landing spot. will be interesting to see how he does.
TomVH: One Last Time
Thank you for what you did for the site, good luck with ESPN.
Thank you for your service, sir, and best wishes to you!
Congrats Tom! And enjoy the move back home.
Congrats Tom, thank you for all you have done and I'm sure i speak for everyone when I say we will continue to follow you and your work at ESPN. The Big Leagues ha.
Good luck to you, Tom...have fun working for Mickey.
I'm on my phone so don't kill me for the formatting. Or maybe do for old time sake.
We don't have the heart to neg you. Best of luck in the new gig, you've certainly earned it.
Moving to AA?
Congrats and thank you for all you've done, Tom!
Mrs.A and I will be talking to you at Christmas time again.
Can't do it Sally.
Er. Tom. Now this is just confusing. Gonna need Abe Vigoda to get a ruling on this one.
We are going to miss you, good luck on your new endeavors.
Thanks Tom! See you over on the darkside, if we have ESPN insider, we should be able to read your material right?
It'll be worth it to subscribe to keep up with Tom. Can we get a ruling on this one?
Congrats on the new job and best of luck. Thanks for all you've done.
Good luck in the future and looking forward to seeing your stuff on ESPN.
anyone else feel like this?
I, too, feel your pain. On a related note, what the hell is up with Eric Carmen's hair?
I was thinking more Three Dog Night - One (Is The Loneliest Number) or Air Supply - I Can't Live
"I can't liiiiivvvveee if MGoBloggin' is without yoooooooouuu!!!" Hahahahaha
Seriously though, thanks for everything Tom, ESPN will finally have some stellar recruiting on Michigan. You are the equivalent of a 5 star number one recruit in the nation to them and everyone here, good luck even though you won't need it.
Appreciate all the great work you did Tom, best of luck at ESPN! (You'll apparently have an updated recruiting format to work with)
We'll miss all that you have done for us! Thanks for your dedicated service, and impeccable record for factual information.
ESPN has landed a 5-star prospect. Congrats to you sir!
ToVH may have to take a red-shirt year to bulk up and adjust to the speed of ESPN, event highly rated recruits need some time to adjust.
Good luck TVH.
He was promised immediate playing time.
Congrats Tom. One question. You left us all hanging on the phone call that Danny was suppose to get last Monday. Care to inform by chance?
Thanks for all you did here, and good luck at the next stop.
welp, i tried to embed the original video. i did the whole switch to plain text editor and stuff and i couldn't figure it out. lucy harris smartsmartsmart everyonemurderspeople dumb.
edit: I did it!!
Thank you for everything TomVH. Good luck at ESPN.
Thanks for all the info you have given us over the years. I will never forget all those happy mornings when Id see a hello post, or a "TomVH:" post. Good luck at ESPN.
Tom for everything you have done for us. I hope to see you around A2. Although I do not like ESPN at all, maybe I can find a way to "like" them.
You have done a wonderful job and your efforts appear to have "paid" off. Congrats and Go Blue
Thanks Tom. Good luck at the mothership.
Good Luck with ESPN. That is a great Gig!
Scottsdale to Ann Arbor - both great places. Maybe you can keep your house in AZ for the winter and stay in A2 for the fall?
I applaud you for the way you have always shown class when dealing with high school prospects and respecting their wishes to not go public with info at a given time.
Best of luck. We are keeping the signal though.
I was going to say the same thing Tom, always appreciate your class in dealing with recruits. IIRC, during Kaleb Ringer's recruitment, some Ohio newspaper douche let his commitment out of the bag against Kaleb's wishes, and even though the newspaper printed the story Tom still wouldn't say anything more than that Kaleb had some news. I then had a light-bulb-ding-in-head moment and realized how good we have it with Tom on our blog(!) for free(!), who has more class and respects recruits more than journalists at regional newspapers.
Thanks again for all of your content and hard work Tom. I really think your idea to be the recruiting guru here helped push MGoBlog to the next level, as reading your interviews and even your quick updates on recruits on here has made us have that connection with the players that we didn't have before you got here. Not that Brian doesn't do a fantastic job entertaining me with his content, we just didn't have the guy talking to the players and posting on here almost daily at our disposal like we did after you came and that is a big part of what makes MGoBlog so unique as a blog. What other university has a blog where you can get SO MANY FREE, actual interviews with players? I don't believe there is another. Thank you for that, man, and I will definitely follow your career at ESPN. Good luck Tom and welcome home to Michigan.
