TomVH: DT Jarron Jones Offered

Submitted by TomVH on

Big time New York defensive tackle Jarron Jones (6'6", 305 lbs) was just offered by Michigan. He has offers now from Michigan, Alabama, Florida State, and North Carolina to name a few. I talked to him about the offer, and it seems like it's all too early in the process for him to really have a set plan.

Michigan is a big offer for me. Coach Mallory called my coach and told him that they were offering. I'm going to probably take visits over spring break and the summer. I'm just trying to take it all in right now, if I end up feeling comfortable somewhere then I'll make a decision. I don't really have a timeline right now. I grew up watching some Michigan games, watching Mike Hart and Chad Henne, so I know about Michigan.

Jarron is going to try to make it up to Michigan for a visit, but doesn't have any dates set in stone yet.

His junior film is here.

A friend of mine who follows OSU recruiting religiously said that someone on a Buckeye site asked the mods why Michigan would offer Bri'onte Dunn (spelling?) when they know that he's solid for OSU.  The mods on the site said that the offer was made to bolster the Michigan brand, i.e., to show other recruits that a Michigan offer is something that goes to elite players.

According to ESPN we have offered 22 of their 150 watch list. It does seem as though Hoke and company are going after the higher ranked players no matter where they are or who's interested in them. Seems like a good plan to me. Go Blue!

Most highlight vids I have trouble picking the dude out unless he has an arrow over his head. I didnt need any help finding him on here. This cat in his 3-point is a foot taller than everybody else. Wait, should I be saying 3 point after last night?

... how many of these kids would land up in Michigan.

I am not saying that we don't have a chance or that Michigan isn't a marketeable brand but what is the likelyhood of landing them.

I mean ... CMU could offer all 5 star kids - how many would actually choose to go there.
