once on his commitment to us, even though is brother is looking elsewhere... Sibling pressure can be brutal. His actions speak volumes on his "mental" toughness... Seeing his handling of this situation, I think he can probably kick TT "the DT"'s butt all over the place..... ATTITUDE.... I like guys who are on our team, who have something to prove.....

I would guess that we would go w/ option 3--Nothing, he and his brother go to different schools. He looks pretty talented in his own right, so I doubt the coaches would pull his scholarship, and everything that I've read about him online has stated that he is 100% committed to Michigan.
