TomVH: LB Antonio Poole

Submitted by TomVH on
Michigan coaches just left Ohio LB Antonio Poole's house. Mattison was the main man here. Antonio has now decided that he will make his announcement tomorrow at his school. You might want to tune in for it.

True, but we don't really know if every scholarship player will retain his scholarship next year. Perhaps there are more spots available than we think there are. In any case, I'd rather have too many linebackers than too many slot receivers.

I am hoping that they don't pull his schollie.  That is not what I expect out of this staff.  I would hope that Gibbons sees Wile coming in as a serious threat and he either picks up his kicking game or decides that things did not work out for him here and he takes his talent somewhere else.

There is a good chance Mike Williams gets a medical scholarship, freeing one up. With all of his concussions, he likely won't play again according to many reports. Also, there are some walk-ons who received scholarships that may not keep them with exception to Kovacs. Watson may not return for a 5th year, and I am sure there are others in the same boat. The actual number of spots we have could be a bit higher, maybe even close to a full class when all is said and done.

Trust me, after watching these last 3 years I don't mind stockpiling defensive players. The part that I'm a little curious about, with some big names in the mix and only a couple spots left - Does this say we don't really have a chance with McClure, Fisher, Raven, Bellomy, Cooper, Brandon Alexander, Chris Barnett, etc...

Just a bit worried about the offensive neglect. We saw that neglect to one side of the ball can have ill effects. I think our O is good for this year and probably the next as is. Just like to see spots filled in for the future I guess instead of future holes like our DT situation behind Mike Martin (Dear BWC - Get your shit together please).

I guess I'll just subscribe to defense wins championships...GO BLUE

It's a lot sure, but these are some pretty good players we're bringing in here. Frank Clark is too small to play TE, period. If we put him there, we're squandering his potential at LB. I don't think Beyer was ever seriously considered a LB, that was just a rumor. Especially not in the 4-3

He's as tall yes, but Keller makes up for his lack of size with superior athleticism and outstanding blocking ability. Clark may be good, but I doubt he has the size/athleticism combo Keller has. Keller's a one-in-a-million kind of TE. Additionally, he's about 45 pounds short of Keller. At LB, he can probably play weakside at somewhere between 225-230. At TE, he'd need to get up to around 240-250. That could seriously handicap his athleticism.

Well that's good. So what happens with Frank Clark and the decommit from TAMU, I forgot his name? Can we get all three or is it two of the three only?
