Just got a text from DeAnthony, the official time for his press conference is 7pm on Wednesday, at Saginaw High in the media center.
Peppers at 10, which seems low.
any idea where he's leaning, or if it at least looks more positive for certain schools than others?
Almost every rumor I heard today has him going to Tennessee...
I also heard rumors that he was in Idaho on Saturday. So there's that.
I get the feeling that this kid is enjoying his recruitment and loving every minute of this. Good for him, bad for all the "insiders" who think they have breaking information.
He was at the Michigan game. There were pictures and everything -- I think he tweeted about a surprise visit to Boise State, but that was a joke.
He was in Michigan gear watching the craziest game in the history of the Big House.
I have absolutely no information, but if it's not us then I hope it's someone outside the B10 (or at least not MSU).
I'm fine if Tom knows something but doesn't want to hint, we'll find out where he's going shortly enough and he deserves his time in the spotlight.
Everybody who sees a DeAnthony Arnett commit on Wednesday say Yeah!
Altough it looks good that he visited us last, and had a good time. I think we would need some serious snake oil to pull this one out.
The last visit recruiting heuristic here gives me a wee bit of hope
I WANT THE GOLD.
Expecting the worst, hoping for the best...
Michigan Football 2008 - 2010, ladies and gentlemen!
In 48 hours for the pos bang
No doubt we all hope you're right, but without a little substantiation of your prediction, I doubt anyone will credit you with anything other than a lucky guess.
That ain't no prediction. That's what it's gonna be.
Vicky Valencourt is not the debil!
And she showed me her boobies, and I like them too!
YOU CAN DO IT!!!
I'm always up for a good pos bang. You got one coming your way if your right. This may not have the drama of a Raback, but i'm a sucker for predictions.
That Raback prediction was epic. Ever since then, I've referred to recruiting predictions/guarantees as "Raback-ing it."
Also, your avatar is intriguing.
I don't think i was a member of our lovely little bipolar menagerie when this Raback was originally posted. Fill me in, please.
He had a source that let him know that Demar Dorsey was coming to Michigan. We said if he didn't it would be a neg bang for the ages. I also believe Megan Fox was in play on this bet as well. Anyhow is handle was Raback. Demar committed to Michigan pos bang ensued and the angry Michigan secondary gods pissed on our parade.
wish i could have been there. Now, will someone explain the downfall of em0.
is that you?
That guy was crazy about depth charts, posting them years in advance with potential recruits and whatnot. There was a new one practically every day, and he would neg you if you criticized the concept of future depth charts or his projections. Then he'd get banned and come back with a slightly different username but the same posts and comments like "who's em0?"
Eventually I think his depth chart analysis became similar to the computer in War Games playing tic-tac-toe, and his brain just exploded (at least that's how I like to imagine it).
When I first joined there was another guy that had been banned and kept returning under different names and asking about himself. I cna't remember what his original name was, but everytime anyone would ask about him everyone would assume it was him re-incarnate.
I think we need a "The last few years of MGoBlog..." post that recaps all this nonsense... because it's quite funny. THere may already be something in the User Curated HOF, not sure.
I think it was McFarlin. All I remember was wondering who he was but being too afraid to ask.
Technically, Dorsey didn't come to Michigan (though he wanted to).
Your post history looks interesting, seems like you might have some inside connection. If you're right I'll give you the Raback treatment :)
Are you willing to Raback it?
I don't need to see another high profile commitment only to have the kid not clear U of M admissions.
If he is wrong does that count as a bannable action?
And here I was worried someone would be ambiguous about their opinion/knowledge....
and will likely cost me an angioplasty by age 45, but my gut is also saying we've got a damn good shot at this kid. The timing, his original interest in the school, the investigation concluded and RR's job appearing to be safe for another season all were part of his reasons to not seriously consider us. Then, he simply came to the craziest game ever.
Agreed that snake oil must flow, but I have a good feeling about a commit.
I wonder what kind of impact a DA commit would have on Sammy Watkins...
