TomVH: Just a Heads Up **A little more**

Submitted by TomVH on

I'm not saying this is 100%, so don't take it that way. There's a chance that Wayne Morgan might not announce tomorrow, though. I said awhile ago that I knew his coaches weren't happy that some of the information being reported about him came out so fast.

They've wanted him to wait, and wanted him to take his visits this whole time. His coach is talking to him tonight to see what he wants to do. I'll let you know when I hear something. As of now the announcement is still on, but could change.

***EDIT***: Just got a text from Wayne that said he probably is going to hold off on the announcement. We'll see what happens, if he decides to do it tomorrow or wait. I'll keep you updated.

Interesting, I don't know, his coaches seem to like Michigan, but they want him to take all his visits? with Richardson and Gant in the fold, and Standifer visiting today and nearing a desicion I wouldn't think is wise to wait that much, if Standifer pulls the trigger it'd become a race for the last spot, just my 2 cents anyways....

I doubt his coaches know anything about what DBs may or may not commit to Michigan in the mean time. I like that they're hoping he'll take all of his visits, it sounds like they're just trying to look out for him amongst all the recruiting hoop-lah

Let the kid do this on his own terms when he feels ready.  And don't get on him for possibly being too quick to act-- after all, if any of us were lucky enough to accept a football scholarship to UM, we'd probably jump the gun before talking it over with family and coaches.

Take your time, young man-- your winged helmet isn't going anywhere.

but I wouldn't care what my HS football coach thought.  I have to make the decision for myself as it is about my future.  My family would get to voice their opinion as they will always be part of my life.  I couldn't care less what my HS football coach thought about where I should go to college.

You rant just the way an obsessed college football fan would.

You're not in Morgan's position, don't know the relationship with his coach, and really are not sounding like anything but a misguided, spoiled Message Board Idiot.

It's the KID'S life, not your sorry ass quiet desperation.

I agree entirely with what you're saying, but I'd like to add that from Michigan's perspective, it's probably better that he doesn't commit and have second thoughts later. It leaves the coaches in limbo so far as knowing whether or not this kid is going to stay committed and it leaves potential recruits/commits at a distance because of spot limitations. I don't think we're going to have a problem filling spots, but I do think it's better for both parties to go about it this way so that Wayne can be 100% sure he wants to be a Wolverine. I'm still confident that, in the end, he will go Blue. This is an important decision for Wayne and his family; he should take all the time he needs.

I really hope he announces tomorrow for a recruiting birthday present. And if he does announce tomorrow, maybe he can hold up this jersey (because it's the only day he can do it).

seriously everyone. I hope you're all joking. I have no issue with coaches of a particular kid urging him to look around and make sure he's picking the right fit for him. there's nothing worse than either a) a kid picking a place becuase he coaches are steering him that way. or B) a kid not doing his due dilligence and not picking the right school for him putting himself in a difficult spot and the school.

Take your time and make the right decision for you Mr. Morgan.

There was a pic of him in a Michigan hat.  I think we'll be fine here.  Who can out recruit our coaches at this point?  Anyone with a white envelope filled with cash, and that's it.

If I was coaching a top level recruit I would probably try to get him to hold off a bit too.  Don't get me wrong, if his heart is completely set on coming to Michigan and he knows for a fact he isn't going anywhere else then I would love for him to commit to Michigan (if he's leaning Rutgers than I really hope he waits), but way back when committments used to mean that a player was committed and wasn't going anywhere else.  Today, it often means "hey, I'm like 75% probably going to go there."  There is nothing wrong with taking your time, seeing some other places, and making sure you have the best place for you if you are a recruit.

Here's to hoping Michigan is the right place for him in the end regardless.

I completely understand Morgan wanting to hold off, but if Armani Reeves and Standifer commit, I just can't see us taking a 5 DB as we have too many other holes to fill (OL, DT, WR). Again, no criticism of Morgan's decision, but schollie situation is very important factor here.
