Even Chuck Norris defers expertise to TomVH.
We do the Hoke-y Pokey cause he'll turn this team around. That's what it's all about.
Tom is like EF Hutton - when he talks, people listen.
Disgruntled former moderator. I got a lot of problems with you people!
Soooo....? You're telling me there's a chance?
"Don't stop Believin"
how much thunder did you just leave Antonio? some people

Great news Tom, thanks for the update. Can anyone imagine a class of Poole, Jones, and Willingham? Yikes, im excited for the defensive unit.

MUAHAHAHAHA! MUAHAHAHA!
This morning Sam Webb said he was getting a gut feeling on this one....
HAIL.
Tune in doesn't sound all that cryptic to me!!!
but I have to -1 you because if you do not have your secret decoder Tom VH ring yet, you should not ask questions. Tom is the man and he NEVER says anything out of turn nor betrays the trust given to him by his peeps. A professional for sure.
From the Red Cedar Message Board: "God hates us." Yes He does Lil Bro, yes he does. Everyone hates you.
Bravin the malware storm as well, I see. Well this is very exciting news. Looks like Mattison's recruiting record was all it was cracked up to be..and then some. Scout's reporting some....very positive news regarding Poole

Gobluewolverine has a commited LB but not showing a name. Cold it be Poole ? If not Willingham tonight , Poole tomorrow ? All the suspense. Regardless go blue !
Scout's mystery LB commit is a four star....any other four star LB recruits (on scout) you think committed?

Boom goes the dynamite. Mattison is going to have this defense back in no time.
Modern-day Midas. Any defender he talks to turns to gold... er... maize...
A little bit of both from what I can tell. Let's go with WOMAN...
Due to slight androgyny above, coming in with cat to close the deal:

They take no prisoners. Hope we get Poole. AL Golden , payback is a. Well we know the saying. Karma is awesome ! GO BLUE !
OK, no doubt I like getting commits from good players, but this better mean that Beyer is NOT a LB and hopefully means that Frank Clark will play TE.
I know you can never have too many good linebackers, but 5 in one class is a lot.
You have been quite the negative nancy today.
Most Impressive: Has Excellent Ball Skills.
Not at all. I like all of the linebackers we've got or are likely to get. It just seems like we're really loading up on one position group, something you don't see schools do too often.
THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT. But there has to be a reason that this staff wants to sign 5 LBs in one class. Is it because one of them projects at another position? Is it because they think one might not commit or might decommit? Is it because they don't like our current LBs? Do they expect to run more of a 3-4? I would have answered no to all of these questions myself, so I'm not sure why.
Last year the only LB we signed was Jake Ryan. A lot of our other depth at this position are guys who have been converted to this position. So going a little heavy maybe a result of our current staff seeing a glaring need at this position. That would mean answering yes to your 3rd question.
That's fair, although I do believe Furman was brought in as a LB. And since Mike Jones, Cam Gordon and Isaiah Bell all redshirted, they'll all be sophomores at LB this fall.
Is the staff looking at lining up a bigger front 7 as well? Maybe some of these cats who were safeties in high school will have their transition to LB halted... and will become large, hard hitting safeties. Then again, Isaiah Bell looks to be 245 lbs and ready to wreck opposing RBs. Regardless, I am excited to see some depth at LB again. The glory days of Jarrett Irons, Dhani Jones and Larry Foote are upon us once again! All hail Mattison. All hail Blue!
Fanatic since 1978. Internet tough guy since 2012.
That could be, and I would like that a lot (I'd throw Victor Hobson into that group, he was my favorite UM LB). However, guys like Mike Jones, Cam Gordon and Furman are at LB more because of their skill set than their size, since none of those three are too big to play safety. But safety is still a defensive back, and those guys play more like linebackers.
With all of these LBs now, I wouldn't mind seeing one of those three guys moved back to (or kept at?) strong safety. Maybe Furman since he has the speed.
If you look at what Mattison has run in the past, it's more of a 3-4. They're calling it a 4-3, but that one DE plays like an OLB. Terrell Suggs is listed as an OLB for Baltimore, even though he's basically a defensive end.
Agreed I like whaqt we're getting but I was hoping we might get Barnett a 6'6" 245 lb 4* TE and a DT like Cooper since we're really light in these areas.

At no point did I say I don't think Poole or we shouldn't have offered him or anything like that. It just sounded a lot like we'd get Clark and Willingham and most, myself included, thought we'd be done at LB after that.
Poole gives us 15 commits. Clark and Willingham put us at 17, Bryant and Rawls put us at 19. If 20 is our number, which seems to be the concensus, then we have one spot left and more than one guy considering us. Jake Fisher, Bellomy the QB, Darian Cooper, McClure (who I know is a longshot), as well as a TE and DE recruit who are considering us will only have one spot between them all.
True, but we don't really know if every scholarship player will retain his scholarship next year. Perhaps there are more spots available than we think there are. In any case, I'd rather have too many linebackers than too many slot receivers.
What do you mean by "if every player will retain his scholarship next year?" Do you anticipate massive attrition? I know it's possible but I'm sure the coaches aren't banking on that happening.
Gibbons getting his scholly pulled. We shouldn't have 2 kickers on scholarship in back to back classes.
He only got the job because he's a Michigan Man not because he was the best. Is that what Michigan is all about? You do the best, you get the job. This MM meme is crap.