Kids like this love the attention, most of the time they have been the center of attention for years because of their skill and they just love everylittle piece of attention they can get. I'm not saying that DeAnthony is this type of kid or anything but I'm just saying don't get your hopes up because of that.
If he is one of the kids who love attention who you're describing, then he's either trolling our blog right now laughing his ass of at us for getting our hopes up, or he's trolling our blog right now to see how excited we are for his commitment, and after seeing your comment he's a little upset at you stereotyping him into a kid who loves attention... either way, bad.
Remember this is a kid who came on a surprise visit this weekend. Sam Webb said in his Recruiting Roundup on WTKA today that the reason he didn't announce he was coming was because he wanted to let the coaches know he was sincere in his interest and wasn't using Michigan to add hype to his signing announcement.
I know you made it clear you weren't implying this, but just wanted to put any thought about that being what this is to rest. Now everyone can get their hopes up.
It could be that I want him to come really bad, but that logic is 100% legit to me, and I am now convinced he is going blue.
Well, and Tom can correct me if I'm wrong, but it could be that Arnett texted Tom with this info because Tom texted him first saying "Please let me know when you have decided when you'll be announcing your commitment" and Arnett simply replied.
Although I agree with your second bullet.
You took all my optimism away
Oops, I meant "woohoo he's totally blue fer sure!!!!!11!!1!"
If so inclined, you might add to that list the factor that Roy Roundtree broke Michigan receiving records, thereby undercutting the cliche that 'you won't get recognized as a receiver in RR's offense.'
He didn't visit MSU?
I would love to see him pick the Maize n Blue, if we aren't the choice please go out west and NO SPARTY. If I remember correctly, he went sour on us because of the perception that we 'Don't Throw'. Well, he couldn't have been at a better game to dispel those thoughts...GO BLUE
While we speak RR is busy whipping up a batch extra powerful snake oil. I have a good feeling about this. Go Blue Mr. Arnett!!!
that we're talking about snake oil before we kill the 'stache this coming week?
LMAO if we "snake oil" a kid the week after RR sets a record and just before we destroy PurDon't!
Timing is everything and I think seeing that game in person could have done a ton for a talented young kid who just wants the ball.
I can see him being attracted to a school with the most dynamic QB in the NCAA who happens to be a sophomore, and offense that just destroyed a top 15 defense. Oh, and we have DG waiting to step in... Looks pretty rosy to me..
In two days at the DeAnthony "Decision" ........
I will be taking my talents... to Ann Arbor.
Do you know anything about Joe Kerridge?http://mgorecruit.blogspot.com/
were CAL, USC, and Michigan.
Now I am not him, but why would he choose USC when they have a new coach and are under major sanctions from the NCAA?
CAL? Well CAL is a good academic school, but no better than Michigan. And they are certainly not very competitive in the PAC 10 or BCS.
UM? UM has great academics, has 3 great quarterbacks, an offensive genius coach, and is a 2 hour drive away from home.
To me, this choice is a no-brainer.
DeAnthony, Go Blue!
That analysis is appropriate for determining who his 3rd place school is. His top two are believed to be MSU and TN.
That was before his eyes were opened to Michigan's down field passing attack.
Michigan's downfield passing attack moved Cal and USC in front of MSU and TN? That's wierd.
Cal blogs told me that Arnett eliminated Cal. But they also say he's down to MSU, Tennessee, and USC:
"He has eliminated Cal and is down to USC, Tennessee and Michigan State," DeAnthony's brother Ralph Arnett said. "Right now, DeAnthony is pretty confident in his decision but hasn't told any of us yet and I don't even know what he's going to do."
That stuff is almost a week old. No one even knew UM was in the picture 6 days ago, other than Deanthony and whatever insiders he told. Perhaps it was UM all along and the recent visit confirmed it for him.
If we don't get him, I will wish him good luck in the future. Surely the game had an effect on his decision, but if not then maybe it had a positive effect on sammy watkins who has us currently on the top of his list with Clemson. I see us getting atleast one of the two WR's and both of them would definitely boost our 2011 class ratings.
