TomVH: Desmond Morgan Commits

Submitted by TomVH on

LB Desmond Morgan just committed to Michigan. He called the coaches about an hour ago and told them he's a wolverine.

There's nothing like the Big House. I had a great time on the visit, had some time to spend with the players and coaching staff more. The players and coaches are all great guys and good people. It was a tough decision, and I thought about it all day yesterday and today. I called Coach Rodriguez and told him if the opportunity is still there I'd like to join the family, and he said of course.

Morgan had an offer from Northwestern as well.

This kid went to my high school, and i knew he was going to Michigan once i found out that he grew up a fan. Not suprised about this commit. But you can say that this kid will be a great contributor to the football team. He's fast, big, and a hard hitter. He seems to know where the ball is too. WE need more like him.

4 years ago, this thread would have been littered with "3 STAR LB RECRUIT?!?!" as well as your standard "YES!!! WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!!!" type of posts.

Now?  Just the latter.  The times have changed.

Welcome Desmond, we clearly want and need you at Michigan.

If people did that 8 years ago, they'd have been doing it about 3-star LB recruit David Harris...

or 6 years ago, it'd have been 3-star RB Mike Hart.

This is why the star ratings aren't as important as what the coaches see, and what they can do with each player's strengths.

Welcome, Desmond.

DUSN'T RECROOT MITCHIGAN KIDS! DANTONIA OWNZ IN-STATES

Seriously though, TheWolverine and GoBlueWolverine have yet to break this story. TomVH and MGoBlog win again. Why does those people pay for that info again?

"There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as being a LB and simply messing about in backfields. Inside or outside, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get a strip, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at the quarterback or whether you blow up the pass, or whether they never get anywhere at all, you're alway s hitting people, and you never do anything but hit people; and when you've done it there's always someone else to hit, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much prefer open-field tackles for loss."

With apologies to Mr. Grahame

besides Dee Hart, is the commit of the class. Des Morgan will be a helluva good LB for Michigan.  Guys, he's a seriously underrated prospect. This kid has nothing but upside. I've watched him play, have talked to a bunch of mutual acquaintances - he is going to be a major contributor.

Welcome Des. Make West Ottawa proud.