Thanks for everything Tom. Appreciate all you did for this site. Just remember to conduct a proper Black Widow search before moving into the home. As I'm sure you will, even in Michigan.
Best of luck to you. Hope you keep up a vibrant twitter account.
Congrats on everything Tom and best of luck.
Thanks for everything you did here Tom. Stay classy over at the World Wide Leader. Look forward to you bringing some credibility to ESPN.
Reading your updates has always been a highlight of MGoBlog, and I look forward to your contributions at ESPN. Good luck with your job and your move back to AA.
Thanks for everything Tom, hope ESPN treats you well.
Good luck at ESPN and we look forward to your continued coverage of Michigan recruiting.
Thanks for everything Tom, good luck with your new position!
Thanks for the time spent keeping all of us informed on UofM recruiting! Good luck with ESPN.
The highest compliment I can give is, without fail, if I saw a TomVH post, I clicked immediately. Good luck & Congrat's on getting back to A2.
Pity you couldn't enjoy one more winter in AZ. As someone who moved from the midwest to socal in the summer 2x, just to move back in December... it's all backward. At least you can enjoy some football in the Bighouse this fall.
Welcome to MI (A2?), congratulations and thanks for the tremendous job you did here at mgoblog.
You can now tell your bosses that you will have at least one person begrudgingly handing over their hard earned cash to ESPN just for you.
Thanks for a good run. Good luck at ESPN.
To Tom VH.
Thanks for all your work Tom. Best of luck at ESPN.
Good luck, Tom. Thanks for all of your insights and hard work.
Thanks for all the work and info you've contributed to this site.
Can you share any more details about what you will be doing, when it will start, etc?
In TomVH style, you can confide in us and we won't release it to the public...
Best of luck Tom. Thank you for all your hardwork, we all appreciate it greatly.
Someone get this man a set of bat signal business cards.
All the best.
This post is not cryptic enough; I give it five FAKEs out of five. We're going to miss the quality of your work around here. Best of luck with your career.
Good luck Tom, I'll watch for you at ESPN.
As with everyone else, I've been a huge TomVH fan for as long as I've been visiting. He is the epitome of class and professionalism.
For months if not years I had a neat little picture in my mind of who TomVH was. I imagined a retired former Michigander who had relocated to a warmer climate. Perhaps a former player and/or coach with deep inside contacts in the M football program. Gray hair, maybe reading glasses.
Something like this:
Then, during one of the MGOMALWARE events, I googled TomVH Twitter.
And found this:
Thanks for everything, Tom!
ha ha. itd b crazy if tht old grandpa guy is named haiko
You do know who that old grandpa guy is, don't you?
ALLLLLLLLLL BYYYYYYYYYYYYY MYSELLLLLLLLLLLFFFFFFFF
(tearing up) unbuckling...forever
...was cryptic for, "I am not going anywhere and will stay at MGoBlog forever," but I know that is not the case. All the best, Tom. Your passion and the way you respect the athletes and their announcement timelines is unparalelled. Thanks and I'll see you on Twitter.
You're great at what you do.
Thanks for everything TomVH! Good luck at you rnew gig, I look forward to finding out more about it.
Thanks Tom for your countless updates and contributions on this blog it was one of the reasons I signed up on this site. Good luck with ESPN
Thanks Tom, I'm sure I speak for many by saying that it was always a thrill to see a "TomVH" thread. Primarily because we knew there would be factual, breaking news, and also because of your polite and concise presentation of that news.
All the best with your new position. Glad to hear your moving back to Michigan.
you will be greatly missed, but good luck at ESPN i will be sure to follow along.
Good luck Tom and thanks.
I plan to remain buckled up for a while just to be on the safe side.
When I first visited Mgoblog I was stunned by the quality of your recruiting update.
Thanks for everything and good luck to you
Everything has been much appreciated. Show the mothership how they need to do their job...
Welcome to Michigan. It will not get up to 105 degrees up here, but get ready to hear "It's not the heat it's the humidity" 3,000 times over the next few years...
My neighbors house is for sale if you are still looking (it actually is).
You will really like the neigbors! BIG MICHIGAN FANS!
Have you ever been to the Phoenix area in the summer? Try 115+
It sucks in the summer (sorry if that offends anyone but it's true.)
It's well deserved. Good luck with your new venture.
Thanks for everything Tom!
Good Luck, We are going to miss you.
Don't forget to stop on the way home and buy one. Good luck with ESPN.
Thank you for everything Tom! Best of luck at ESPN.
Good luck, Tom and a big thank you for the incredible amount of information you have shared with us on Mgoblog.
