TomVH: Justice Hayes Update

Wanted to post this separately so everyone saw it. RB Justice Hayes has decommitted from Notre Dame. He's now considering Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Michigan.

I spoke to him briefly about it, and he said that Michigan is in it for him. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee get him either, though since DeAnthony Arnett is his friend.

Did you get any sense of what in the world caused this?

I can't confirm this

but heard that he went to the Utah game and "....didin't feel the love" from the ND coaching staff.  Kelly caught wind of it and let Hayes know that Kelly didn't appreciate that attitude.

This is all rumor, but I wanted to pass it on.

Is he serious?

That sounds like a 12 year old who slips up and gets defensive about it...

It took a moment before I realized she was toying with a god damned snake.

That's going to leave 'em guessing.

WTF?

I guess they have a different idea of scarves down there.

Guys, if you are going to stare at a girl, make sure she doesn't have a snake around her neck and she isn't from Tennessee.

Since it's not likely he'll

Since it's not likely he'll end up at ND or MSU (or another team we regularly play), this seems to be a win regardless -- though, I think the M coaches would take him in a second.

Arnett

I have heard how he and Arnett are close, Arnett mentioned that he had know for a month that he was going to Tennessee, wonder why Justice is just now decommitting.  Maybe Arnett has been working on him for a month or so, getting him to check them out and come with him.  Justice would be a bigger get for Tennessee, not as deep as we are at RB.

I read on the Tennessee scout

I read on the Tennessee scout board that there was a mystery visitor in Knoxville a couple of weeks ago, and they think it might have been him. Any validity to this, as far as you know?

Tom-- Kris Frost

I guess he didn't commit. Damn. I'd ask for a Frost update but we all know it's coming. Appreciate your hard work, Tom.

Kris wants to announce at whatever all-star/all-american whatever game he's playing in, but since he's enrolling early, he'll probably silent commit before that. Not saying he did, but if he did commit, we wouldn't know for a while anyway

That's right

I forgot. Thanks. Just a bit worried since he still has an official at Auburn left before deciding. The real wild card for Frost might be the NCAA.

He probably could, but we're recruiting him for RB. From his Rivals profile:

Hayes is very versatile and could player defensive back, wide receiver or running back at the next level.

ND

ND is bleeding recruits right now.  I haven't been keeping track but haven't they lost 3-4 commits over the last couple of months?   Also, I'm surprised that State isn't listed as one of Hayes' final choices.   I thought they were a favorite prior to him declaring for ND.

Would be great to get him

...but I wonder if M won't be better off with Rawls as the 2nd RB in the class (if he can qualify).

Rawls over Hayes?

From what I can tell Hayes is a better back and a better fit for our offense.

I don't know

Hart already gives them a quick, smallish back who darts around.  Rawls add a guy who's a bit of a bowling ball into the mix.

Tennessee is a proud program

Knoxville is just about 100% orange on Saturdays, from what I'm told, and the stadium seats almost as much as the Big House.  Obviously I would choose Michigan but I'm sure that Tennessee can give a kid an impressive visit.

WRONG

Tennessee is not Michigan therefore they are inferior.

was that with Tee Martin?

whatever happened with him?

also I'm thinking Justice would rather be the next Arian Foster than the next Mike Hart.

Tee

Was with the Steelers for a while, never panned out in NFL.  Looked like he was going into UFL or something equivelent, now with Kentucky as previously posted as the wide receiver coach.

Kind of surprised seeing ND

Kind of surprised seeing ND lose so many recruits considering they have been hovering around this mediocre level for most of the decade.  Apparently Kelly must be rubbing these kids the wrong way.  I doubt Hayes will come to UM (wouldn't mind if he did) and will probably wind up in Knoxville, but if he does go blue that would make one stacked backfield.

ND class?

With kids decommitting from ND for FSU and maybe UT, it looks like their recruiting class is going South at a very fast rate.

Instate kids

A lot of kids prefer to stay closer to home. If that is the criterion, then certainly we have a great chance at landing him.

If he grows up to be a leader on defense/ offense, I'm gonna call it the Justice League of Hayes.

BTW - Sweet Justice on ND.

It's like Kelly(OREGON) said

"We recruited you for speed." That is what is most relevant when it comes to deciding who should and who shouldn't get the offer. When all else is equal, I do like a big back, i.e.,  Hopkings, but working in space is so very important in this offense and we want backs that we can use a lot on the screen plays, which opens up an already scary offense even further.

Once we get two, three deep as to solid D1 talent, we'll explore the option of the WVU like FB. In the meantime, I'm thinking Justice would be very high on our list.
