TomVH: DB Will Hines Offered
I outlined Texas DB Will Hines in the Weekly Update, and said that he could be close to a Michigan offer. He sent me a text today that said he was offered.
Tom, do you have an insight regarding offering more DB's and our current standing with Morgan, Standifer, Reeves, Wilson, etc? Are we still looking good with the others, and what is your opinion of Hines in comparison to the other top targets?
No, this offer has nothing to do with anyone else. Out of Morgan, Standifer, Reeves, and Allen Gant Michigan has a good shot with all of them. I've said before that Michigan leads for Morgan, and he recently said he might move up his decision date. With the new offer out to Gant they probably lead for him now too, and he'll be on campus within the next few weeks.
Standifer plans on visiting in early June, and I would venture to say that Michigan is in excellent shape there as well.
With Gant and Standifer visiting soon there's potential for them to pull the trigger and get their recruitment over with. Not saying it will happen, but there's potential. Offering a kid in Texas doesn't really interfere with that. If he were to visit it would take quite a bit to get the visit set up. Beyond that, signing day isn't until February. I would be more concerned if they weren't offering any other defensive backs and just banking on the kids they're working on. That's not me being cryptic or anything other than saying sometimes things happen and they need to prepare for it, rather than scramble later.
...not sure if it was already posted, but he currently listed a top two of PSU and UM and noted that they have a "decided" edge over the others.
Really surprising to see how well they've positioned themselves with these DBs.
Tom, did you leave Jarrod Wilson off that list for a reason, or did you simply forget him? He's the one I most want now that Richardson is in the fold.
This may push other DB targets to speed up their decision
They offered him for the reason they offered Standifer: they see something in him they want. I don't think it says anything about Reeves and Morgan. Remember, when Standifer was offered, people were scratching their heads, and then he began to be barraged by offers and suddenly every thing was clear. Hines already has a good offer list, he's a talented kid, they want to get in on recruiting him and do their due diligence building a relationship. That is all.
According to headline of article on 247, Reeves names Michigan and Penn State are his leaders and have a "decided edge" over the other schools on his list.
I haven't heard anything about this, but any chance that Armani ends up a receiver and we still take a couple other DB's. Reeves is listed as an athlete, receiver, and corner on the scouting sites so just a thought. We seem to have a better chance at other DB's than WR's.
hines is a good looking prospect, i am glad we offered. Tom, where do you think we stand with Jarrod Wilson?
right up until signing day. This is what good recruiting is...another good offer. I can't wait to see who gets in the final class.
anyone remember that chris barnett said something to the effect of good news coming and something about kentucky even though pike had already committed to auburn? did that ever come out what he was talking about?
John Calipari will be named the new head basketball coach tomorrow morning.
& Moronic post at the same time. Congrats, you get the award !! ALL YOUR'S buddy.
I think it's something about Ashley Judd.
