TomVH: DE Max Issaka Offered and More

Submitted by TomVH on

Just spoke to New Jersey DE Max Issaka (6'3", 240 lbs), and he told me Michigan offered him yesterday. He's not sure if he's going to visit or not yet. I'll keep you updated.

3 Star Ohio TE Jamare Mills (6'5", 244 lbs) was contacted by Michigan. He's calling them back later today. They haven't offered, but want him to visit.

**Michigan is also targeting 3 Star Texas DE Brandon Alexander (6'6", 230 lbs). I don't know if Michigan has offered yet. He's a transplant from Louisiana, which bodes well with Fred Jackson's connections.

(I'll try to keep updating this thread as I get more info)

Your right on the one hand, to temper the feelings until actual results come out on LOI day.

Your wrong if you mean to say that Hoke hasn't been doing anything noteworthy thus far regarding recruiting. As of his hire, there were a little over three weeks left and Hoke has been stirring the interest pot quite a bit. Case in point: A 4* LB, committed to a school already, spurns a visit to that school to visit UM. The renewed, and completely new, interest in UM by several highly rated prospects is a good sign for being optomistic about the recruiting finish for this year, and next year.

You did state that we need to wait until LOI day, which is true, but it is also true that Hoke is generating interest in UM football amongst players that wasn't there before. He is "tearing up the recruiting trail", so to speak, by generating that interest, but until they sign with UM, that is all it is. Interest.

Look, it's not necessarily a "straw man" type argument. I didn't state as a fact that you said Hoke hasn't been doing anything noteworthy thus far regarding recruiting. As it is, it isn't what you claim it to be. It is merely a statement I made based on wording in your original statement that could be taken several different ways, thus the "if you mean" portion of it. A simple denial of my statement as not being what you meant, and maybe even a correction, was all it really took.

Regardless of the distraction of straw man arguments and the fact that you felt the need to defend your manhood here, the truth is that Hoke is doing something right now on the recruiting trail that not many here had thought possible a mere week ago. Time, and Feb 2nd, will tell if Hoke is truly a good to very good recruiter, but right now the good news we, as UM fans, are seeing daily now is great. I'll take the "possibles", in regards to recruits, and news of their visiting us, over decommits anyday.

The kid seems like a freak athlete that could play DE or even some linebacker. Seems to be in the Brandon Graham mold when he was coming out of high school. This would be a great steal.

Haha I know, I know, but in all honestly they are extremely comparable from the standpoint of where they were at coming out of high school. BG obviously was very highly touted, being a 5 star. But, as far as height, weight, 40 time, and skill set of that hybrid OLB/DE mold, the comparison is kind of scary.

I think this class is shaping up to be solid, if not particularly exciting.  I think that's the best we can hope for... stop the bleeding and be prepared for some domi-fucking-nation in the 2012 recruiting class.

Pitt on 1/6.   Let's see they have had 3 head coaches in the last 6 weeks or so.

He is a 3 star guy to Rivals with offers from NC, NC State, Michigan State, UCF, Rutgers and Maryland.

Bob Davie was right about Mattison saying "Michigan hit a home run" , now everybody wants to come fix this defense and Michigan/San Diego State weren't even on his list before

I like the fact that we are getting more recruits on D, however, aren't we in need of DT's and if so have we heard any any others possibly coming or at least taking a look at us.  I don't really think we are in critical stage here, but if not this year hopefully we can finally get some nice DT's for next year.