I hate goodbyes!
"Shhh. Just go..."
TomVH....Departing...*ding ding,ding ding*
I read this with your voice breaking up due to crying. It made me sad...
Bells come first.
Been awhile since I worked a quaterdeck, plus it's not good to have your "potty mouth, knuckle dragging" GM working the 1MC.
I've heard worse. At least you didn't accidentally give him the stinger.
Congratulations on your position, Tom. Truly, you deserve it.
I know there was a time zone difference but the 2:00 am updates were always kind of fun to see.
You're very lucky that Brian did not retain me as legal counsel before you signed on with MGoBlog. I would have required you to sign an employment contract with a strict no-compete clause that prohibited you from handling Michigan recruiting for a competitor for X number of years. Consider yourself lucky.
In all seriousness, I wish you the best of luck in your move and your new job. It always takes some time to get used to a new position so give it some time. I would like to say that I'll follow you to ESPN but I cannot lie - I'm an MGoBlogger through and through and have to throw all of my support at Ace. But good luck nonetheless!
Best of luck for you at ESPN!
You will certainly be missed. All the best to you as you start this exciting new chapter in your life!!
Thanks Tom! Will miss you here on the site, but looking forward to reading you on the new one!
It truly is the end of an era. Things will never be the same. That's just the way it is. Aww yeah.
Your valuable input will be greatly missed.
I wish you all the best - thanks for your irreplacable contributions to MGoBlog.
Thanks Tom. Anything I can do to make you stay? I know plenty of disease- free women and I can empty my wife's bank account. Lol. Seriously, good luck at ESPN. Say hi to Michelle Beadle for me,and punch Berman in the face.
Thank you for everything Tom... Wish you and your family the best. Also good luck with ESPN and Welcome back to the Great State of Michigan!!
Thank you for all of your hard work Tom. Good luck with your new employment opportunity!
Good luck at ESPN and thanks for all of your time and hard work here.
Thanks for making our lonely time between seasons bearable with hellos, tweets, updates and interviews.
BTW, just curious, is the moving truck funded with MGoCash or does the WWL ante up? If you can't answer because of your 10,000 page non disclosure, I understand.
Good luck and Go Blue
Shit, I thought this was one last recruiting update! J/K (sort of), seriously Tom thanks for all the hard work and great info. Congrats and good luck moving forward.
Will you still be allowed to post updates via tweets, or is it all going up behind the paywall at the WWL
Thanks for everything
I, along with most everyone here, wish you well. Your perspective was invaluable, and made me into much more of a recruitnik than I ever was prior. I hope you will give some tips to the new guys here on how you built such great relationships with recruits.
Thanks for everything, TomVH. May I name my dog DogVH after you. #SERIOUSLY
glad that you get to move back to Michigan. Good luck with everything. Thanks for all your contributions!
Your class and insight were amazing. We will all miss your contributions on this site. Good luck on your new job and don't forget about us here even if you cant post insider info!
I've really enjoyed reading your superb posts. Good luck at ESN and welcome to your new home here in Michigan.
Look forward to reading you on ESPN
Buckle Up for the drive to Michigan!
... at the Evil Four Letter, you will be missed.
Even better luck at the company Xmas party; I hear MB is a lot of fun after a few pops.
thank you Tom!
Your the best Tom....
don't be a stranger. i assume the mothership does not mind if you create an anonymous account and stop by to comiserate or celebrate once in a while. maybe you don't have to be quite so cryptic, although, if you are anonymous, i wouldn't really know.
Congrats, and good luck. Hopefully you can keep up your high journalistic integrity at the world wide leader.
Thanks for all of the great work you did on mgoblog and congratulations on the position at ESPN.
You'll always be TomVH from the block to me, even if ESPN snapped you up. Congrats and good luck!
Thank you for all the work Tom. You will be missed.
We will miss you, Tom. Your knowledge, insights, and hard work have been first-rate.
Thanks for everything, and best of luck on the move to Michigan!
If you can bring to the WorldWideLeader the same quality you've brought here they will be better off for it. Thanks for all your insights and especially the dignified and respectful manner in which you seem to deal with the recruits.
Good luck at the next stop and welcome back to Michigan
Kind of a goodbye and welcome back. Weird
A TomVH: Post was always an auto click for me as well, good luck with the move, the new gig, the littleVH that's on the way, and the whole thing.