Was it already known that he would be announcing in this general timeframe (early nov-ish)?
Or was it just recently known that he would make his announcement just days after a surprise visit to M to see one of the craziest games ever?
I would think the answer to that question could possibly be telling...
He had said before the visit that he was likely going to be making his decision around this time.
It was said that RR recruits harder in other states and not in his own back yard....just from having my ear to the ground...He will not be a wolverine...just based on RR not going harder after Michigan (in State) recruits....MSU
you are kidding, right. Where did you hear this from? So, based on where ever you got your info, you think he will go to MSU.
Did your ear to the ground tell you that Michigan never stopped recruiting him and that was the reason for his visit? Hey it may not happen, but Michigan can and Rod will look nationwide for good recruits and this time the good recruit was in Michigan.
And who was this "it" that said this? C'mon facts here buddy....Cough up your sources SPARTY!
I think you're confusing "ear to the ground" with "head in the sand".
Yipee, another WR
Seriously, it's nice if he comes here and all. But Michigan's offense is locked and loaded. I'll get excited for a 5 - star defensive back. Or even a 4 star.
... a picture of Tom Brady?
Wait, what? Really? Oh, man, what the hell is he thinking.
Oh, wait, college players leave after 3 or 4 years.
Why doesn't someone reach out and ask THE_KNOWLEDGE. I'm sure he already knows. Maybe he'd be willing to share that with us. I like that our visit was only 4 days before his announcement. I think it puts us in a good position unless he is such a heavy lean toward USC or MSU that even a great weekend couldn't sway him.
Of course he knows what happens. THE_KNOWLEDGE knows who we get in the 2014 Class.
I agree with Justin Beaver.
Look at it this way: By the time DeAnthony is up to speed with the offense, and had some real time with Barwis, three of our best wideouts will be gone. There is no guarantee that last year's haul will pan out, so you gotta take him. Also, you don't say no to 5 star players.
Hope he's Blue!
I'm not sure how significant this is really but after checkin out his twitter account after hearin about these claims about being in idaho, boise, and alabama within 24 hours I saw this tweet from november 3rd.
"IM WEARING NUMBER #1 IN COLLEGE ITS OFFICIAL"
no ones worn the #1 at michigan in a while, and I'm not sure how significant that number is to other teams at the wide receiver position as it is at michigan. Just saying, plus having visited michigan right after that.
Or i may just be too optimistic by it
Why. Because tom has not commented once on this thread or the inital thread about our chances. When Tom feels like we got no shot, he usually states so and answers questions in the thread. that is not happening here. He is always very respectful of how recruits wan their decisions to be known and never leaks early information unless the recruit wants him to. Quiet Tom = Hopeful me.
Plus. He was a Michigan fan growing up! You can't ignore that as being a huge factor no matter what recruits say.
On this post,
Tom's post is 1/3 down from the top. He thinks that Arnett, Walls, and Zettel will not go to MSU. Some sparty lover was making claims that all 3 may go to MSU.
So, there may be hope for Arnett, but at least he won't be Sparty.
If that #1 jersey comment is true, I'd say there's no way RR makes that promise to a kid when he hasn't earned it yet. Sounds like a Kiffin move. We have kids busting their asses and trying to win for last couple years and you think a hs kid gets promised that jersey? No way. Especially when Roy just said he wants it, but knows he has to earn it.
okay everybody if this kid comes to mich it will be as big as Demar Dorsey, (wish he was Here) cause it seemed like Mich was the last school on his mind I mean he never talked about Mich bein in the runing or acted like he was seriously interested, it seems like he thinks he's to big for Mich, like he has to go someway and be that teams "Shoelace" I tell ya what !!!!!! if he comes to Mich I'll do somethin that makes me sick I'll sing the Suckeye Battle Cry in my office in front of the whole Floor...I hope im wrong cause there gonna look at me like im crazy
@DArnett13: Sorry I couldnt wait for 2moro I want to thank all coaches for offering me! My skool is.... http://twitvid.com/9VYRK
He could be joking, it's hard to tell.
