TomVH: Kevin Sousa Update
Kevin Sousa is a 6-foot-2, 213-pound dual threat quarterback from Orlando. He was recently in touch with Rod Smith, and found out that Coach Smith will be down to see him this spring.
One of the first things Kevin said to me was, "I really like Michigan." He's going to try to make it up for a camp, but needs to check with his coach first.
Here's his newest highlight film.
UPDATE:
Here's a little more. He just sent me an email with more concrete info.
- He just attended USF's junior day, and is going to Miami and FIU with his qb coach, Coach Paradiso.
- He's visiting Florida on April 18th.
- Then flying out to Ohio State and Alabama for the Elite 11 QB camp, and Nike football camps at both schools.
- Kevin has only been playing football for 2 years, so coach Paradiso is a big influence on his development, and where he goes to college.
- His coach told him that he's a perfect fit for a Michigan, West Virginia, or an Oregon offense.
- Kevin has talked with his coach, and they both think that Michigan is at the top of the list.
- He said, "If Michigan offers, it would be hard not to accept it."
Maybe we could use him, and put Denard as a WR but occasionally put him as QB.
denard at wr?
thats genius
Like RichRod said, "Once you know QB, you know every position."
Haha, yeah, I laughed when he said that. I was picturing Denard winning the Kicker position battle that's going on. :)
As a band geek I fully support the signing of this kid.
(For not band geeks: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Philip_Sousa )
as much as i like it, i have a feeling this joke will get very old very quickly
Sousa once famously said that The Victors is "the greatest college fight song ever written."
Which duh. But still, kinda cool.
I'm a big fan of his phone.
Jarrett Brown 2.0.
Kid looks good. I would love to see him go blue.

Sounds like we should find out sometime in the spring, whether or not he'll get offered.
Is there any reason that you believe we wouldn't end up offering this kid? He looks more than athletic enough to be moved to another position if QB doesn't pan out. What are your thoughts?
Edit: This is from a little while back, but I haven't seen it anywhere on the boards.
great news tom and just think of the competition at the Qb position there would be with Foricer, Robinson, Gardner, and Sousa! I would feel comfortable with a backup in.
As always, thanks for the update Tom!