For those of us greiving MGoBoarders (Everyone), take solace. If TomVH is behind the ESPN Insider Paywall, you can get access for cheap. The best way to do it is to check sites like slickdeals.net or other sites that get deals on magazines. If you find a deal you can buy subscriptions to ESPN The Magazine for about $1/year. That's how I'm an insider.
I believe as an insider you also get access to the streaming channels (espn, 2, and U)
was done by AAAMichFan. These grievances against society will not go unpunished. You will hereby be negged and stoned throughout the rest of MGoTime. For it is written, it shall be done.
congrats tom, and i'm sad to see you go. reading your updates was definitely one of the biggest highlights of the blog. all the best in your future successes.
Cryptic Tom iz... not so cryptic.
A sincere thank you for everything you've done for us readers here at MGoBlog. ESPN is getting a bona fide workhorse and a budding star on the recruiting scene. Best of luck, Tom.
Welcome to the great state of MICHIGAN!! It's nice to see someone moving IN.
Thank you for everything you did for the site.
this is a good thing - will have two great sites to follow now.
This is worst parting since Jackie Martling left the Howard Stern show. I am sure it will work out better for you than it did for Jackie though.
For all the work you did around here.
You deserve it Tom. Congratulations.
Congrats and best of luck, Tom. Thanks for all of your great work while here at Mgoblog.
Well we will always have CC.
I always looked forward to your insight, comments and cryptic messages.
Welcome back to the age of Blimpy's, Zingerman's, Fleetwood Diner, The Ark and The Big House. Continued success in your new gig.
I love the 1 downvote this post got. Jilted lover :(
Thank you, Tom. I always appreciated the information that you provided a great deal. It definitely won't be the same here without you.
I would like to also take this opportunity to thank you for the time and dedication that you have demonstrated to this site and to Michigan Wolverines recruiting news. I was a casual fan of the Wolverines, however never had followed recruiting until I found this site and you were the bait that kept me coming back. You are a class act and I wish you the best at ESPN, and am really happy for the extra pay/benefits I am sure you will enjoy. Could not have happened to a better guy!
Tom, I'm a relatively new member here, but a life long fan of Michigan. In the short time I've been on here I have seen the respect and appreciation the members have given you as well a the relationships and trust that have been developed with each recruit. You've represented this site and Michigan well. I've looked forward to your posts and they've been insightful and respectful. Keep up the good work, good luck, and we'll miss you.
Thanks for your great posts and info, your contributions are what really got me into following recruiting.
If I happen to see you around AA, beer on me! Good luck with your new employer!
ESPN's stock just skyrocketed. Congrats and best wishes!
Congrats and good luck! You will be missed sorely around here. Hopefully, I'll get a couple glimpses through the paywall at ESPN at your work over there. Have fun.
A positive is that an even larger audience will get to hear all about the successes of Brady and Company on the recruiting trail.
God, that's depressing! But if it takes a job at ESPN to get you out of the desert and into the lovely lakes, so be it.
You've been an extraordinary part of this blog, and it's time we shared your expertise and class with the rest of the world. Hope ESPN's as good for you as you will be for them.
Best wishes, and feel free to leak any of your awesome scoops to mgoblog first in the future! ;)
...and best of luck.
Hey man, good luck ever paying for a beer in AA once people figure out who you are.
Lurk & post here when you can, TVH. You've got many friends here whose respect you have earned with your integrity and professionalism. Hit us up outside your professional life when you can and GO BLUE!
Good Luck Tom!
Your professionalism and insight were one of the best parts of the MGoBlog experience. All the best!
Thanks Tom for all your hard work. Good Luck at ESPN
Congrats. U deserve this more then any recruiting guy I know. Good luck and I may have to buy an espn subscription now.
Good luck TomVH, you were the Jordan Kovac's of the recruiting world...just wandered into our little piece of the Mgouniverse and said "I got this shit" boom instant starter.
As an aside I dont know if its my new contacts or not..but I am tearing up a little right now..
preferring to just sit back and read, but I definitely wanted to say thanks, your work was greatly appreciated, and good luck at the world wide leader!
Congratulations on the promotion.
You deserve it.
Wow, blow the man a wet kiss for us,...will ya ?
Welcome to the mitten, my friend. Hope you brought your snow pants.
Hello: TomVH (moving to Michigan)???
Congrats Tom. Good luck with the new gig.
I/we appreciate all you have done and will do.
Tom it's been a great time reading your posts and following the recruiting. You've put out a lot of great info, good luck at ESPN and hope to see you on the website/tb soon!
Thank you Tom, and good luck. We will miss you here.
