can't get here soon enough.
landing spot. will be interesting to see how he does.
can't get here soon enough.
Thanks for the update. Hope he chooses Maize and Blue!
I understand that everyone's family situation is different, and I know that the Talbotts' circumstances aren't the of the "Leave it to Beaver" variety, but it just seems odd to see that a son and a mom have a scheduled "meeting" time and its then published on the internet...I wonder if he accepted verbally or via Facebook?
I read it as being a meeting between the coach, mom and son (not just a meeting between mom and son).
Didn't realize 17 yr old kids needed to setup a meeting to talk to their own moms :)
I hope Deion Sanders isn't the mediary setting up this meeting...
Or, Bryce Brown's "Agent/Handler"...
Eh, when I was 17 I avoided my parents like the plague. They had to call me to set up meetings. They hated it.
I know right? weird...
I think maybe it is a poor choice of words. I bet it's Terry and his mother plan on discussing this over dinner which is usually around 7pm.
I'm guessing it's a meeting between Terry, his mother, and Coach Minton. A lot of these decisions are made as a group. There may even be others involved in the meeting, but my guess is this is the meeting that's going to go down at 7 tonight.
She could be incarcerated. Wasn't it said that Terrance and Terry lived with their grandparents? That could be a possibility... Just sayin'...
Not sure why this post got negged.............
worded differently and just edited it so the negging would stop...
Yeah, I had it saying "That would make the most sense, IMHO" rather than "That could be a possibility". I wrote the first one real quickly without really thinking about trying to be careful wording it, which i should have. Didn't think about the potential to rub people the wrong by saying that someone's parent was locked up who I personally knew nothing about. Apologies to those I offended.
...the same thing! Kind of odd. Can't you just walk in to the living room and say, "Hey Mom..."??
I guess times are changing.
Have seen that this is supposed to be the "dead period" for recruits....is there any contact allowed by the NCAA during this period at all?? Meaning no texts, home visits, calls...anything???
Reason I ask is that it was mentioned that Washington was making a push for Parker....but if this is the "dead period" what kind of push could they be making at this late hour??
In regards to Talbott....did Butch Davis make that big of an impression a couple of weeks ago??
Texts are banned completely at all times.
The "dead period" means no in-person contact, no in-home visits, no on-campus visits. The usual one phone call per week is allowed (the recruits can call the coaches as much as they want), and emails/regular mail is unlimited.
Just was thinking along the lines that "dead period" meant no contact at all.
I send my son emails from work to his cellphone occasionally that he gets as texts. Would they count as emails or texts?
My guess would be that falls in the gray area that so many coaches (read: Kiffin, Lane) live in.
It seems like I remember several instances where it was said that so and so recruit received a text from xx coach. Is this new?
Two words: Kelvin. Sampson.
If it's foggy out there, don't be too proud.
Ask Rudolph for help.
I'm not following. It's been a long week already.
I think he is saying you are like Santa Claus to us right now. Only you have hundreds of grown men sitting here in excitement awaiting your arrival. Okay, that is kinda weird.
Hey, as always, we appreciate the work.
BTW, I've checked out your U Recruit pg, looks great! You need anything, you know where to find me
Ahh, I see now.
Thank you, I will do that.
Thanks as always Tom. You're one of the bests
IMO this sounds like a "but Mom I wanna go there I don't wanna go to Michigan".
If he does decommit
1. Does Terrence decommit too and:
A: follow him
B: go somewhere else (yes I do know that he said that he'll be a wolverine but he also said that he and his brother would play at the same school)
2. Do we pull his scholarship?
3. Nothing he stays committed and him and his brother go to different schools.
I'm not saying that we should or that we shouldn't I'm just asking what we think is gonna happen.
Here's hoping that Terrence Talbott is one of the big surprises in the class.
He must be tough as nails.
Can you imagine having a twin brother who is 100 LBS bigger than you? Seriously?
but the point still stands.
Replace "twin brother" with "flunkout, older brother in your same grade"
They could be step-brothers. There's lots of blended families out there (edit: like mine). Or it's like a George Foreman situation.
I didn't realize the Talbott's were Irish Catholic.
Not twins... 9 mos apart (I believe that CB Talbott is the younger and DT Talbott the older)
I thought it was the other way around. I could have sworn I heard Sam Webb say that Terrance (the cb) was the older brother.
Either way, it's confusing. If they both come to UM here's hoping they won't try to put their first names on their jerseys. T. Talbott, hmmm no, Te Talbott no, Ter Talbott, no that won't work, Terr Talbott, DAMMIT!
The jersey confusion is the real reason for the shakiness in the commitment.
Also, why do the names on the jersey's have to be different? Shouldn't we be able to tell the difference between a corner and a DT sooner than we can read the name on their jersey?
You would think the announcers would be able to tell the diff based on the fact that there's a good 100 lbs separating them. Then again, I'm probably giving Mike Patrick too much credit.
annnd boom goes the dynamite.
Some of the jerseys nowadays have numbers on them too.
I guess you don't remember when Brian Wright and Bracy Wright were in the same Lions secondary?
Yes, yes! This is a Uni Watch dream, for those of us interested.
and we could get a middle initial in there, MIOB.
Yeah, I read Uni Watch too.
I bet their jerseys would be like "TY. TALBOTT" and "TN. TALBOTT."
benches 300 and squats 400..... That sounds pretty tough to me..... It also says alot about his toughness and character not wavering once on his commitment to us, even though is brother is looking elsewhere... Sibling pressure can be brutal. His actions speak volumes on his "mental" toughness... Seeing his handling of this situation, I think he can probably kick TT "the DT"'s butt all over the place..... ATTITUDE.... I like guys who are on our team, who have something to prove.....
I don't question his toughness, but I bet Alex Rodriguez has a pretty good bench, and he's as much of a pansy as anyone. Remember when he girl-slapped the ball out of the first baseman's glove a few years ago? A tough guy would either accept that he's out or he'd head-butt the fielder and bite off his ear.
I would guess that we would go w/ option 3--Nothing, he and his brother go to different schools. He looks pretty talented in his own right, so I doubt the coaches would pull his scholarship, and everything that I've read about him online has stated that he is 100% committed to Michigan.
is coming to Michigan. period.
The only question is, will the two brothers come together or not.
Minton: "I'm sorry, this has never happened w/ any of my players in the 28 years I've been coaching."
it sound like he wants to go to NC, but his parents/ mom wants him to go to Michigan to be with his younger brother (who from all accounts is sticking to Michigan no matter what).
I was thinking the same thing. We could sure use him.
That coach should be sorry. An 18 year-old changing his mind? What's next, a 96 team NCAA tournament?
It's like trying to keep "Rob" and "Robert" straight.
because rob and robert really like each other.
Here's hoping he stays blue.
that Terry "scheduled a meeting" with his mom? How many siblings does he have?
Terry's people called his Mom's people and they set up a 7pm meet. Shavodrick Beaver's mom will be teleconferencing in to add her 2 cents as well.
