Tomasula to be Fired by 49ers after 1 Season?

Submitted by clarkiefromcanada on

According to CBS Sports citing Mike Florio. Jason LaCanfora also quoted. Highlight of the article:

2015 was an abject nightmare for San Francisco, with owner Jed York and Baalke dumping Jim Harbaugh (who promptly turned Michigan back into a national powerhouse without really recruiting anyone) and replacing him with Tomsula.

He hates recruiting too.

There is clearly a coaching issue over there, can't be anything else.

ROFL - reminds me of a story. I'll keep it brief.

We had a business consultant come in to fix "us". After an insane amount of money, I heard the following while she was in the owners office. "Have you ever considered that you might be the problem?". Odd, we never saw her after that.

I'm guessing the Niners are gonna go the Stanford route for the third time with Shaw... Hopefully Shaw rejects them.

Seems some buzz on the "genius" Chip Kelly going there but no way he could work with Baalke. I think if Kelly coaches in the NFL next year he goes to Cleveland where he was offered previously by Haslem and could probably (despite the nightmare of personnel in Philly) get control of that there.

David Shaw would have to be intoxicated to take the 49ers job.

Huh?  The Eagles had one bad year but were generally averaging around 10 wins per year under Reid.  Kelly had one good year and then cratered when he took over GM duties.  He had no clue how to build a team or get rid of players.  Outright cutting some players and overpaying (and misusing) others.

has turned out to be a pretty good player.  So it's not like they aren't accomplishing anything in the NFL. Yes, they probably don't learn the mechanics and reads in his system to be as NFL ready as guys from other systems, but some of his guys will be talented enough to learn if given time.

I don't recall Smith doing much in the NFL before or aftet Harbaugh. He may have and I just don't know it due to not following the NFL at all closely. Besides, that is one, possibly decent, QB out of how many he's had?

Plus, wasn't Smith already at Utah before Meyer was the coach?

Miller was smart to switch to receiver when he did. It's his best option to be long term in the pros. Him, Barrett, and Jones all look to have little chance of being starting QBs in the NFL except for the possible dumpster fire with no viable starter. That could be my bias talking, but neither Meyer (Alex Smith being the lone exception I can think of; and even he's iffy) and OSU don't have a great track record of turning out NFL QBs.

That would be nice, but David Shaw is one of the good guys in college football. I wouldn't want to wish the 49ers on anybody other than maybe Brian Kelly, Mark Dantonio or Urbz.

Jed York should fire himself. And I don't mean resign, step down or transfer ownership.

I mean I want him to hold an actual press conference and say "I'm fired".