You being at ESPN might make getting insider worth it! Thanks for everything Tom.
...spoiled, having you with us here at MGoBlog. Congrats on a well deserved promotion and thanks for the countless hours and time put into helping make MGoBlog what it's become. I'm sure we're in good hands going into the future but your contributions will be missed.
Good luck and Go Blue!
Thanks for everything Tom. Best of luck at ESPN and welcome back to Michigan!
Thanks for all the hours you put in to feed my passion for the Maize and Blue. Have a safe drive home!
Thanks for all the updates Tom! Don't forget to come back and visit (even if it's to promote your new digs). Best of luck and Go Blue!
Thank you for everything you have done for all of us who tune into MGoBlog. You have really provided me with good knowledge and insight on recruiting and helped me provide better insight to all the Michigan haters here in the south. Good luck at ESPN, I may even subscribe now.
Thanks for your hard work here! Good luck at ESPN!
Congrats on the new job Tom and thanks again for everything you've done here at MGoBlog. And one last time:
dude, this is awesome. couldn't be more applicable...
dude, this is awesome. couldn't be more applicable...
dude, this is awesome. couldn't be more applicable...
You'll certainly be missed.. though we all know you'll still be lurking if not actively present (or at least I'll try to convince myself of that!).
Congrats on the move!
for everything you've done. You were always Priority 1 read on here. Good luck in your new position, the move and everything - well deserved.
This is a sad day. I come to this site for many reasons, but TomVH was definitely one of the main reasons, if not the main reason.
Good luck to you and your family Tom. I'm glad we got the chance to say our farwells. Thanks for everything that you did for this community.
ESPN did well .. good luck!!
Good luck and congrats on the ESPN gig and moving back to Michigan. I've enjoyed all you've done for us. Thank you.
Thanks for all your hard work and insight! Looking forward to your posts over at ESPN!
Thank you so much Tom. I stumbled on this blog sometime ago and never looked back! I will miss the anticipation on a TomVH post. Best of luck to you at ESPN. At least youre coming back to the Murder Mitten! Drive Safe!
Thanks for all you have done and what you will undoubtedly continue to do at ESPN!
Thanks for all you've done for this blog and its readers Tom.
Hopefully, you can still drop in and talk with us some time. Not necessarily about recruiting, but just about Michigan football or life in general.
You going to ESPN is probably the only thing that could've convinced me to get an insider membership.
Congrats and good luck!!!
i say goodbye, thank you, and good luck
Tom, will miss your valuable information and frequent scoops. A class act all the way.
Can you tell us a bit more about your new gig at ESPN? Most importantly when we might expect to see your first content published?
I suspect that there will be a link on the mgoboard approximately 5 mgoseconds (which are shorter than regular seconds) after it is published.
...and of course thank you Tom for all of your handwork and great articles!
I didn't have a lot of time to get to know you but I've appreciated all the hard work, info and crypticism. Best wishes to you at ESPN and with your wife and JuniorVH.
thank you for all of the quality reporting and information. ESPN most definitely nabbed a *5-star recruit in my book!
Best to you and your family on this new adventure!!
I'll be in Michigan soon, so maybe I'll see you tomurrow.
ALL THE RECRUITS ARE GONNA DIE!!!!
OK, maybe not. But thanks for doing a 24/7 job with class, and in a way that did Michigan proud, in the dirt sandwich world that is recruiting.
Great work and well deserved thanks Tom!
Good luck with your new job.
best of luck with the new gig. You can always come back, if it doesn't work out!
I appreciate all your hard work and all the info you provided us starving recruiting geeks !
Best of luck going forward !
Tom, thank you so much! I will continue to follow you at espn and on twitter as you are one of he only people i trust with information about michigan recruiting. The new Mgoblog writers will have huge shoes to fill and I will miss coming onto this site and getting very excited to see one of your updates.
Hope your move goes well and Congrats on you new opportunity, you deserve it and more.
Thanks again to everyone.
One Last Time
congrats sir, always nice to see good hard work pay off
..but thanks Tom. Your work here was great and will be missed.
Good luck on the move and I'm sure you will be successful at ESPN.
for all that you have done keeping me/us inform. Look forward to catching up with you at your next gig....GO BLUE!
WHat exactly is TOm going to do at ESPN? This confuses me since he now works for espn but says he will still cover Michigan recruiting. Is there some puzzle piece i'm missing?
Good luck though Tom! ESPN's recruiting service is my least favorite of the big 3-4 but if they start hiring guys like TOm it will definitely shoot up in quality.
